An online fundraiser has been launched on behalf of Big Brother 27 star Mickey Lee, who is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) after suffering a series of cardiac arrests.
In a post shared to Mickey’s Instagram page on Monday, it was explained that the reality star had suffered the medical emergency following “complications from the flu.” The post also stated that Mickey is in “critical but stable condition.”
“She has been surrounded by medical professionals and loved ones, but the road ahead will be long and challenging,” the caption on her page continued.
According to the latest post on Mickey’s social media page as well as the GoFundMe that was launched by her loved ones this week, the 35-year-old’s sudden health crisis has left her and her family “facing enormous emotional and financial strain from mounting hospital bills to ongoing care and recovery costs.” To help offset these costs, funds are being raised online, with all money set to go directly to Mickey’s care and to “help ease the burden on her loved ones during this difficult time.”
The GoFundMe description explains that funds will specifically be used for medical expenses that are not covered by insurance; ICU and specialist care; rehabilitation and recovery support; as well as family travel, lodging and related costs. The fundraiser organizers are also asking Mickey’s fans and friends for “prayers, positive energy, and healing thoughts for Mickey.”
“Mickey has touched so many lives through her courage, bold personality, and unforgettable presence on ‘Big Brother,’” the fundraiser description states. “Let’s show her the same love and support now when she needs it most.”
By Monday afternoon, nearly $8,000 had been contributed to Mickey’s GoFundMe; as of Tuesday, that amount had nearly tripled to over $23,000.
“Thank you all for your continued love and support for Mickey,” Kori Smith, one of the two GoFundMe organizers posted to the page on Tuesday. “Please continue to keep her uplifted in your prayers and thoughts. We are truly grateful for every prayer, every kind word, and donation! Your support means more than we can express.”
On Tuesday, an update was posted to Mickey’s Instagram Stories, letting fans know that Mickey “remains stable.”
“On behalf of Mickey, her family and friends would like to GREATLY thank everyone for their positive thoughts, prayers, support and donations,” it read. “It will warm Mickey’s heart with joy when she sees how much support she really has. She remains stable. We thank God. Please continue to pray.”
