‘Polyfamily’ Star Taya Hartless Says There Will Not Be a Season 2 of Her Family’s TLC Series: “We’re NEVER Doing Reality TV Again”

“Poly quad out!”

It’s official: TLC’s Polyfamily will not be returning for Season 2.

Just months after the multi-spouse family made their debut on the network, Taya Hartless– part of the “polyamorous quad” featured on the show– has revealed that she and her family have decided to walk away from both the show and reality TV.

Over the weekend, Taya posted a TikTok responding to fans who have been asking for a second season of ‘Polyfamily,’ joking that they can “go f**k [themselves].” She went on to confirm in the caption of her post that she and her family will no longer be sharing their polyamorous-quad journey on TV.

“This just in: we’re NEVER doing reality TV again 😂,” Taya wrote. “To everyone who found us through the chaos and chose to stay, thank you. Your support has made all the difference through this journey. And don’t worry, we’ll keep sharing our story … but this time, we’re taking the mic 🎙️😉.”

As fans of the one-and-done series know, ‘Polyfamily’ followed two married couples as they navigated living together and raising a family as a “closed quad.” That “closed quad” consists of Sean Hartless, his wife Taya, his girlfriend Alysia Rodgers and Alysia’s husband Tyler Rodgers, who is also Taya’s boyfriend.

On the show, it was explained that, before forming their quad, Sean and Taya had been married for six years and Alysia and Tyler had been married for 11 years, during which the latter couple welcomed two children. After becoming a closed poly quad, the family welcomed three children, though the paternity of the three kids is unknown– by choice.

Despite the show disclosing some of the quad’s history with viewers, Starcasm reported before the show’s premiere in April that Sean had previously been married twice and had fathered three additional children– none of which were mentioned on ‘Polyfamily.’

It was also revealed that both of Sean’s ex-wives had filed motions for temporary custody modifications in 2016, noting in their respective motions that they had been informed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) that Sean was being investigated for “inappropriate sexual interactions with a minor child online.” (According to Starcasm, no criminal charges were pursued related to the allegations against Sean.)

While it was revealed that the family (or at least Sean, anyway) had some skeletons in their presumably shared closet, TLC was still reportedly interested in moving forward with another season, but the poly quad didn’t share the same feelings.

In fact, according to Sarah Fraser of The Sarah Fraser Show, the network “really did want a Season 2” of ‘Polyfamily’– which was allegedly slated to be a Sister Wives replacement– “but it was the family’s choice to step away” as a result of the “rumors” surrounding Sean. Sarah claimed that while the poly quad was aware that details about their back story would come out in the public (including the fact that Sean has children from prior marriages), they “didn’t anticipate the kind of vitriol that came for them.”

“I feel your pain, man.”

On Tuesday’s episode of her podcast, Sarah told listeners that while TLC has yet to make an official announcement about the show’s future, sources have claimed that the foursome decided to opt out of filming Season 2 due to Sean being “really dragged through the mud” for his controversial past, including allegations that he’s “into underage girls.”

“ … the family apparently was so distraught by this, so distraught,” she said. “They did not think it was gonna get as nasty and dirty as it was on the internet. [They] have now backed off and they don’t wanna do Season 2. It’s not that TLC doesn’t want to.”

  1. This has been the biggest dumpster fire ever promoted by TLC. I feel horrible for the children.

  2. That is excellent news! I watched a few episodes of this and it is an even bigger pile of trash that Sister Wives ever dreamed of.

The men don’t like one another, even said if they were not in a relationship with the others wife they would not be friends at all. Yet they still tried to find a legal loophole to allow all four adults to have equal rights to all the children, the oldest two who lived the first chunk of their lives as a normal family. No. Just no. All of a sudden their two oldest children are expected to live with and listen to two more adults who are just extra parents and everyone lives together? Always the kids that the short stick.

  3. First rule of ‘reality’ TV: if you did it and weren’t supposed to, congratulations! You just won a trip to the land of awkward family dinners and endless gossip! Seriously, if you think a secret can stay buried, just remember—there’s a camera on you, a confessional waiting for your tearful admission, and a slew of ruthless ‘influencers’ digging in every crack to get views.

  4. Good. Quit normalizing this shit. Willingly choosing to stay ignorant about who fathered each child? Do you have any idea the trauma you are willfully instilling upon your children?

  5. I have never seen this show and have no idea who these people are, but they really didn’t think a guy who has been accused of being a pedo was gonna get dragged through the mud? Cmon now…..

  6. You should always expect your skeletons to fully come out of the closet when you sign up to do reality TV. Your husband/boyfriend is a piece of shit.
