‘Counting On’ Stars Josiah & Lauren Duggar Welcome First Child: See the Adorable Baby Photos!

“I’m just saying that now that your womb is empty, we should get started on making Blessing No. 2.”

The Duggar babies just keep coming!

Josiah Duggar and his wife Lauren announced on Monday that they have welcomed their first child. In an interview with Us Weekly, the Counting On stars revealed that their baby girl came into the world on Friday afternoon.

Josiah and Lauren named their daughter Bella Milagro. (Baby Bella shares Lauren’s middle name, which means “miracle” in Spanish.)

A NEW BABY has arrived! #linkinbio

A post shared by The Duggar Family (@duggarfam) on

While the Duggars tend to prefer Fundie-style home births, it sounds like things did not go according to plan for Lauren during her labor and delivery. (In one photo released to Us Weekly, it appears that Lauren is in the hospital.)

“After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived,” the couple told Us Weekly. “When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro all the pain instantly went away. We can’t believe she is ours — she is so perfect! She definitely has lived up to her name which means, ‘beautiful miracle.’ Today we are basking in God’s goodness!”

The magazine reports that Bella weighed in at 6 pounds and 5 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long. This is quite small for a Duggar baby. In fact, the Duggars have often joked on ‘Counting On’ that their offspring tend to have enormous heads. Ouch.

“That’s the part of the blessing that is the hardest for the girls to squeeze out of their no-nos!”

Josiah and Lauren announced this pregnancy in May, shortly after revealing that they had lost their first pregnancy to miscarriage.

“God’s faithfulness to us in our most difficult moments has sustained us and brought us such love and comfort,” they told Us Weekly in May. We cannot begin to tell you how much we are looking forward to holding this baby in our arms this fall. Every good and perfect gift is from above and we are looking forward to this new season of parenting together!”

Bella is just the latest to be born during a Duggar Family baby boom. Just last week, Josiah’s brother Joseph and Joseph’s wife Kendra welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Addison. Bella is the 15th grandchild for Josiah’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and they have two more grandchildren on the way. Currently, Abbie Duggar (who is the wife of John-David), and Anna Duggar (wife of Josh) are pregnant and due to give birth soon.

  1. Wow! I feel like almost all the Duggar babies come out looking very “Duggar-y” (ie; baby versions of Jim Bob). This little one looks JUST like Lauren. Super cute. Congrats to them. I haven’t tuned in much since everything with Josh coming to light, but from the clips I have seen, Lauren seems like a kind woman.

  2. Why do they all have long and difficult labors…maybe they all should just start out going to the hospital right from the start of labor…

  3. Omg lol I would never write “after a long and difficult labor…” no matter what. It’s like you’re trying to garner sympathy for yourself when literally every other mother in the world has gone through the same thing (lots probably with worse labors!). My labor w my daughter wasn’t easy, as most labors are not, but that’s how giving birth is! Idk, just rubs me the wrong way to say it that way in the announcement, like almost as if it’s attention seeking.

    1. Oh, come on. It blows my mind that people take such simple social media captions and twist it into a a nonexistent issue. I don’t see ANYWHERE where she compared her labor to anyone else’s…so why are you attempting to do so? If she said *her* labor was long and difficult, it was long and difficult for *her*. What would you prefer captions to be? “I had a very long and difficult labor, but I know there must be many more mother’s out there who had labors that were much longer and much more difficult than mine” — do you know how bizarre that sounds?

  4. Hopefully she’ll stop bawling now about her chemical pregnancy. She’s a candidate for PPD, so I hope she’ll get whatever support she needs (not likely in their cult).

    1. Its not often I feel the need to reply to comments here, but your ignorance regarding her “chemical pregnancy” demanded that I do so. Having been through several chemical and confirmed pregnancy losses, the fact that people like you treat a chemical pregnancy as something less then a confirmed is preposterous. The only difference to me was a doctor’s appointment. The day I discovered I was pregnant, I fell in love with that child. I agree Lauren is dramatic. But she suffered a miscarriage, a pregnancy loss. She deserves no less sympathy then someone who had a “confirmed pregnancy”.

  5. I mean, she might have had an exceptionally hard labor, we won’t know until it airs and The Ashley recaps it. Lol.

But you’re right, most first deliveries tend to be very long, though I wouldn’t say particularly harder/more painful. My first was the longest and most complicated, my second was the least painful, and my third was the quickest but most painful by far.

    1. I agree that it was likely difficult but the job is in the name… labor. So unless she had some sort of traumatic birth (which I’m sure the Duggars would have blasted on social media immediately), her story is likely no different than all of ours.

      1. Yeah, you’re probably right about that. They would have probably mentioned any real complications in the announcement.

  6. I’m sure the birth was no more difficult than most 1st time births. Lauren is so dramatic, in the clips that of course she’d talk about her long and difficult labor!!! Like labor is easy on everyone else!
