‘Married At First Sight’ Season 20 Experts Paul Brunson & Dr. Lisa Paz Slammed for Making Demeaning Comments About Women

“We might need to do a ‘HOLE’ lot of apologizing after this one…”

The newest ‘Married At First Sight’ experts are under fire after making degrading comments about women.

Fans— as well as ‘MAFS’ Season 1 star Cortney Hendrix— are calling out Paul Brunson and Dr. Lisa Paz for what they said during the September 3 episode of their Love In Session podcast. During the episode, the experts (who joined ‘MAFS’ for Season 20) invited controversial Season 20 star Felipe Cruz to discuss his issues with infidelity, monogamy, and his now ex-wife Tori Dahl. (Felipe became infamous after the show for his “struggle” to stay faithful to Tori, even saying to her that he “constantly” thought about cheating on her.)

The conversation quickly turned to talk about Felipe’s bedroom activities, where Paul chose to refer to women as “holes” used for sexual gratification.

No, seriously….

“This is– no offense, but I just have to keep it straight. How many holes are you sticking your penis in?” Paul asked, referring to women Felipe’s sleeping with.

Dr. Lisa did not shut down the degrading statement and, instead, co-signed Paul’s decision to refer to women as “holes.”

“Oh, yes! I want to know!” Dr. Lisa agreed. “Not [holes] on her body, like as a woman. Like, if we really want to be clear.”

Paul went on to say that answering that question will “let [them] know where [Felipe] really is right now” in his love life post-divorce.

“I’m pretty awful but even I’M more respectful to women than THIS!”

Later in the episode, Paul once again referred to a woman as a “hole.”

“My belief for Felipe is that he’s going to find one hole and he’s going to stick to it,” he said.

Dr. Lisa expanded upon that and told Felipe through laughter, “I believe you’re going to find one woman, three holes!”

All of our faces after hearing them use this “joke” over and over again…

Cortney— who appeared on Season 1— was not amused by the experts’ degrading comments. On Wednesday, she took to Instagram to slam Paul and Dr. Lisa for what they said. Cortney also criticized Peacock—the network that airs ‘MAFS‘—for allowing them on the show.

“These two experts, they go and they say, ‘How many holes are you sticking it in these days, Felipe?’ And then the woman expert says, ‘I feel confident you’re gonna find one woman with three holes!’ Be. So. For. Real,” Cortney said.

“You think you’re an expert and you’re going to refer to female anatomy and sexual intimacy as sticking it up in a hole?” she continued. “Embarrassment. Trash. I’m glad you weren’t my experts! Ew!”

She told Peacock that it should feel ashamed for the conduct of its cast members and suggested the network find new experts if the show continues.

“You know what? I’m sure there’ll be some little apology from [Paul], but you know what? [Dr. Lisa], she owes an apology too!” Cortney said.

Although Dr. Lisa and Paul have not addressed the recent backlash, fans have been taking to social media to condemn their comments.

“His comment is disgusting, rude and disgraceful to women,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I am surprised at their behavior. I have enjoyed watching ‘MAFS’ for years, but after this comment I am done. The comment reminds me of the patriarchal way of thinking, as well as those that think women are to be [owned] and obedient. It’s something I’m not going to support. She is no better than him.”

“Was it something we said?”

“How callous and messed up to laugh and laugh about this nonsense with Felipe when this experience truly hurt Tori bc they chose to pair her with someone who DID NOT WANT TO GET MARRIED. Diabolical,” someone else commented.

As The Ashley previously reported, Paul and Dr. Lisa replaced longtime ‘MAFS’ experts Pastor Cal Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Dr. Pia Holec. In January, producers announced that those experts would not return for Season 20.

Last month, Pastor Cal took to social media to explain that, while he did not choose to leave the show, the layoff has been a “blessing in disguise” for him.

Pastor Cal Roberson
“Glad I’m not part of this degrading dumpster fire anymore!”

“I believe [the people who let me go from the show] were doing God’s work, because I was having some values conflict with things,” he said.

In July, Pastor Cal made similar statements about his ‘MAFS’ exit. He stated the show was moving in a “completely different direction,” and again mentioned the “values conflict” he’d been having with the series.

Peacock has yet to issue a statement regarding Paul and Dr. Lisa’s comments.

Lifetime has renewed “Married at First Sight” for a 21st season, although the network has not clarified whether the experts will return.
