Brittany Cartwright Reveals Ex Jax Taylor’s Reaction to Her ‘Special Forces’ Performance & Explains Why Show Was “Triggering” for Her

“I mean, I hate to say I told ya so, Brittany– oh wait, no I don’t…”

*Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Brittany Cartwright’s early exit from Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test came as no surprise to her ex Jax Taylor, who had allegedly predicted The Valley star would not succeed on the grueling competition series.

Viewers watched on the Season 4 premiere last week as Brittany self-eliminated from the show less than 16 hours into the competition, making her the first “recruit” to exit the new season. After deciding to tap out from ‘Special Forces,’ Brittany admitted to viewers that she was embarrassed to be the first to go, even more so because Jax had predicted– via text– that she was “not gonna make it far.”

“Was I wrong?!”

In a new interview with TooFab, Brittany revealed that while she hasn’t heard from Jax since the ‘Special Forces’ premiere aired, she did receive some feedback from her ex after returning home from filming the show in Morocco.

“It’s a 20-hour flight back from Morocco, so I didn’t say anything, I just showed up, and I was like, ‘I’m back!’ And, you know, it was a lot like, ‘Oh, haha, I knew that you wouldn’t make it that far, and blah blah blah,’” she said of Jax’s reaction. “And I just kind of, like, let it just roll off my shoulders, because I can’t care anymore what somebody who is like that has to say about me.”

“I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, RAWT IN HAIL, JAX!”

Although Brittany wanted to prove Jax wrong with her performance, she said she also realizes that she didn’t deserve to get a text message like that from the father of her child to begin with.

“Him telling me I wouldn’t go far in this, it definitely put me in a weird mental state that I shouldn’t have even had to experience,” she told Us Weekly. “That shouldn’t have happened to me. I should not have been texted that I wasn’t gonna make it far. I shouldn’t have had that in the back of my mind. But it did happen to me and it was something that I had to live with. But either way, I don’t care what he has to say.”

The former Vanderpump Rules star also insists that she tried her best in the short time she was on the show, despite not being in the best mindset at the time.

“Trust me, I tried. Trust me,” she said. “It just … it wasn’t for me at the time, but I tried.

Brittany, sporting a face full of mud in the ‘Special Forces’ season premiere…

“ … It was a very complicated time in my life, I missed my son,” she added. “There was just a lot of different factors that were happening, but I put myself out there, left my comfort zone, and I tried.”

While Brittany said she wished she had been in better shape when she competed on the show, she admits that she went into the competition believing she had an advantage over some of her castmates due the toxicity she had experienced in her marriage to Jax.

“I thought I would be more prepared mentally and instead, you know, coming out of toxic relationship, the [Directing Staff] (DS) are doing their job, they’re doing what they’re supposed to do by yelling at us and putting us down, they’re trying to knock us down and bring us back up,” she said. “For me, it didn’t work like that. It was triggering.

Gee…we can’t imagine why…

“It didn’t motivate me,” she continued. “It was something that I didn’t think was gonna happen to me that did, and I feel like that a lot of people that did ‘Special Forces,’ like, a lot of things that you don’t think are going to affect you do and that was something that affected me that I did not see that was gonna happen.”

When discussing her ‘Special Forces’ experience further on Housewives Nightcap, Brittany explained that when the DS would scream “you’re weak” at the recruits, in her mind she was saying, “I know I am.”

“It kind of did, like, a reverse effect on me than I expected it to,” she said.

“Go ahead and add this to the ever-growing list of things that Jax has ruined, y’all.”

While Brittany’s ‘Special Forces’ performance didn’t go the way she planned, she said she’s proud of herself for giving it her all.

“No matter what, I’m proud of that and of the fact that I faced my biggest fear, which was heights,” Brittany told Us Weekly, referring to the helicopter she rappelled from in the first challenge. “I did that, so I can still walk away proud. I’m still disappointed in myself that I left. I did not want to be the first person that left, but I’m also proud of myself for knowing when it was time for me to walk away, because it was a lot.”

New episodes of ‘Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test’ air Thursdays on FOX.

  1. They put “regular” people who haven’t trained for this in a sadistic environment that is ruthless. Not something I would ever sign up for but maybe I would feel differently if I was paid a flat fee of anywhere between $100,000 to $500,000 like they were. Tom Sandoval was paid $250,000!
