Whitney Purvis has been sprung from jail after spending nearly a month behind bars.
The Ashley can reveal that the former 16 and Pregnant star is celebrating being back home— for the time being— as she awaits her next arraignment for a variety of very serious crimes. After Whitney was released, she took to Facebook and Instagram to express how happy she is to be out of jail, at least temporarily, after posting the $5,000 bond.
“I forgot what sunlight feels like. Soooo happy to be home,” Whitney wrote on Monday.
As The Ashley has previously reported, Whitney— who starred on the very first season of “16 and Pregnant” alongside Teen Mom stars like Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood— was originally arrested on July 7 for involuntary manslaughter, “use of communication facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances” and intending to distribute a controlled substance. (She received the charges after allegedly distributing Tranq— a drug that contains a combination of fentanyl and xylazine— to a friend of hers, John Mark Harris, who died in February after taking the drug.)
Days after she bonded out of jail, Whitney was arrested again and transported to a different county jail in Georgia, picking up two new felony charges for Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, as well as a Violation of Probation charge. A warrant for her arrest in Bartow County, Georgia, was filed on July 22 and Whitney was jailed later that day. She has been behind bars ever since.

According to the criminal arrest report— which was also obtained by The Ashley– Whitney was accused of being in possession of both fentanyl and Phencyclidine (PCP). She received a felony charge for each of the drugs.
Whitney is set to go before a judge on September 4 for an arraignment. Whitney is facing some serious prison time if she’s convicted of all of the felony charges that are pending against her. The involuntary manslaughter charge alone could carry a prison sentence of 10-30 years.
The state of Georgia has been cracking down on fentanyl-related crimes since the passing of Senate Bill 465, aka “Austin’s Law,” in 2024. The bill created a new offense category —felony aggravated involuntary manslaughter— under which drug dealers and distributors can be prosecuted for their role in a person’s death if they are determined to have helped manufacture or sell the deadly fentanyl drug.
In the comment section of Whitney’s Facebook post, someone told Whitney she was praying for her, Whit replied, “I need it! Thank you!”
When another friend asked Whitney how she was holding up, she wrote that she’s “trying to hang in there.”
“I think I’m still trying to mentally process everything.”
(In addition to Whitney’s legal issues and multiple arrests, her eldest son Weston Jr.— who was born during her episode of “16 and Pregnant”— passed away in June at the age of 16.)
Although the ‘Teen Mom’ girls have remained silent regarding Whitney’s arrest and legal escapades, Whitney did get some support from Ebony Jackson, who starred on “16 and Pregnant” Season 1 and was the only girl other than Whit who wasn’t chosen for ‘Teen Mom.’

“Love you Whitney!” Ebony wrote. “Keep your head up mama! My heart is with you and the boys if you need me I’m a DM away.”
The Ashley will continue to update this story. Stay tuned…

She will be arrested and high before the end of the month.
It’s a disease tho (as per the AMA), she absolutely needs long term treatment and intense therapy. Guess its sooo fun to judge tho, right? Gross. I bet you call yourself a “Christian” too lol
I’m a Christian and was addicted to opioids several years ago. Addiction doesn’t discriminate. Christian or not. Don’t point fingers when your comment was judgmental towards Christians.
And Leah’s meth pipe is right, and so are you in the sense.. if she doesn’t take accountability, admit she needs help, and seek the help/Jesus….she will be high and arrested by the end of the month. I hope she gets the help she needs.
Tho, maybe you should look at her track record and see how long it has been pointed out to her she really needs help. And how much she lies.
