This week’s episode of Unexpected caused a lot of controversy for Bella Vaughn and her parents Kris and Falen, due to a scene in which Bella’s parents allowed her to shower with her (then) 13-year-old baby daddy Hunter Johnson days after she gave birth to their son Wes. Viewers expressed their shock— and disgust— over the scene, prompting Bella and Falen to take to TikTok on Thursday to defend themselves.

Falen also doubled down on her decision to let 15-year-old Bella shower with her boyfriend, telling fans that her daughter had already had sex and a baby, so she didn’t have a problem with Hunter helping Bella in the shower when she was postpartum.

“We’re going to do a little debriefing about the episode that aired on Monday, since we have been getting a lot of hate for that, so let’s just see if we can make them even madder!” Falen said of ‘Unexpected’ fans who have been slamming her and Bella’s dad Kris on social media.

After Falen made it clear that she’s “not in love with Hunter” (as some fans on social media have suggested), Bella explained that she plans to make a TikTok video giving her and Hunter’s “side” of the controversy, adding that viewers “are gonna hate that, but it’s gonna make us a lot of money, so I’m excited about that!”

Bella defended her parents for letting her shower with Hunter.

“The shower scene, y’all hated but I was 15 years old, freshly postpartum, out of the hospital and had my stomach cut open [from a C-section],” Bella— who is now 16— said. “I had just got my staples removed literally hours prior to that. So, yeah, Hunter helped me out because I just had his baby. He should be there, helping me when he’s the one that made the baby with me.”

Bella also denied that it would have been more appropriate to have her mother help her in the shower postpartum than her 13-year-old boyfriend. 

“I don’t care if you say it was my mom’s job [to help me shower] because I’m still a kid. I don’t care,” she said. “Hunter has literally seen me through everything. He helped me make that baby so it wouldn’t make sense for him not to help me after I had the baby. No. You would complain about that if he didn’t!”

Falen also agreed that Hunter was the right person for the job, arguing that since the kids had already had sex and had a baby, it wasn’t a big deal for him to be in the shower with Bella.

“They’ve already done the deed!” Falen insisted. “They’ve already got pregnant, had a baby, so I don’t know what the issue is. I’m going to let them be there for each other, no matter the situation… My daughter needed help in the shower so, guess what? Hunter was there to help her.”

Bella and Falen explained that Bella experienced some health issues after giving birth, including fainting and having her C-section incision open up.

“Hunter stepped in and was there for her the entire time,” Falen said. “Bella was very shaky and all kinds of stuff after having the baby…she had a major issue with passing out so we were not letting her be in the bathroom by herself.”

During the video, Falen and Bella also addressed fan speculation that Falen has a… unique relationship with Hunter.

“I treat him just like I treat my kids,” Falen said. “I call him out when he needs to be called out. I take care of him just like I take care of my kids. That’s what you do when someone else becomes part of your family, you take care of them…

“We have done a lot for him over the last two years and I’m not going to go into detail because it’s no one’s business but I will tell you he has been through a lot,” she continued. “Hunter has been through a lot, a lot of trauma. And is it getting any better? No, it’s not, because his family’s not making it any better.”

“My parents treat him better sometimes than parts of his family treat him,” Bella said.

(Bella and Falen are obviously referring to Hunter’s father, Casey Johnson, who— as The Ashley told you last month— is currently in a custody battle with Hunter’s mom for custody of Hunter. He has already put a stop legally to Hunter being allowed to spend the night at Bella’s house.)

At the end of the video, Bella and Falen insisted that the shower scene was blown out of proportion.

“I really don’t care what you say because it wasn’t as big of a deal as you’re making it,” said Bella.
