The battery case against Tarek El Moussa has been dismissed.
The HGTV star had been facing a misdemeanor charge of battery stemming from a fight he got into at a Las Vegas casino back in June. Tarek was not arrested, but received a citation for the Sin City scuffle, which was captured on surveillance footage.
According to TMZ, the Flip or Flop star had his charge dismissed by a Las Vegas judge on August 5, after he proved that he had stayed out of trouble and undergone “impulse control counseling.” According to court records obtained by The Ashley, it appears that Tarek also took an anger management class, which he submitted proof of completion to the court on July 31.
After it was shown that Tarek had followed all the requirements of the court’s diversion plan, the case against him was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the charge can’t be refiled against Tarek.
Tarek’s wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, was present during the brawl but did not participate. She did, however, post photos from the family’s trip to Vegas before news of the scuffle was revealed.

As The Ashley previously reported, Tarek’s charge stemmed from a physical altercation that the HGTV star got into inside the casino of the Palazzo hotel. A man allegedly bumped into a chair that Tarek’s father was sitting in as he played roulette. Tarek’s dad was reportedly offended by the man’s actions and turned around to stare at him before returning to the roulette game. That caused the man to pat Tarek’s father on the shoulder and say something to him, which in turn spurred Tarek– who was sitting near the roulette table– to jump up and intervene.
Tarek reportedly pushed the man back, and both he and the man then got into “fighting stances.” According to TMZ, the man tried to take Tarek down by charging at his legs, but Tarek kneed him to the floor. He then allegedly “mounted” the guy’s back and hit him three times in the head before walking away.
The alleged victim was left with bruising under his right eye and a cut on the bridge of his nose as a result of the altercation; he did, however, refuse medical attention at the scene. As for Tarek, he told police that he got involved in the situation between his father and the man in order to “protect his dad due to him having back problems.”
The HGTV star’s attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld released a statement to TMZ on Friday.
“We are very pleased that the case against Tarek was completely dismissed.”
