EXCLUSIVE: ‘Teen Mom’ Kail Lowry On Why She Joined “Beauty is Sizeless” Campaign

teen mom 2Fans of the show Teen Mom 2 have watched as one of the show’s stars, Kail Lowry, has struggled on-screen with relationship problems, baby-daddy drama and the demands of trying to raise a child while working and going to school. Off-screen, however, Kail has struggled privately with problems with her weight.

When photographer Katie Hedrick contacted Kail on Facebook to see if she would like to take part in a photo shoot for Hedrick’s “Beauty is Sizeless” campaign, Kail jumped at the chance for a number of reasons.

“I have struggled with my weight and weight loss for as long as I can remember,” Kail told The Ashley. “Katie messaged me on Facebook and asked me to be a part of it and before I even read the entire message I said yes. It’s a really good cause.”

Kail’s ability to relate to those battling body image issues was just one of the reasons she wanted to take part in the campaign, which celebrates the beauty inside of a person instead of the size of their clothes. She also wanted to show the girls that watch the show that not all the celebrities they see on TV are perfect, and most struggle with the same issues they do.

“Girls, and people in general, see so many celebrities and people who are unnaturally skinny and not everyone in the world can be like that,” Kail said. “I think with so many people going through body image issues, I could really help spread the word about a really good cause.”

Kail did her “Beauty is Sizeless” photo shoot on June 22 in Pennsylvania, and posted a few of the proofs on her Twitter account. Already, she’s inspired a lot of girls to celebrate their size and shape, with girls taking their own “Beauty is Sizeless” photos and tweeting them to Katie and Kail.

“I want to see ‘Beauty is Sizeless’ everywhere possible!” Katie recently told Starcasm. “We have an epidemic of suicides, self-mutilation, bullying, bulimia, anorexia, and depression caused by poor self esteem, and I want to do my part in alleviating what I can.”

Katie is currently accepting stories and photos for the campaign! Those interested can either join the campaign on Facebook or on its Twitter accounts. (Click here or here for those.)

The final photos from Kail’s photo shoot will be released soon!

  2. This is great, but she should not have mentioned the part about not everyone can be skinny. Skinny people also struggle with body image issues. I thought this campaign was beauty is SIZELESS, not beauty is big too.

  3. Way to go Kail! I think anything that supports showing girls that natural beauty is still beauty is amazing.
