Scheana Shay Says She’s “Really Glad” She’s Not on ‘The Valley’; Claims Her Friendship with Lala Kent Will Never Be Repaired

“Let’s see if you still feel that way once the FOMO sets in, Sche-Schu.”

Former Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay says she has no regrets about turning down a spot on the ‘VPR’ spinoff, The Valley, though she does regret not ending her friendship with former co-star/bast frand best friend Lala Kent sooner.

On Friday’s episode of her Scheananigans podcast, Scheana claimed that while attending BravoCon in November, she confirmed to Jeremiah Smith– an executive producer and showrunner on ‘The Valley’– that she “abso-f**king-lutely” felt that she made the right decision by not joining the ‘VPR’ spinoff as a main cast member, despite many of her former co-stars choosing to do so.

“ … I was like, ‘I’m still at BravoCon, I’m still Scheana Shay, I’m still, you know, enjoying all of this. But no, I’m actually really glad I didn’t do it,’” Scheana told podcast guest Ryan Bailey.

While Scheana seemed more than content with her decision to steer clear of ‘The Valley,’ Ryan went on to suggest that it would still be “great” if the former SURver were to repair her relationship with Lala “in real life.” In response, Scheana insisted that friendship has sailed.

“Yeah, that is not going to be repaired, because the year of the snake has been shed,” Scheana said. “And one thing I’m doing moving forward is not going back. I now really, genuinely understand boundaries and me setting that boundary specifically, I feel at peace.

“I don’t feel like I’m missing something,” she continued. “I feel like, why didn’t I do this sooner?”

*except making up with Lala

As ‘VPR’ fans know, Scheana and Lala had been best friends (and Palm Springs neighbors) for years, with both going on to make brief appearances on ‘The Valley’ in the wake of the ‘VPR’ cast shakeup. (Season 3 will be the first season that Lala and former ‘VPR’ star Tom Schwartz appear as full-time cast members.)

Unfortunately, things between the dynamic duo hit a snag shortly after the July release of Scheana’s memoir, My Good Side, with the “Good as Gold” singer even calling out her BFF on an August episode of her podcast for allegedly failing to promote her book until a week after it hit shelves.

In response to Scheana’s on-air rant, Lala vowed to let “Scheana Scheana”– a remark that Scheana admitted she didn’t really like. Scheana went on to accuse Lala of not “taking accountability” for why “Scheana is Scheana-ing at the moment,” claiming that “friendships ebb and flow” and revealing that the only time she and Lala speak is when they “talk about each other on [their podcasts].”

In fact, one of the last times Lala and Scheana reportedly spoke to each other was at BravoCon in November, where Scheana confirmed that the two were “cordial.” She also stated that they still saw each other at school events for their four-year-old daughters, Summer Moon and Ocean.

Back in January, Scheana told listeners that, despite her fractured friendship with Lala, Summer Moon was still besties with Ocean; however, she also revealed that she was unsure how long the kiddos’ friendship would last, given that it’s up to her and Lala to help keep it going.

“We’re applying to some of the same schools, [but] who knows who gets in where?” Scheana explained. “It’s on the parents to keep the kids connected … if we want these kids to stay in touch, it’s like, that’s on us.”

Scheana also revealed the “boundary” she set with Lala regarding playdates for their daughters and how she would no longer be the one who got together with Lala in order to “keep the kids friends.” Instead, Scheana said she would allow Lala’s brother, Easton Burningham, to bring Ocean over to her house for playdates with Summer Moon, or have her husband, Brock Davies, take Summer Moon to Lala’s home.

“If [Brock] wants to [get together] with any of them, that’s on him,” she said. “I’m never going to withhold the kids from seeing each other. But I have finally figured out what boundaries are, and I’m going to stick with that.”
