The Ashley never thought she’d see the day where Gwen Stefani was doing country music but… that day has come, thanks to Gwen’s beau, country singer Blake Shelton. The pair, who have been hot-and-heavy since last October, debuted their new song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” on Monday night’s episode of The Voice and things got positively steamy!
While viewers at home saw Gwen and Blake giving each other puppy dog eyes during the performance, an audience member told People that the couple’s first performance of the song was even more hot than the second (which is the one that went to air.)
“The two shared plenty of sweet, intimate moments during their performance, barely breaking eye contact,” the eyewitness told the magazine. “When it came to singing, you could tell they were very much in the moment. Once the song finished, Blake embraced Gwen with a hug and a long kiss on the forehead.”
The song, which is featured on Blake’s upcoming album, “If I’m Honest,” was written by Blake and Gwen last fall. It features some heavy-duty lyrics about being unsure of a new love.
“I never meant to get so into you / Thought I was using you just to get me through / You know I’m broken, I don’t trust anyone / Last thing I needed was to fall in love.”
Blake previously told People that he knows there will be some naysayers in regard to the song (not to mention his relationship with Gwen), but in typical Blake fashion, he says he doesn’t care.
“We were at a point where it’s like, ‘Do we want to go there? What will people think?’ And then we finally just got to the point where it’s like, ‘You know what? I don’t give a s**t,” Blake said. “I love this song! This song’s important to us and the fact that we wrote it together is so important to both of us.”
Blake isn’t the only one who loves the song– “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” is already tearing up the charts. Fellow ‘Voice’ coach Christina Aguilera looked less-than-enthused during the performance, however. Her face was so ridiculous that The Ashley had to make it into a GIF:

I will disclaim there’s something about Blake that makes me uncomfortable. I’ve never liked him for no particular reason I am able to explain. And I’m only a Gwen fan from her No Doubt days. In the 90s I thought she was a bada$$. So strong and confident and knew who she was. (I know that’s perception and teen worship.)
There’s something about this relationship that feels like Gwen is shifting to be who Blake wants. And that they’re playing up for the cameras and his fans. Maybe that’s her problem – she is who men want her to be. She used to seem so interesting and creative. Now she feels muted down. And this song felt like whatever the opposite of personification is.
I didn’t care for the song. I bet I had a Christina face during it. In her defense, Adam didn’t look too excited, either.
It made me uncomfortable. Like I was watching something I wasn’t supposed to. I didn’t like the song either. Idc if they are together, I just hated the performance and the song.
