Kail Lowry has no love for TLC‘s teen pregnancy show, ‘Unexpected’ and during a recent interview, the former ‘Teen Mom’ star called out the network (and the show’s stars) for glamorizing teen pregnancy— something she says the girls from the original ‘Teen Mom’ shows worked so hard not to do.
During her recent appearance on The Unplanned Podcast, Kail was asked for her thoughts on ‘Unexpected’ and she did not hold back.
“I don’t love it and I don’t think it’s great,” Kail told hosts Matt and Abby Howard.

Kail spoke about a girl featured on the most-recent season of the show— almost certainly Bella Vaughn— whom she thinks had a mother who “encouraged” her to get pregnant and go on the show. Because of people like this being on the show, Kail implied that ‘Unexpected’ glamorizes teen pregnancy— something the original ‘Teen Mom’ shows certainly did not.
“It’s almost, like, undoing the work that ‘Teen Mom,’ in the beginning, was trying to do, which is to show people that [teen parenthood] is really hard,” she said. “One of us is crying, one of us can’t pay for something, our boyfriend’s breaking up with us. One of us doesn’t have parents.”

“I think the ‘Unexpected’ series is kind of undoing that,” she added.
This is not the first time Kail has come for ‘Unexpected’ and specifically Falen Vaughn (the mother of Bella). As ‘Unexpected’ fans know, Bella got pregnant at 14 by her 12-year-old boyfriend Hunter Johnson. Despite this, Bella’s mother not only signed them up for ‘Unexpected’ but also seemingly put no restrictions on the kids in regard to having sex. (They continued to talk about their sex life on-camera and in front of Falen. She even allowed them to shower together after Bella gave birth.)
During an April episode of her Coffee Convos podcast, Kail called out Falen— and TLC for glamorizing teen pregnancy.

“A mother co-signing and allowing this to happen and making it a joke? No,” she said. “…The fact that they are allowing [the kids’ sex life] to continue is disgusting to me and they should be ashamed of themselves.”
During that podcast episode, Kail’s co-host Lindsie Chrisley spoke about how Kail and her ‘Teen Mom’ co-stars were often accused of glorifying teen pregnancy, but ‘Unexpected’ is actually doing that.
“It’s almost as if these clips [from that show] are intended for rage bait,” Lindsie said.
“Honestly, I think TLC should be held responsible for this,” Kail said. “Because this would be glorifying and glamorizing teen pregnancy.”
On The Unplanned Podcast, Kail also made it known that she won’t appear on any other pregnancy-related reality show, even if one of her kids experiences teen pregnancy. (Kail has one daughter and six sons, by the way.)
“No kid of mine would go on TV as a pregnant teenager,” she said.
She also implied that she and the other girls were taken advantage of when they signed up to be on “16 and Pregnant.”
“I wholeheartedly think that nobody was looking out for us,” she said. “It worked out, but I don’t think anybody was looking out for us. I didn’t even have an attorney look at my contract.”

So she’s jealous other people are getting attention because everyone has Kail fatigue? Got it.
Whatever happened to Kail going away for a while as she said she would? I’m assuming similar to her blog post when she claimed Lux was a planned baby by 2 friends that were just friends and wanted a baby. All lies.
