James Kennedy‘s Tuesday night ended with him behind bars.
TMZ broke the news Wednesday that the Vanderpump Rules star was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence after police were called to a home in Burbank, California— where James purchased a home for him and Ally last year— on a report that James was arguing with a woman.
“We’re told a witness saw Kennedy and the woman arguing … with the reality TV star allegedly grabbing her at one point, though we’re told officers did not see any visible injuries on her,” TMZ reported. (The identity of the alleged female victim is unknown at this point.)
Police investigated the situation and determined it to be a “domestic incident.” James was arrested and hauled off to jail. He was released later after posting the reported $20,000 bail.
According to Ally’s Instagram Stories from Tuesday night, she had been attending a sponsored party for the clothing company Windsor earlier Tuesday night in Los Angeles. It is unknown if James attended the event as well; however, the two were seen at Kathy Hilton‘s holiday party on Monday night together.
As of press time, neither James or Ally have publicly addressed James’ arrest.

While Ally has not been confirmed to be the victim of Tuesday’s alleged event, this is not the first time the couple has been plagued by rumors of domestic violence. Back in February, Ally went on Scheana Shay‘s Scheananigans podcast to address comments made by Bravo star Teddi Mellencamp, who publicly claimed in December 2023 that she and Tamra Judge saw Ally and James get into a “physical altercation” in 2022 while the foursome was in a limo together on the way to a party at TomTom. Teddi claimed that she and Tamra had to get out of the car and separate the couple.
Ally shut down the accusations on Scheana’s podcast.
“That never happened. There was no physical altercation,” she said. “Yes, we were in the car together. I thought we were having fun. We were having fun. But then James and I did get into an argument, but there was no physical assault. I was not bleeding, and they didn’t have to get out of the car and separate us. So that didn’t happen. That’s all I’ll say on that.”
After assuring listeners that James has never “physically hurt” or “assaulted” her, Ally acknowledged that James has a history of “anger issues.”
“We’re good. We’re happy. He’s working on himself. I know in the past that he has anger issues. So I get it,” she said. “But I just want people to know that I’m good and I’m safe and I love him.”

Ally went on to blame alcohol for the argument, which allegedly happened before James became sober.
“We would fight when we would drink. I would drink and pick [fights],” she told Scheana. “When you drink that much and in those environments, it is not great. That’s not who we really are. That’s an example of why he shouldn’t drink.”
UPDATE! James’ former fiancé, Rachel Leviss, as well as his ex-girlfriend Kristen Doute have both reacted to the news of James’ arrest. In addition, Jamie Lynne, a close friend of Scheana Shay‘s, made some alarming allegations against James after the news of his arrest broke. Click here to read what they had to say.

I think Ally is a sweetheart and way to good for James but this statement she made bothers me:
“We would fight when we would drink. I would drink and pick [fights],” she told Scheana. “When you drink that much and in those environments, it is not great. That’s not who we really are. That’s an example of why he shouldn’t drink.”
She is blaming herself for James’ actions. She is blaming alcohol which I’m sure adds to it but is not responsible for his actions. She is doing what everyone does in a DV relationship. I’m sure he gaslights her and she blames herself and believes she did something wrong that caused him to blow up. It is absolutely not her fault but sometimes you can’t see that clearly when you are still in it.
It always bothered me how hard Lisa Vanderpump was for James. It seemed that nothing he did had any real consequences other than not being able to do “See you next Tuesday”. But she would make excuses for him. Most of them made excuses for him.
I wish Ally the best and hope that she is able to separate enough from James to realize she deserves better.
James’s anger was going to get the better of him someday~ I bad for Allie
