Vanderpump Rules-turned-The Valley star Brittany Cartwright gave fans an update this week on her “up and down” co-parenting relationship with ex Jax Taylor, while revealing that she and Jax have yet to finalize their divorce, nearly a year and a half after she filed to end their union.
During a recent appearance on Harry Jowsey’s Boyfriend Material podcast, the 37-year-old Bravo star opened up about sharing parental duties with Jax, the father of her 4-year-old son Cruz. (As ‘The Valley’ viewers know, Brittany revealed in April 2025 that Cruz was diagnosed with autism in 2024.)
While Brittany maintains that she and Jax chose to separate in early 2024 so that they could both be “better parents” to Cruz, she revealed this week that she and her ex continue to struggle when it comes to co-parenting their son.
“It’s a lot, it’s up and down,” Brittany said. “It depends on the day, it depends on the mood … .”

When asked how she stays strong amid the less-than-copacetic co-parenting situation, Brittany said she focuses on putting Cruz first, something she said Jax also prioritizes, despite the many “hard moments” they face along the way.
“I just make sure I get everything done … ,” she said. “Cruz comes first no matter what and his dad feels the same way, so things are better, but there are definitely a lot of hard moments. It’s hard whenever you can’t get along with somebody to also co-parent with them. So I’m really trying my best, you know? I’m trying so hard for my son, I am.”
Brittany also confirmed that her divorce has yet to be finalized, while explaining to listeners what– or rather who– the main hold up has been.
“The hardest thing about the actual divorce is just that it keeps getting pushed back, and pushed back, and pushed back,” she said. “There’s just been a lot of things that were happening and [Jax] didn’t turn in things on time, or they needed something from me, or [Jax] was out of town for something and we had to move the date, so it’s always just been something happening.”

Brittany said that she now has all of her paperwork for the divorce submitted and is “good to go” on officially ending her marriage to Jax; however, she also admitted that the process has been far more involved than she imagined it would be.
“ … it was so strange, all the stuff that you have to do [to get divorced] that I didn’t realize,” she said. “You have to get every single file, bank accounts, I mean, everything you can possibly imagine has to be in and ready, and I have all that stuff in, but if the other person doesn’t then it just keeps getting delayed and delayed.”

Brittany– who described herself on the podcast as “single as a Pringle”– said if everything goes as planned, she hopes to be “divorced within a month.”
As you may remember, Jax announced in July that he would be stepping away from ‘The Valley’ after Season 2 to focus on his sobriety and mental health, so fans won’t be seeing the former SUR bartender in the upcoming season. As for Brittany, she will be returning to the Bravo series for a third season, which she promises will be much lighter and more fun than Season 2.

“It’s going to be great as always,” she said of Season 3. “There’s a lot of funny moments. Last season was so dark. It was very, very dark last season and it’s not going to be that dark this season, but we will still have plenty of drama … .”
Brittany also shared on ‘Boyfriend Material’ that she’s earning more than $25,000 per episode on the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ spinoff going into Season 3.
“I’m not gonna say exactly how much [I’m making] … ,” she noted, only confirming that her salary is “higher” than $25,000 per episode.
