Love Island USA stars JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez shocked fans this week after confirming they had split after a year of dating; however, the alleged reason behind the Season 6 couple’s breakup is proving to be even more shocking– and disturbing.
As fans of ‘LIUSA’ know, JaNa and Kenny were a fan-favorite pairing on Season 6, with the two ending up taking home third place in the finale. After the show wrapped, JaNa and Kenny continued their relationship, some of which is currently being featured on the new spinoff series, Love Island: Beyond the Villa.
With JaNa and Kenny emerging from the villa last summer as one of the season’s strongest connections, fans of the show were quick to notice when JaNa suddenly unfollowed Kenny on social media over the weekend and proceeded to wipe most of their photos from her page. (Several Season 6 cast members, as well as show host Ariana Madix, also went on to unfollow Kenny on social media.)
On Tuesday, JaNa finally took to her Instagram Story to confirm that she and Kenny had, in fact split, while insisting that the many “breakup theories” circulating online about them were not nearly as “terrible, disgusting and disappointing” as what actually happened.
“Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating,” she wrote. “Thank you for respecting my privacy and please know as a child of God, I will always be okay.”
That same day, Kenny also posted a statement to his Instagram Story, telling fans that the past few days had been “incredibly difficult” and that he’d being doing his best to “process everything privately.”
“Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye,” he wrote. “Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term. I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”
Shortly after Kenny posted his statement, JaNa responded, calling her ex a “manipulative liar” and all but confirming that Kenny had done something that caused her to end their relationship.
“You not taking accountability and telling people the type of person you really are is insane to me!!” JaNa wrote. “My first statement was me being nice. Do not piss me off.”
On the heels of JaNa’s cryptic comments, the two other members of the ‘PPG’ trio– Serena Page and Leah Kateb, who also appeared on Season 6 of ‘LIUSA’ as well as ‘Beyond the Villa’– went on to weigh in on the couple’s split, while making it very clear that they were equally disgusted by Kenny’s alleged behavior.
“@kennyrodriguez Put it sock in it ChatGPT headass,” Leah wrote on her Instagram Story. “Tell the truth for once! Racist, clout/money hungry and a scammer since DAY 1!!!! Tryna make it seem like it’s something it’s not. Dw, our Nay is blessed & highly favored.”
Meanwhile, Serena assured followers that while she has JaNa’s back, fans should keep in mind that this situation involves “someone’s actual feelings.”
“It may just be tea for y’all but that’s not the case for us,” she added.
Serena later referred to Kenny as “a narcissist and a racist” in an Instagram comment, while Season 6 cast members and fellow ‘Beyond the Villa’ stars Liv Walker and Kaylor Martin also took to social media to voice their support for JaNa.
While the reason behind JaNa and Kenny’s split has yet to be confirmed, the Instagram account @deuxmoi posted a tip they’d received on Tuesday claiming that the former Islanders ended things after JaNa discovered extremely offensive messages on Kenny’s phone.
“Allegedly the tea on the breakup is that she found texts on Kenny’s phone about his plan to stay with her for business/clout, texts with friends calling her [racist] names which aligns with both Leah and Serena’s statements calling him a clout chaser and racist,” the individual claimed.
The account also shared a screenshot from an Instagram Story that JaNa’s best friend reportedly posted and deleted, in which she advised women in relationships to go through their partner’s phones, while seemingly hinting at what JaNa may have discovered on Kenny’s.
“Search keywords like ‘I don’t like Black women, I thought I would get more money from this, I’m faking this relationship, going on the show would be for clout, I can’t wait to be done [with] this so I can f**k hella b*tches… ,” JaNa’s friend allegedly wrote, adding, “You’ll thank me later. P.S.– NEVER spare a man.. Dog them out babygirl.”
Meanwhile, a source told People this week that JaNa and Kenny– who were posting social media content together on Saturday night while attending a birthday party– officially split Sunday morning, with JaNa being the one who called off the relationship.
“They will not be getting back together,” the source added.
Kenny has yet to comment on the allegations against him.
