‘Married at First Sight’ Season 6 Stars Jaclyn Schwartzberg & Ryan Buckley Confirm They’re Getting Divorced

“Yeah…this isn’t gonna work!”

Another Married At First Sight couple bites the dust!

Season 6’s Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley have announced that they are divorcing after less than a year of marriage. The couple, who got hitched in August 2017, struggled in their marriage during the show, but ultimately chose to stay together during the season finale.

According to a source for Us Weekly, though, the couple actually split up “a while ago.”

In fact, according to People, the couple is already divorced!

“Jaclyn and Ryan have divorced as of this month,” a source told the magazine. “They remain friends and are grateful for everything they’ve learned while being married to a stranger.”

Fans were skeptical that Jaclyn and Ryan would stay together, considering their different lifestyles and frequent arguments.

“I want to stay married. But the rest of my life is at risk,” Ryan said during one episode. “When we start fighting, it gets kind of out of control and it’s just like now we are all of a sudden jumping to the end conclusion. We don’t know if this is something we are going to want for the rest of our lives.”

On Thursday, Jaclyn tweeted about the split.

“We are over and trust me we are both much happier and healthier this way,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for all the love and support. We ALL deserve a good love story, whether you find it in high school, tinder, out dancing, on vacation or a show. Love is love, certainly doesn’t judge.”

Currently, the only Season 6 couple still together is Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre, who announced in April that they are expecting their first child. The third couple from Season 6–Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic–decided to get a divorce at the end of the season.

Overall, the couples of ‘Married At First Sight’ have not had much success finding lasting love. While two out of the three couples that were matched on Season 1 are still married, the show has been less successful the following seasons.

To date, all of the couples from Season 2 (which took place in New York City) have divorced (and caused a lot of drama!), as have all the couples from Season 3 (which took place in Atlanta). All three couples from Season 4 have divorced as well.

The Season 5 couples have had (slightly) better luck, but not by much. Danielle DeGroot and her made-for-TV husband Cody Knapek have split, as have Sheila Downs and Nate Duhon. Season 5 couple Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico are still married, however.

With Jaclyn and Ryan splitting, that means, to date, only four out of 18 couples from the show have stayed together. (That’s about a 22% success rate, in case you care.)

The seventh season of ‘Married At First Sight’– which was filmed in Dallas–premieres Tuesday, July 10 on Lifetime.

  1. I like this show but the last two seasons I have started to feel like it’s a bit redundant. The people always say how they want so badly to be married and they will do anything to make it work with their new spouse. Then within a few days of the wedding they are saying they aren’t sure if it will work out because someone didn’t put the cap back on the toothpaste or something equally as stupid. It usually becomes quite obvious why they are perpetually single.

  2. They choose people that don’t actually want to be married or open up. The last few seasons have been better than like 2-4. still a lot of cold people that don’t want to open up to a stranger (the entire premise of the show!)

  3. Ryan was nasty, childish/immature and just wanted to carry on with his single life. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was fooling around as well. I like Jaclyn and always thought that she was in it for the right reasons, a nice woman and was too good for Ryan. Too bad they didn’t pair her with the other gentleman, Jonathan.

    1. Totally agreed! He was downright mean at times and I was surprised she tolerated the pretty obvious pattern of his thoughtless and selfish behavior enough to decide to proceed with the marriage. Ugh.

  4. He wasn’t willing to make any compromises in his marriage! He accused her of not making an effort while he was entirely unwilling to give up his bachelor lifestyle. Boy, bye.
