Meri Brown fired back at Sister Wives fans who have turned to criticizing her former sister wife Janelle recently, calling the trolls’ actions “horrible.”
While Meri didn’t reveal the context of the criticism Janelle has been getting lately, many have noted that the ‘Sister Wives’ Season 20 Tell-All didn’t exactly paint Kody’s former second-wife in a favorable light. During the four-part Tell-All, an alleged backdoor deal between Janelle and Kody to sell Coyote Pass was discussed, as well as the tension Janelle and Meri experienced as sister wives after Janelle joined the family.
Despite Meri’s complicated past with Janelle, she and her best friend Jenn Sullivan addressed the backlash being directed at Janelle while speaking to fans on Live recently, during which Meri called the criticism “mean,” “horrible” and “rude.”
“ … and if you’re the one[s] who are doing it, you’re being rude and I’m gonna call you out on it, sorry,” Meri said. “I’m having feelings about this right now … yes, there’s freedom of speech. Yes, you have your right to an opinion. Yes, we put ourselves on TV to open up criticism to our lives. Yes, we did that, I’m not denying that. And we get it all the time, and I get it. But the thing that I don’t think people understand is that we are human.
“We are still human and we still have feelings,” she continued.
Meri and Jenn then confirmed to fans that the latest storm of ‘Sister Wives’ hate on social media has been directed at Janelle– something that Meri called, “absolutely ridiculous.”
“It’s not okay [for this] to be happening to anybody, like, honestly, I don’t understand why people have to just go crazy about somebody,” Meri said. “Like, why do people have to have a ‘villain?’ Why do we have to have a villain? Why do we have to go on the attack?”
Meri reminded fans that they are only seeing “little snippets” of the Brown family’s lives on TV, which also happen to be edited. She then accused viewers of then “filling in the blanks” and of “filling them in so wrong.”
“ … and it’s been a long life that they’ve all led together,” Jenn added, with Meri later noting that she believed there was truth to everyone’s story, as they each have their own perspective.
“ … I don’t know the feelings or emotions that Janelle is going through,” Meri said later in the clip. “And that’s not my business, unless she wants to share it with me, OK? But what I do know is I have been in the same experience where I have been attacked, and I have had death threats, and I’ve had all the hate and it does not feel good, because we’re human … .
“It messes with you, it does,” she continued. “Like, I remember I laid in bed all day … I couldn’t even function … .”
After sharing her take on different people sharing the same experiences, yet remembering them completely different, Meri reiterated that nothing justifies fans going after anyone negatively online.
“The thing is, whatever Kody said on the recent Tell-Alls, whatever Janelle said on the recent Tell-Alls, whatever I believe or don’t believe out of either of them is irrelevant to this conversation,” she said. “It is irrelevant to the conversation, it doesn’t matter.
“What matters is that people don’t need to hate on people and … people just need to remember that we’re human … ,” Meri added.

I think that people who are sending death threats are shitty people. They don’t care that anyone is human or might have feelings because they take pleasure in causing pain to other people.
