The Jersey Shore gang recently headed back to the town where it all began– Seaside Heights, New Jersey– but it appears that they were one roomie short for the trip!
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro did not return to New Jersey with the rest of the cast of Jersey Shore Family Vacation to film scenes for the show’s second season. While he has been seen filming (and causing trouble) in Vegas for the last few weeks while shooting for the show, he declined to make the cross-country trip to Jersey, due to the fact that he’s still recovering from (allegedly) being dragged alongside a car driven by his baby mama Jen Harley!
As The Ashley previously reported, Ronnie’s sometimes-girlfriend, Jen Harley, was arrested on June 26 for domestic assault following an altercation with Ronnie. US Weekly reported that Ronnie and Jen were driving home from a BBQ when they allegedly got into an argument and Jen hit Ronnie in the face.
“He asked [her to] pull over and let him out of the car,” the magazine’s insider said. “She stopped, and Ronnie tried getting out and got caught in his seatbelt. Jen started driving away, dragging Ronnie…Ronnie’s face was bloodied and bruised, and he’s got a nasty road rash.”
Jen was arrested for domestic battery after the incident and has yet to speak out publicly about what happened.
Although Ronnie was noticeably absent from the Seaside Heights hi-jinks, the rest of the cast—Deena Cortese, Pauly “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and Jenni “JWoww” Farley —were all seen filming in the town that made them famous on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
The gang hit up some of their old Seaside haunts, including the original Shore House, the Seaside Heights boardwalk and the Spicy Cantina restaurant.
Also present was former ‘Jersey Shore’ star Angelina Pivarnick. She also made an appearance during the show’s first season, which was filmed in Miami. (Angelina can be seen in the Instagram video below, filming with the rest of the cast on the Boardwalk.)
Ashbury Park Press reported that, at first, the borough of Seaside Heights declined to allow the ‘Jersey Shore’ cast to film ‘Family Vacation’ there.
“The borough initially rejected a request from [the show’s production company] 495 Productions to shoot in Seaside Heights, but relented when 495 agreed to their conditions, said borough administrator Christopher Vaz.”
The borough administrator told the newspaper that the town admins eventually agreed to allow the filming, as long as it was kept “low-key” and only took place for two days.
“They basically asked ‘Can we get into the house, the T-shirt store and the Casino to do some scenes,’” he told the newspaper. “We want to celebrate the reconstruction of Casino Pier and the good things that are happening on the Boardwalk.”
Ashbury Park Press also reported that the cast is not finished filming for Season 2. The borough administrator stated that the cast and crew are heading to another New Jersey town to film for the season.
It is unknown if Ronnie will join in for any more filming this season.
According to US Weekly, Ronnie is currently at home in Las Vegas with his baby daughter and other family members.
“His family flew there to be with him,” a source told US Weekly. “He’s recovering from his injuries. He was hurt pretty badly and needs the time to heal.”
It is also unknown if Deena will participate in any more filming for Season 2. On Monday, she announced that she is pregnant with her first child. (She was not present for the portions of Season 2 that were filmed in Las Vegas.)
