It was a showdown of former soulmates in a North Carolina courtroom on Monday when Jenelle Evans and her ex-husband David Eason saw each other face-to-face for the first time in months!
The fired Teen Mom 2 stars were in court to face contempt charges that each had filed against each other. As The Ashley previously told you, Jenelle was the first to file contempt against David back in October, only to have David file contempt charges on her two months later! Both asked the judge to imprison their ex until they abided by the divorce court order from last summer, which divided up assets and debts between the couple.
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that both Jenelle and David were present in court for Monday’s hearing, but neither of the swampy ex-soulmates ended up in handcuffs.
“Jenelle was late for court, but David was actually on-time, and the judge was annoyed that Jenelle couldn’t make it on-time. The judge took another case while they waited for Jenelle to get there,” The Ashley’s court reporter stated.
“She finally strolled in, wearing a nice pantsuit.”
(Sadly, The Ashley can’t confirm if Jenelle was sporting her trusty “more-classier” court heels or not.)
“Once Jenelle arrived, her lawyer and David’s lawyer told the judge that both had agreed to drop their motions for contempt after reaching a conclusion.”
“The judge was actually pleased that she didn’t have to rule on the contempt motions and told them she was happy they were able to work it out on their own,” The Ashley’s reporter stated. “She then OK’d the dismissal.”
Jenelle and David— who were seated on opposite sides of the courtroom— did not interact with each other at all, The Ashley’s reporter stated. Neither had anyone with them besides their attorney. (As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know, Jenelle had to fly across the country to North Carolina for the hearing, as she currently lives in Las Vegas. In December, she had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation surgery, so this was the first time David saw her “new” body.)
As The Ashley previously told you, Jenelle claimed in her motion for David to be held in contempt that David has refused to pay on loans and debts he acquired from their divorce settlement agreement. Because David hadn’t taken possession of the loans, Jenelle’s name remains on them and, because he has not allegedly paid anything toward them, Jenelle claimed that the debts are “now negatively impacting” her credit score.
In December, David asked the judge to hold Jenelle in contempt, claiming she has refused to pay him more than $9,000 she owes him from the divorce settlement. He also stated that Jenelle had not given him some of the items he had been awarded in the divorce, such as her BMW, a Jeep, her wedding ring and more.
Despite the dueling contempt charges being dismissed, Jenelle and David must still face off in court again. This time, they will be battling each other for custody of their daughter, Ensley.
A scheduling conference has been set for March 9, in which it will be decided when the former King and Queen of The Land will fight it out for permanent custody of their daughter, as well as child support. (As The Ashley told you, David has not seen Ensley in almost two years, and has not paid Jenelle any child support in that time, despite Ensley living full-time with Jenelle in Las Vegas.)
Despite not having seen his daughter in almost 24 months, David asked the court for full custody of Ensley back in March 2025. He is also requesting that Jenelle be required to pay him child support. Jenelle also wants full custody of Ensley, with David only getting visitation with his daughter after he takes a court-ordered psychological evaluation. (Based on court records obtained by The Ashley, it does not appear that David has done so yet.)
“I’m looking to have sole and legal custody of Ensley and I think I’m a fit parent,” Jenelle said on the stand an August 2024 hearing. “I think I’ve done most of the raising of Ensley, or all of the raising of Ensley since she’s been born, making sure she’s healthy and doing well in school, and making sure she’s at school on time, making sure she’s in extra-curricular activities. I pay attention to her mental health.”
In his counterclaim from March 2025, David disagreed, although he did note that he feels both he and Jenelle are “fit and suitable persons to have the custody and supervision of said minor child.”
He asked that the court decide how custody and visitation of Ensley should be divided between him and Jenelle, given the “circumstances” of their nasty split.
On Christmas, Jenelle posted on social media that none of her baby daddies sent their kids anything for Christmas. The dig was pointed at David (as her son Kaiser’s father Nathan Griffith is currently in prison, and her first baby daddy Andrew Lewis has a relationship with her eldest son Jace, as they have reconnected and both live in North Carolina.)
“Another Christmas, another year no baby daddies buy their kids any gifts,” Jenelle posted woefully on Christmas Day.
When fans pointed out to Jenelle that she picked the men who fathered her children, she became defensive.
“Let me get my scanner out to see if they are ‘decent men’ you can’t just look at someone and ‘pick them’ because they seem good,” Jenelle replied on X.

Requesting full custody of a child he hasn’t seen in two years, while having pending charges for child abuse is so wild.
Anytime the words “baby daddies” is said by one person, their credibility automatically becomes less credible.

I laughed my ass off at her statement about how she takes such good care of Ensley! “Make sure she gets to school on time.” Does she not see how stupid that sounds when she herself can’t make it to COURT on time!! LOL! LOL! And she said “I pay attention to her mental health.” Really Jenelle? Too bad you never bothered with your FIRST borns mental health!! You took away his medication. You called the cops on him. You let your swamp-pile husband choke him and beat the hell out of your SECOND born! Yet you have the audacity to claim you watch over her mental health? Well she’s your THIRD born. Maybe the third time will be a charm.
Am I mistaken that CPS was involved again after Kaiser and endsley were riding bikes unsupervised during school hours?
