Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. The media has been itching to find some dirt on any of the current American Idols and they’ve finally done it. The Ashley was doing her own research on these kids and wasn’t able to find much, only that James Durbin liked to sing about having sex with women and whores.

Luckily, E! News was able to dig up some juicer dirt on contestant Stefano Langone. Apparently, he’s been in trouble with police TWICE for getting down with his bad self! The first time was back in 2008 when he was cited for marijuana possession. (Maybe he should go hang out with Teen Mom 2’s Smokey Joe?)

More recently, Stefano was arrested for driving under the influence in May of 2010. According to this story  cops stopped him for speeding and failing to signal before changing lanes. He had been partying with friends in Belltown,Washington.

According to the report, “Stefano smelled of alcohol and authorities noticed his eyes were bloodshot, watery, droopy and (had) dilated pupils. He was then given a field sobriety test, which he failed. Langone did admit to having one “beer several hours earlier,” and then submitted to a Breathalyzer test. Registering a 0.098 (above the state’s 0.08 legal limit) Langone was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.”

What’s really ironic about this is that just a year earlier, Stefano was almost killed when a drunk driver crashed into him, nearly paralyzing him and leaving him in a wheelchair for awhile. (Here’s info on that crash.)

You’d think after almost being killed by a drunk driver, Stefano would think twice before hitting the keg and then getting behind the wheel.

The Ashley was shocked to hear that Stefano had an arrest record. His “aw shucks” demeanor made it seem impossible that he could do anything wrong. His performance last week was one of the strongest of the night…could this hurt his chances of moving on?

The dirt on Stefano’s arrest is just the latest in a string of ‘Idol’ scandals. Each year, at least one or two stories come out about the contestants that “shock” America: from Frenchie Davis’ nude picture unveil (which she was kicked off the show for), to Corey Clark’s Paula sexy-time scandal with Paula Abdul.

Here’s the best piece of advice The Ashley can give these ‘Idol’ kids: if you’ve been arrested, had sex with your cousin, or were a stripper at a gay club, just admit it. That takes all the fun out of digging up dirt on you. Us journalists will move on if there’s no story to break. Just sayin’.
