Things are looking good for the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, which is more than we can say for most of the couples featured on the “90 Day” shows!
According to Starcasm, the “90 Day Fiancé” spin-off The Family Chantel set a franchise record with its late July premiere, bringing in 1.527 million viewers. The show has continued to score high ratings as the season has gone on.
‘The Family Chantel’ follows “90 Day Fiancé” and 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? alums Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett as they continue to look for some sort of harmony among their families, including Chantel’s parents Karen and Thomas, her siblings River and Winter and Pedro’s mom Lidia and sister Nicole.
Monday’s episode of ‘The Family Chantel’ pulled in an impressive 1.472 million viewers.
In addition to the gold TLC has struck with ‘The Family Chantel,’ the network has also seen increased viewership in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, which debuted with 1.232 million viewers in June and grew nearly 50 percent as of the August 5 episode, which brought in 1.801 million viewers.
The new TLC show is a spin on the original “90 Day Fiancé” idea as it follows six Americans moving to foreign countries to be with their significant others.
While the producers of many reality TV franchises– such as The Bachelor and Teen Mom— have stated that they have to be careful not to “dilute” their brand by adding too many spin-offs, the folks behind the “90 Day Fiance” franchise don’t appear to be worried about that. In the five years since the original “90 Day Fiance” season premiered, there have been FIVE spin-offs added. They include ‘The Family Chantel,’ ‘Happily Ever After?’, and “90 Day Fiance: The Other Way,” as well as “90 Day Fiance: What Now?” and “90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk.”
“90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” and ‘The Family Chantel’ are currently airing Mondays on TLC.
