Chelsea Houska Confirms She’s Leaving ‘Teen Mom 2’: Did the Negativity Toward Cole DeBoer Have Anything to Do with Her Decision to Leave? (Exclusive Details!)

“Why ya gotta be blaming me?”

Two weeks after The Ashley exclusively broke the news that Chelsea Houska is leaving Teen Mom 2, Chelsea herself has confirmed the news.

In the caption of a family photo posted to Instagram on Tuesday, Chelsea wrote that she and her husband Cole DeBoer have decided that it’s time for their family to move on from the show. Ever since The Ashley broke the news of Chelsea’s departure, fans have speculated that the negative comments Cole received from fans in regard to his actions on the recent episodes played a part in Chelsea’s decision to leave the show. (More on that later…)

In Chelsea’s departure statement, she wrote that the decision was both hers and Cole’s.

“MTV’s ‘Teen Mom 2’ has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last,” Chelsea wrote. “We are forever thankful to MTV and our crew, who are like family to us.”

Chelsea assured her fans that there are no issues between her, MTV and the producers that caused her to leave the show. (The Ashley can confirm this; everyone is one good terms currently.)

“We’re parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this. We’re proud to have been able to share our story and are so grateful to the fans who have followed our journey from the beginning.  Our next chapter in life will focus on developing our brand and taking things to the next level with new endeavors and expanding family businesses.”

As The Ashley told you, Chelsea recently filmed her final episode, which is the Season 10A Reunion. It was there that she informed her castmates that she was leaving.

“Please tune into our last moments on the show and continue to follow along our journey on social media. We are so excited for this next phase of our lives and hope you all will be a part of it in some way!” she wrote.

In recent weeks, viewers have accused Cole of over-stepping his boundaries as Aubree’s stepdad in regard to her relationship with her biological dad, Adam Lind. This caused him to be the target of many negative comments on social media. After The Ashley announced that Chelsea was leaving the show, some suspected that the negativity toward Cole played a part in Chelsea’s decision to leave.

Tell us how you feel about these rumors, Cole…

The Ashley can confirm that Chelsea’s departure had been in the works even before the episodes in question aired. Chelsea had informed the producers that she intended to leave the show, and that the reason had nothing to do with Cole’s “true colors” coming out, as some stated online.

“You said to show my true colors!”

In fact, according to The Ashley’s sources, the decision had nothing to do with Cole at all.

“Chelsea was becoming more and more concerned about Aubree being on-camera, now that she’s older,” one source tells The Ashley. “Chelsea didn’t like that her segments were becoming more and more about Aubree’s personal life and her relationship with Adam’s family. She always knew she would leave the show once Aubree reached a certain age. She didn’t want her to go through puberty on-camera and be subjected to hurtful and sometimes creepy comments from viewers.

“Chelsea was actually quite shocked when she saw people speculating that the negativity toward Cole had anything to do with that decision,” the source continued. “She wants Aubree to go into her teenage years with privacy, and not be on reality TV anymore. If Chelsea were to do any more television shows in the future, she would not do anything about her personal life.”

After Chelsea posted her statement to Instagram, the official ‘Teen Mom’ account also posted a statement.

“For a decade, Teen Mom 2 fans have followed @chelseahouska’s story and celebrated her milestone moments,” the statement read. “From watching her journey as a young mother committed to doing everything possible for her daughter, to seeing her relationship with Cole blossom into a happy marriage to becoming an entrepreneur, our viewers have been there through it all and always looked to Chelsea for inspiration and advice. As she begins her next chapter, we’re so excited to watch her excel in her future endeavors and look forward to finishing her story this season.”

As for who will replace Chelsea on ‘Teen Mom 2,’ The Ashley’s sources say it’s still up in the air. However, The Ashley will update this story when more info is available.

She will be missed. Without her the show will not be the same. I watched her grow into a sweet and and beautiful young lady. She is a very loving caring mother wife and friend.

  2. Why anyone thinks or cares that Cole “Showed his true colors” by acting like… a dad? Is beyond me. Adam is certainly not doing it. Cole seems very well rounded an him and Chelsea are the only remotely normal ones from the franchise and only ones that aren’t a train wreck, click bait, mess. Adam is a total douchebag trashbag that can’t even show up to the VERY few visits he gets- even at 11 AM. At this point he needs to everyone a favor and have Cole adopt Aubree.

  3. I highly doubt the “blowback” on Cole is what’s causing this exit. I also doubt that whatever he got was not nearly as worse as the hate some of the other girls get (hi Jennelle, Farrah, Kail, Amber). Regardless, this is the right choice. Chelsea doesn’t seem to want to share that much anymore, and she is probably one of the only girls in this franchise who doesn’t need the show. It seems Cole still works his full-time job, and she appears to have been reasonable in her spending. She doesn’t have an extravagant house and isn’t going on 20 vacations a year (hi Kail). She is still well liked enough that she can profit off being an “influencer” for a little while at least. Good on her for recognizing that it’s not normal for a child’s life to be documented since birth for the world to see, we’ve all seen how that has turned out for other reality stars children! (hi Brielle Zolciak Biermann, Jenner girls, Kate Plus Eight kids).

  4. Social media can be vicious and these kids are old enough to read these things. Its wise to know when to say when for your kids safety. Leah also needs to pull the plug. Gracies issues shouldnt be played out on national tv. They need to be in private family counseling and not used to boost ratings. Say we know Leahs whole family depends on her MTV paycheck. She would never quit willingly.

    1. I am starting to get embarrassed for these kids when they are on. Especially leahs kids. Leah just rambles and talks about things sge shouldn’t. Let the kids talk if they want to but don’t talk about them away from them to millions of people.

  5. Oh yeah, I can only imagine. Kail is already talking about Isaac’s future sex life which is just wrong in my book. And Aubree being a girl would make her even more vulnerable to abuse when she starts dating and all things related to puberty. Just really, let those kids live a normal teenage life, cancel the show.

  6. A replacement?? They’re thinking about finding a replacement? Jeeze…at the rate they’re going, both shows are going to have entirely different casts than what they started out with…just leave the spot open.

Also I was pretty confused about the backlash Cole was getting. Yea Aubree has a biological dad, but Adumb is a flake, who is a poor excuse of a father, who constantly disappoints Aubree…and who is there to have to pick up the pieces when Aubree gets upset because Adumb effed up?…that’s right Chelsea and Cole. I don’t think he over stepped at all. He’s more of a father to Aubree than Adumb ever was.

      1. Oh God, could you imagine?…and her wacky baby daddy Josh popping back up? God MTV, please spare us. I would think they’re going to probably get one of the girls from the new 16 and pregnant…either the hispanic one with that baby named Boston, I can’t remember Boston’s parents names lol, or the other interracial couple where the mom hates the black baby daddy and is SUPER passive aggressive with him…I can’t remember their names either LOL.

  7. Honestly I don’t see anything wrong with what Cole has said these past episodes. I bet dealing with Adam’s family is incredibly frustrating. The only thing is, none of this should have been said on camera.

  8. Bullshit. She left because she’s a whiney baby who can’t take valid criticism. Never had a problem showing aubree’s problems BEFORE she “started other brands.” (Actually, slapped her name on someone else’s business)

Glad about it though, was really sick of this try hard.

  9. Chelsea is the only one being respectful of her kid. None of the original kids on TM and TM2 are kids anymore they’re all preteens who deserve privacy and to go through those hard and awkward years without a camera in their faces. Can you imagine one of them trying to date?? In my opinion they should move on to other moms with younger children or not show the older preteen children at all.

  10. Does anyone know how well these clothing lines could do? I understand a lot of people probably buy but is it making a good income?

  11. Stepparents are damned if they do, damned if they don’t. If Cole weren’t making a concerted effort to be a father figure to Aubree then he would be accused of favoring his biological children.

None of the other “teen” moms are willing to walk away from their paychecks for the sake of their children’s privacy so good on her.
