Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for Season 7 of Love Island USA.
Season 7 of Love Island USA concluded on Sunday, but before host Ariana Madix revealed which pairing had received the most votes from viewers, contestants Huda Mustafa and Chris Seeley made a decision to call it quits, making them the first couple in Love Island history to split during the finale, according to Us Weekly.
As ‘LIUSA’ viewers know, Huda was among the first islanders to arrive at the villa this season, along with her original love interest Jeremiah Brown, with whom she ended things shortly before Casa Amor kicked off in Episode 19. Huda went on to briefly pair off with JD Dodard, before ultimately making a connection with Chris.
While Huda and Chris appeared to be hitting it off with each other, cracks began to form between the two in recent episodes; however, it was revealed on Friday’s episode that they had received enough votes to advance to the Season 7 finale, joined by couples Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales, Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen, and Pepe Garcia and Iris Kendall.
On Sunday’s finale, viewers watched the tension between Huda and Chris ramp up, with both parties questioning their romantic connection, Chris accidentally hitting Huda in the face with a pillow– and not apologizing– during a playful moment before the cast went to sleep, followed by Chris refusing to cuddle with Huda, who proceeded to berate him as he attempted to sleep.

The following day, each of the final four couples were sent on dates, with Huda and Chris being treated to a candlelight dinner in the water–where Chris carried Huda, who didn’t want to remove her heels– along with a live music performance. After the singer concluded her rendition of “Moon River,” Huda decided to conclude her tumultuous pairing with Chris.
“I think we should just be friends,” she told Chris, to which he responded, “OK, cool. No hard feelings. S**t, I already knew, I could tell, so I’ve just been waiting for you to say it.”

As the conversation went on, Huda asked Chris if he would be able to “hang out and not feel weird” around her moving forward, noting that they had formed friendships with some of the same people while in the villa and would presumably be around one another in group settings.
“Right off the bat, I’m gonna be honest with you, no,” Chris responded. “But will I have any hatred towards you? No, not at all. But I need to not like you anymore, so if that means I need to separate myself a little bit, I’m gonna do that.”
Chris went on to deny Huda’s request to carry her back through the water at the conclusion of their date and later that night, he opted not to share a bed with Huda and instead, crashed solo in Soul Ties.
When it was time for the four remaining couples to gather for the ceremony the following day, ‘LIUSA’ producers still required Huda and Chris to partake in reading declarations to each other, despite the two having ended their romantic relationship– the first couple to do so in ‘Love Island’ history.

As fans know, Chris and Huda (rightfully) were not voted the winners of ‘LIUSA’ Season 7 and instead, it was revealed that they had received the third-most votes in the house.
Contestants Iris and Pepe took home fourth place, while Nic and Olandria were the runners-up and Amaya and Bryan were revealed to have received the most votes, earning them the Season 7 crown and the $100,000 prize, which they chose to split.
While the islanders have officially wrapped things up at the villa, the Season 7 cast will reunite next month in New York City for a reunion episode that is set to premiere on Monday, August 25, on Peacock. According to Deadline, Ariana and Andy Cohen have been tapped to host the reunion.
Season 7 of ‘LIUSA’ is currently streaming on Peacock.
