Days after Summer House stars Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula announced they were calling it quits after four years of marriage, Kyle is admitting that the split was “not some big surprise.”
“It was, like, the worst kept secret, but we just weren’t ready to talk about it,” the Loverboy founder/DJ told Adam Glyn of the Hollywood Raw podcast in a video shared to TikTok on Thursday.
As The Ashley told you earlier this week, Kyle, 43, and Amanda, 34– who began dating, got engaged and tied the knot in front of ‘Summer House’ cameras– confirmed their separation on Monday in a joint statement, telling fans they had parted ways “mutually and amicably.” Still, Kyle revealed on Thursday that both he and Amanda were preparing for the public’s response to the news of their split.
“It’s a lot to swallow when your entire relationship from the very, very beginning is on TV,” he said, as reported by Us Weekly. “So we knew it wasn’t gonna be easy … .”
As Bravo fans know, Kyle and Amanda’s relationship was hit multiple times over the years with infidelity rumors and separation speculation, notably in November, when people online suspected that the pair were living apart. While Kyle and Amanda’s split may have been a long time coming, Kyle maintains that there’s still a lot of love between the two.
“I think people will be surprised but also happy to see that Amanda and I are in a good spot,” he said. “Obviously the internet’s gonna do its thing, but you know, we literally pushed send [on the announcement] together.”
Another thing that Kyle and Amanda will be doing “together” despite their split is press for the upcoming season of ‘Summer House,’ which premieres February 3.
“This isn’t like a big breakup where there’s a smoking gun and there’s a lot of hate … ,” he said of working alongside Amanda. “We got each other’s back.”
Kyle also gave some insight as to what viewers will see in Season 10, insisting that he and Amanda were still navigating their relationship as cameras were rolling.
“We weren’t lying about [our relationship],” Kyle claimed. “We didn’t split, we didn’t separate. We were trying to figure out the best way to give our relationship another shot. And ultimately, we decided we don’t wanna give each other false hope, we don’t wanna give our friends and family false hope, we don’t wanna give fans false hope … .
“There’s no playbook,” he continued. “We were very much on the same page where we knew we needed to create some space … This is not some big surprise.”
Weeks before the couple confirmed their split, Amanda hinted at the heaviness in store for Season 10, telling Us Weekly that it would be a “very raw season.”
“We’re figuring out what we want out of life and out of the relationship,” she said. “We’re sort of trying to talk through that and figure it all out in real time. It’s going to be a very raw season.”
While neither Kyle nor Amanda have specified when they decided to call it quits, a source told Us Weekly that the two separated in the fall and were “technically” already “separated” when they attended BravoCon in November.
A day after Amanda and Kyle made their joint announcement, Bravo’s Andy Cohen addressed the news on Watch What Happens Live, even dubbing the couple’s breakup as his “Jackhole of the Week” on Wednesday’s episode.
“Tonight’s ‘Jackhole’ goes to the bombshell news that broke over the last 24 hours that Summer House’s Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula have broken up after four years of marriage,” Andy told viewers. “I am sure that was a difficult decision, but we are proud of you two for choosing what is best for you because, to paraphrase a certain someone, ‘marriage should be fun.’”
Kyle went on to comment a crying emoji and heart emoji on a clip of the segment that was posted to Instagram.
Season 10 of ‘Summer House’ premieres February 3 on Bravo.

Im looking forward to the new season, and the spin off.
That man needs to find someway to pass those genes on though. His skin should not look that good given his lifestyle, but it does. Hope the two of them both find more compatible mates.
