Shen Williams, the mom of Teen Mom star Bar Smith, fired off a social media rant over the weekend that was equal parts lengthy, angry and confusing after Bar was sentenced Thursday for one of the charges stemming from his domestic violence arrest involving estranged wife Ashley Jones. 

As you may recall, Bar was arrested in July on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges including kidnapping, for allegedly holding Ashley hostage in her Las Vegas apartment. He has remained in jail since the July incident. 

According to court records obtained by Starcasm, Bar entered a plea last week of “nolo contendere”– a plea by which a defendant accepts conviction as though a guilty plea has been entered, but does not admit guilt– to the misdemeanor charge of Battery Consulting Domestic Violence (first offense) and has been sentenced to six months in the Clark County Detention Center. (It’s important to note that the sentence is only for that misdemeanor battery charge.) 

The outlet reports that Bar’s sentence is suspended with one year of informal probation and that his charge is listed as “Adjudication Stayed,” meaning the 27-year-old must adhere to the conditions of his probation in order to avoid a conviction and more serious time behind bars. As part of Bar’s probation, he must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow up with any recommended treatment; enter and successfully complete parenting classes; not have any negative contact with Ashley; and stay out of trouble. 

Court records obtained by The Ashley state that Bar’s attorneys filed a “Motion to Sever,” so that his misdemeanor Battery charge could be tried separately from the other counts Bar was facing. His jury trial (for the other charges remaining) is still set for March 31, with Bar due in court this Tuesday for a Status Check (Trial Readiness) hearing. 

While Bar is facing felony charges including Coercion Constituting Domestic Violence, Residential Burglary, and Aggravated Stalking, at the hearing on February 27, all three of those felonies were listed as “Charges Amended/Dropped.” 

Following Bar’s sentencing last week, Shen took to social media, telling fans she “told y’all he coming home”– referring to Bar presumably receiving a lighter sentence than what some had anticipated. Shen then went on to accuse MTV and Viacom of making up some of the charges against her son, warning both companies that they were “gonna hear about it” from her. 

(Shen has been outspoken about her feelings that Bar was wrongly charged following the DV incident with Ashley in July.)

“I told y’all this was not stalking abuse nothin smh they made it up and MTV [bought] it but Viacom is gonna hear about it!” Shen ranted. “They settled my case out of court! Let’s the games begin.” 

Shen also noted that Bar was facing multiple charges– including five felony charges– “based off their testimony alone,” yet he’s now “getting out of jail.”

“ … do you really think those were real charges?” Shen asked. “They were blow up and trumped for [Ashley’s] storyline and to write my son out. They fake them just like committing perjury in a court room against me … .” 

Shen assured fans, “we are done with this frivolous case for a storyline” and vowed to “expose the truth and the real evil behind closed doors.” 

It’s unknown if Ashley was in attendance on Thursday to make an oral statement at Bar’s hearing, though prosecutors had previously filed a notification informing the defense attorney that she would be present to do so. Ashley has yet to comment on Bar’s sentencing.

As of Monday at press time, Bar remains in custody in Las Vegas.
