‘Love is Blind’ Stars Stew Stewart & Jax Guelli Reunite to Discuss Status of Their Engagement After Jax’s Sudden Departure from Show

“Soooo Jax…. should I take down my ‘Kennedy Wedding Inspiration’ board on Pinterest or…?”

After an incredibly awkward proposal (with an even more awkward ending), ‘Love Is Blind‘ stars Jacqueline “Jax” Guelli and Scott “Stew” Stewart met up again to talk about what happened between them.

After making a connection in the pods, the newly engaged fiancés met face-to-face. After an awkward first meeting, Jax abruptly left the pods without talking to Stew first, leaving Stew stunned and wondering if he was still engaged to Jax.

In Episode 6, the couple reunited to hash things out over dinner.

I’ve never seen someone so happy to be broken up with…

“You know, at the reveal, I was thinking this [relationship] could potentially happen,” Stew told Jax. “And then [the producers] mentioned you weren’t there. At first, I thought it was a joke. Then, I was like, why not just the benefit of a conversation?”

Jax took accountability for walking out, admitting that production “gave [her] the option” to talk to Stew before leaving, but she refused.

“I shouldn’t have done [that] and you don’t deserve that,” she said. “And, obviously, we’re compatible on paper. It’s just taking it off the paper and seeing what happens.”

Stew then doubled down on his attraction, commenting that the two are “probably far more compatible” than he previously thought. Jax did not agree with him but agreed that “nobody can explain that feeling” they had when talking in the pods together.

“Why can’t you just looooooove me?”

“I remember I was literally withdrawing from the experience,” she said about her sudden exit. “Like, I needed to hear [my parents’] voice. […] They were like, ‘You should make this work!’ Like, they still want to meet you. They feel like you’re a part of my story and, in some way, you really are.”

“[This] would be the craziest thing ever if it worked,” Stew said. “That would be something incredible. That would be something really special, and I still have hope for it. Like, I haven’t written it off yet and I don’t want to, necessarily.”

Jax explained that she came back because her sister and friends convinced her to give Stew another chance. She noted that because they usually criticize her dating life, their approval of Stew made her pause and reconsider.

“I definitely needed convincing to come back to Mitt Romney 2.0…”

Although Stew still has hope for the relationship, he did open up to Jax about how one-sided the relationship felt in the pods.

“I gave you every day,” he said, adding that he offered several dates to Jax for when they could meet up to talk. “I felt like there was no attempt on your end to actually try and make that happen. In that lack of response, it’s kinda like maybe this isn’t real. Maybe it’s not real at all.”

“My expectations were to be blown away by a connection,” Jax said. “I just wanted it to be more like how we were in the pods. Maybe we’re just friends.”

“You’re gonna turn down a guy who looks like a KENNEDY?! Come on!”

The conversation appeared to end there, with Jax and Stew walking away. They did not appear in the episodes following the dinner and did not appear in the promo for the next episodes.

In an interview with TODAY, Stew shared where he and Jax are today after their tense sit-down. He confirmed that even though they are not engaged anymore, they still remain “great friends.”

“I think the pods was such an intense experience, and it accelerates relationships so much that I think we both kind of lost our bearing once we got back to the real world,” he said to the outlet. “I think it just took some time for each of us to resettle, reconnect with our friends and family (and) reconnect with normal life.”

Earlier this week, Stew shared that he regretted how he proposed to Jax and knows now what not to talk about when down on one knee.

“Maybe a proposal isn’t the best time to bring up how I think the [New England Patriots] are gonna do next year,” he said. “Who knows, by the end of this, maybe there will be a ‘How Not to Propose Through a Wall 101.’”

New episodes of “Love is Blind” drop Wednesday on Netflix.
