Anna Johnston Reveals the “Truth” About Her Meetup with Her Parents for “7 Little Johnstons” Season Finale: “Very Upsetting”

Little Johnstons, big season finale…

Anna Johnston is speaking out to warn fans that the scenes they’re about to watch on Tuesday’s season finale of 7 Little Johnstons did not go down in real life the way the show is making it seem.

In a TikTok video posted on Monday, Anna spoke about filming certain scenes of her family’s show this season, including the “coffee shop” scene– presumably the one that viewers will watch on Tuesday’s season finale.

“ … I don’t know if they’ve shown the coffee shop [scene] yet, but it’s more [of my parents saying], ‘Let’s act like we’re going to want a relationship with Anna, meet up with Anna.’ THAT IS STRICTLY FOR FILMING!” she claimed. “ … that’s the hardest thing, is they act like on this season that they want a relationship with me and they’re trying and everything, but it’s literally for a storyline … .”

Anna went on to claim that it’s “very upsetting” that, because she’s no longer filming for the TLC show, her family has “absolutely not” attempted to contact her.  (She also confirmed that the rest of the Johnstons are filming for the upcoming new season without her.)

“ … [I] have not heard anything from them,” she said. “And I mean, at this point, it is what it is. I’ve accepted that [my family was staying in contact with me] because of the show, but now I’m done with the show and of course, [they] don’t want to try … .”

“Y’all have days off from filming; y’all have a life outside of filming,” Anna said of her family, adding that if her family wanted to see her around their filming schedule, they could.

She then pointed out how hard it was for her to see the scenes in which her family did a photoshoot without her for the Johnston Christmas card.

Anna, girl, I think you got lucky to get to sit this one out…

“It’s very upsetting because that was our family tradition, to take family photos for our Christmas cards,” she said, adding that she didn’t want to film the scene in which she took photos with her dogs, because she knew how to would be edited to look.

“Now I get it; they wanted to have one scene of the family doing the family photoshoot and then [my photoshoot] literally just had me to make it all dramatic and everything,” Anna said.

The dog is very happy he wasn’t dressed up like a manger goat and forced to be in the family photo…

Anna stated that she agreed to meet her parents at a coffee shop, due to how poorly things went when she allowed her dad to come over to her house for a scene shown earlier this season.

“Them coming over to my home was the worst idea ever,” she said. “He did not respect that.”

“But I wore my finest visor, so there’s that!”

On Tuesday’s season finale of “7 Little Johnstons,” Anna sits down face-to-face with parents Trent and Amber for the first time in months to discuss their ongoing family feud and (seemingly) attempt to move towards reconciliation.

In a preview clip of Tuesday’s episode, Amber tells Anna that she and Trent are trying to figure out where Anna stands on mending their relationship.

“ … you tell us you want a relationship, but you don’t make any initiative … ,” Amber says to Anna, who interjects to let her mom know she isn’t there to talk about the past.

As the conversation continues, Anna grows frustrated at her parents for repeatedly interrupting her, telling the two that she “can’t finish my sentence and it’s pissing me off.” Anna goes on to tell viewers that she becomes “frustrated and annoyed” when this happens, as it shows her that she isn’t being heard.

When the family meetup should’ve been a group text message…

Back at the table with her parents, Anna explains that she’s trying to “piece” herself back together following a tough year and while she wants a relationship with them, she’s “waiting for the right time.”

“Yes I want a relationship with you guys,” Anna says. “Yeah, it hurts through the holidays and stuff like that, but it’s like, even having a relationship with y’all, my mental [health] went down at times … I’m not saying I don’t want a relationship, but it’s like, last year was hell.”

In response to Anna’s comments, Amber tells her daughter that whenever she’s ready to have a relationship with them again, they’re here for her. As for Anna’s siblings, however, Amber claims that will “take work,” as Anna has already been “missing out” on seeing her niece grow up.

“You have not seen your niece in almost a year,” Amber says, referring to Anna’s sister Elizabeth’s daughter Leighton. “Your niece does not know who you are and that’s sad, Anna.”

After both Amber and Trent attempt to guilt-trip Anna over allegedly being an absentee aunt, Anna asks that they “not talk about the kids part right now,” only for Amber to persist.

“No, we are [going to talk about it], Anna, because it hurts, it hurts mom and dad,” Amber says. “It hurts your siblings that you don’t want to have a relationship.”

“And I think it hurts you,” Trent adds.

The “7 Little Johnstons” Season 16 finale airs Tuesday on TLC. Watch a clip from the episode below.

  1. Omg good for her setting boundaries. Her mom is the epitome of a narcissist. The part about niece is irrelevant. If being around these idiots is crossing a boundary that Anna set for herself, then so be it, the niece doesn’t know her. That is what unfortunately happens when adults like Trent and Amber exist.

    1. Exactly, these excuses for parents aren’t happy unless they are pulling all the strings. It takes a lot of courage for Anna to stand up for herself and i hope she continues.

  2. These people are SUCH horrendous parents, I hope Anna stays away and models self sufficiency and self respect for when her niece grows up in that unhealthfully enmeshed family. Her parents certainly don’t want to have to find a new scapegoat do they?

Hr parents need to but out of the sibling relationship, but it and the niece are their last remaining weapon against Anna.
