Big Brother star Rachel Reilly and Cara Maria Sorbello of The Challenge are teaming up for holiday rom-com movie, Mistletoe Mansion, set to begin filming next month in New York.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the reality TV vets will play fictionalized versions of themselves in the upcoming holiday flick, with the two taking on the role of co-hosts of a fake reality TV show called The 12 Dates of Christmas.
In the film, Rachel and Cara Maria’s characters will disagree with the creative direction that the reality show is going in when the current season’s “bachelorette,” Ava Cleary, begins to have feelings for her talent handler, Luke Sheppard. While Cara Maria’s character is described as an individual who is “drama-seeking” and pushing for a “traditional reality TV ending,” Rachel’s character is described as more “romantically inclined,” as she pushes the show’s female lead, Ava, to follow her heart.
Rachel’s role in the upcoming holiday rom-com reportedly draws from her real-life romance with husband Brendon Villegas, whom she met while appearing on Big Brother 12.
As for Cara Maria, Mistletoe Mansion will mark her return to the holiday-film genre, after previously appearing in A Jar Full of Christmas, which premiered last year on Tubi. On Monday, Cara Maria encouraged fans on social media to check out her previous holiday film projects, while inviting interested parties to apply for an opportunity to appear in the upcoming film alongside her and Rachel.
“Wanna be in a movie WITH me?” Cara posted to Instagram. “We are filming in January in Long Island and filling up spots for extras and more. Being in a [Candice Cain] Christmas movie is a DREAM you have to experience.”
According to the film’s website, funding for Mistletoe Mansion is still being raised and if it is not reached in time, there is a possibility that the holiday project will be turned into a “micro-series” instead.
Those who “claim” one of the available casting opportunities for the film will receive a credit on IMDb, as well as in the end credits of the film. Those who appear on-camera will also receive two tickets to the premiere of Mistletoe Mansion, which will be held at a date to be determined.
While a price is set for each of the available roles– ranging from $100 to $50,000– the film’s website states that everyone who claims a role will receive an investor agreement for the cost of that role and will receive 110 percent of that cost back once the project is sold.
