UPDATE! Just hours after posting the fundraiser, Kendra’s father has taken it down.
Kendra Caldwell‘s parents are opening up about the crisis they’ve found themselves in, seemingly thanks to their feud with their daughter, son-in-law Joseph Duggar and the rest of the Duggar clan.
On Saturday, Kendra’s father Paul Caldwell launched a GoFundMe asking the community for financial help for his family, whom he stated is “facing a difficult and urgent situation.”
Paul— who, along with Kendra’s mom Christina was very close to Kendra and Joe until about a year ago— noted that they are raising money because they are “in need of support to cover legal fees and [to] secure safe housing.”
As The Ashley previously told you, Kendra’s parents have been living in a home owned by Joe and Kendra since 2021. In 2025, Joe and Kendra’s transferred the home back into their name via a quitclaim deed. In a jail phone call, Joe— who was arrested last month for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl in 2020 while on vacation in Florida— discussed with Kendra how the Caldwells needed to get out of the home. Kendra even stated that her family will be out in a month, and that the Duggars were “going to hold them to it.”
Joe and Kendra have a giggle about that, and Joe mentioned that he already has a list of tasks that need to be done at the house once the Caldwells get the boot.
Despite remaining silent about Joe’s arrest (and later Kendra’s on unrelated charges), the Caldwells are now speaking out via the GoFundMe, letting their followers know that they need a lawyer and “a safe place to live” amid their feud with the Duggars. (Paul did not specifically mention Kendra or any of the Dugs on his fundraiser page, however.)
“My family is facing a difficult and urgent situation,” he wrote. “We are in need of support to cover legal fees and secure safe housing. This has been an incredibly stressful time, and we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and move forward.
“The funds raised will go directly toward legal representation to help us navigate the challenges ahead, as well as finding a safe place to live,” he continued. “Both are essential for our well-being and peace of mind.”
Paul— who shares nine children with Christina— did not specify why he needs legal representation. However, it appears that Joe and Kendra were on vacation with the Caldwells in Florida in 2020 when Joe allegedly committed the crimes he’s been charged with, but it’s unknown if that is related to the Caldwells’ current need for a lawyer.
As The Ashley told you, Kendra mentions in several jail phone calls that the Duggars have been extremely supportive through all of the recent events (with Joe’s mom Michelle Duggar even bailing Kendra out of jail). However, the jail calls make it clear that the relationship between Kendra and Joe and the Caldwells is strained. In one call, Kendra tells Joe that “they” no longer want “Timmy” (who is almost certainly her teen brother Timothy) working as a cleaner for Joe and Kendra’s AirBnB listing.
On Friday, Kendra’s parents made it clear that they are at odds with Kendra and Joe. Paul and Christina– who share a Facebook profile (naturally)— hadn’t publicly updated their social media accounts since 2022, but on Friday posted two new family photos that very tellingly do not feature Joe, Kendra or the couple’s kids. All professional family photos previously posted by Paul and Christina to their Facebook featured the disgraced Counting On stars.
Anyway, Paul thanked those who have supported him and his family in recent days.
“Thank you all so much for your care, concern, and prayers during this difficult time,” Paul— who at one time was Joe and Kendra’s pastor– wrote. “We have set up this GoFundMe to help cover the unknown expenses of legal fees and housing. Anything you can do is a help—even if it’s just prayer. Your support means the world to us as we work to rebuild and find safety.”
As of press time, the Caldwells’ GoFundMe has raised just over $11,300 of its $24,000 goal.

The duggers are the exact reason why I, am so many other children, have left any kind of organized religion or even believe in a god anymore. A higher up member in my church (Baptist, big shocker), victimized so many of us children in the church. One sunday morning agter he was arrested, before we separated for Sunday school, the pastor went on a long sermon about how we need to forgive those who harm us and if we dont, then we’re bad Christians. That only God can judge and if we can’t forgive then we will go to hell. Imagine our surprise when, on the way to Sunday school while the adults were clogging the walk ways to get tea and coffee, he tried speaking to me. Turned out he was on bail. I was 11. I’ve tried to go to church since then, but even with intensive therapy, I likely will never be able to go into a church or listen to prayer music without having a panic attack. Im 36 now. These people do actual damage to children but they don’t care. All they care about is the men around them. Child, and especially women and girls, are just collateral and property.
I’ve been to a bad church like that- and God warns us about them in the Bible…. They don’t represent God.

There’s a lot more to the story. You have to realize that JimBob Duggar controls a lot in the IBLP. He was head elder where Paul Caldwell was pastor and because Paul didn’t do what Duggar wanted him to do he lost his job. Mr. Caldwell was also a mechanic but unfortunately worked in a shop owned by Duggar, so he lost that job as well. Duggar controls the money so he controls the people.
Respectfully, I think that’s the point. If you’re going to let someone else control your financial security and depend on someone other than yourself for a living, this is what you get. I think the Caldwells would get more support if they admitted this was there terrible decision to rely so heavily on the wrong people. Admit the mistake.
Okay, former IBLP here. I grew up in it and bounced at 18. I’m in the same age range as Pest (Josh). Jim Bob has ZERO power within the IBLP. They are pariahs and have been for some time. He may have control at his home church but not the IBLP. The IBLP and your home church are two completely different things in that world. Cults do not like the spotlight. The IBLP is no different. Jim Bob was looked down on for his fame and money chasing and at one point was told TLC was not allowed to film at the yearly conference anymore because the rest of the world was starting to ask questions. The Bates got away with it because Gil IS a big deal in the IBLP. He’s one of the top guys and his kids are AWFUL people but none have been arrested although Lawson came close after the January 6th capital attack. The Duggars aren’t even liked in Northwest Arkansas where they live. Jim Bob has money, not power. The Caldwells are better respected in that world. Most of the money they are getting is coming from IBLP members who want to stick it to Jim Bob. I recognize a lot of the donor names.
Nobody wants the IBLP to fall more than those of us who got out after being abused by them. But every time something like this happens I see comments by people who state what they THINK are facts but aren’t. Just because you read a lot about them online doesn’t make you an expert. When you spread misinformation as facts it feeds into the persecution complex IBLP members have. It’s actually harmful and feeds the cult. Please, respectfully, only repeat FACTS. I beg of you.
