Jinger Duggar Vuolo set the record straight on a rumor that’s been circulating about her family for years.
During an Instagram Q&A with fans on Thursday, the former Counting On star addressed a fan theory that has been posted on Duggar fan pages and Reddit threads for years, regarding her daughter Evangeline. Jinger, along with her husband Jeremy Vuolo no longer show the faces of their children publicly. (Jinger and Jeremy also share daughter Felicity and newborn son Finn.)
Not long after Evangeline was born in 2020, Jinger and Jeremy began to cover her face— as well as her Felicity’s face— in photos and videos they posted, stating that they were doing so protect their kids’ privacy. However, some fans believed that Jinger and Jeremy began blurring out their kids’ faces due to a birth defect/disability that Evangeline had that they didn’t want to share publicly.
During her Instagram Q&A on Thursday, Jinger finally addressed the rumor and confirmed that there is no truth to it.

“I’ve never answered this question but sadly it’s been a rumor for years,” Jinger wrote in response to a fan who wrote, “Show us your girls. Is one disabled in some way?”
“We have been blessed with 3 healthy children,” Jinger continued. “But even if God had chosen to give us a child with a medical condition, that would in NO WAY change the way we share them on socials. Every life is precious and a gift from God!”
In her answer, Jinger stated that she and Jeremy chose to stop showing their kids’ faces publicly because of demands like the one shown on her Q&A.
“This is actually why we don’t show our children’s faces to give them privacy,” she wrote. “…we don’t want to subject our kids to how cruel some people can be in their judgements. It’s honestly just sad to see these comments come in.”
Jeremy and Jinger did show fans the face of their newborn son, Finn, last week, just as they did immediately after Evangeline was born. After that, though, the kids’ faces have been covered by the ‘Counting On’ stars. They have stated on multiple occasions that they want their kids to have a private childhood, despite having famous parents.
A private childhood is exactly opposite of what Jinger herself had. Starting around the age of 10, Jinger’s life was documented for various specials/shows. During 14 Children and Pregnant Again — the 2004 one-hour special that helped launch the Duggars’ reality TV career– Jinger had her life documented alongside her family. She would later go on to star on the family’s show, 19 Kids and Counting and later, ‘Counting On.’
Jinger’s family has been respectful of her desire to keep her kids’ faces hidden. In the majority of the photos and videos posted by the Duggars that feature Jinger’s kids, an attempt has been made to blur out Felicity and Evangeline’s faces.

Wow…just wow! How do these fans not see how ridiculous it is to demand they have the right to “see” people’s children just because the adults were on reality tv? Finally, people are realizing they should protect their kids until the kids can decide for themselves how much they want online and “fans” think there’s health reasons why Jinger might be respecting her kids online presents?!
These “fans” sound like the same ones doxxing kids over in Teen Mom land with the latest mess. These crazy people just have lost their minds!
The comment questioning if one child has a disability is vile. I respect the fact that J and want to protect their children’s privacy, but why post them at all? So many of their posts will show the kids’ backs. This just causes questionable comments from disrespectful people. Don’t know them at all.
Good for them! Their children are not public property. What a shocker, someone who grew up on reality television wants to protect her children’s privacy.
That’s a vile question to ask to any person. Why would she be embarrassed to show her kid’s face if she were disabled? People are disgusting
Weirdest rumor ever…
The entitlement to seeing the identities of strangers kids is absolutely gross. Jinger’s response should have been 1. To stop sharing anything of her children on social media for a couple of months 2. To remind people that they are are not owed any photos of her children just becasuse she was on a reality TV show. 3. Just because several of her siblings show their children on their social media channels doesn’t mean that she and Jeremy have to do what they do. 4. Fans need to respect Jinger and Jeremy’s decisions as parents of their three children and move on.
It’s already weird for me when I see the faces of children of people I know. So what if they are hiding their faces?! Don’t people know paedos exist too?! Just because someone is in the public eye, that doesn’t mean their children have to be too (I remember one blogger stopped doing that when her daughter was approached by a stranger that said she is her mommy’s friend-people are weird and kidnapping exists too) I support Jinger 100% on this. If when they grow older, girls want to have their own socials (like Leah Shirley has), that is their own decision but until then it’s on the parent.
I understand jingers decision.
Only time will tell how these reality kids feel about their childhoods being all over tv and social media.
Who leaves comments like that?! It’s creepy. No one has any right to demand to see people’s children. This is why I left the reddit board DuggarSnark. They are vile over there and say the nastiest shit while claiming to be against religious trauma. I don’t agree with the Duggars beliefs but if you want to be bullies, own your shit. Don’t hide it behind crusading.
I think it’s admirable (esp. given Jingers past) that they are giving their kiddos privacy like this. I applaud them both. Imagine if one kiddo was easily recognized going to CVS with a family friend?! The commentary would be insane.
I think they are doing an amazing job. ❤️🙏
do people seriously not think it’s weird to wanna see how someone else’s kid looks like especially demand answers for it??? just because they’re public figures doesn’t mean they have to show or explain what’s going on with their children’s personal lives, like what’s wrong with yall????
