Jenelle Evans and David Eason are (almost) rid of each other!
The Ashley can exclusively report that, according to her court source, the former Teen Mom 2 stars sat through hours of mediation on Tuesday to divide the assets they acquired before and during their marriage, including their infamous home on The Land in North Carolina. On Wednesday, Jenelle posted a photo of herself emerging from a bank, with a caption advising other women never to put assets in someone else’s name.
As The Ashley previously told you, the former soulmates are officially divorced; however, they still had to sit down and figure out who gets what, as well as come to a decision regarding the custody of their shared daughter Ensley. While Tuesday’s mediation did not cover anything to do with custody or Ensley (and has been shelved for a later date), it did decide who got things like The Land, their vehicles and even Jenelle’s wedding ring!
The Land & Property:
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that Jenelle and David agreed (via Zoom) that Jenelle would be awarded the home on The Land and nearly all its contents such as the furniture and electronics. (This is interesting, because Jenelle recently stated that she hates going to that house— due to all the bad memories she has there.) While Jenelle is free to max and relax (and soak up some algae in her pool), David will be close by as he was awarded the parcel of land that contains his wood/metal shop!
In addition to that parcel of The Land, David was also awarded a plot of land he purchased after their wedding down the street and several parcels of “The Land” itself.
Jenelle did receive her “She-Shed” in the agreement though.
Vehicles:
David made out better with the vehicle situation than Jenelle did, even managing to snag the BMW that Jenelle is currently driving in Vegas! (He will have to take over Jenelle’s car payments.) He was also awarded the couple’s broken-down boat that he had previously been living in before moving in with his current soulmate, Kenleigh Heatwole. The boaterhome is currently in North Carolina and is now David’s to do whatever he pleases with it.
Although Jenelle received one car and motorcycle, David was awarded nearly all of the couple’s other cars, motorcycles, ATVs, and motorized toys. (Jenelle did get to keep the golf cart and the couple’s riding lawnmower, which she probably won’t have much use for in Vegas, where she’s currently living.)
Jenelle snagged the kids’ toys, game consoles and bikes etc., while David received his trusty old truck, which Jenelle was hoping to take from her ex.
Weapons:
David was, for some reason, awarded a bulk majority of the couple’s gun stash.
Jenelle, however, got a few guns and the gun safe.
Other Stuff:
One of the most-surprising “wins” for David is Jenelle’s wedding ring, which he was awarded, along with a several other pieces of jewelry. David also managed to get his mitts on his drumset, which Jenelle had posted photographs and videos of herself playing after their split.
Payments:
Jenelle is also going to be making payments to David for a while to help equalize the 50/50 split of assets. She has agreed to pay him more than $30,000. This is not alimony/spousal support or anything to do with child support, just to note.
Jenelle and David are scheduled to meet next week to exchange their stuff, and then will be heading back to court next month (where we assume they’ll be working on the Ensley situation.)

It’s weird to me that he was rewarded her ring. In Mn, once you are married, it’s the woman’s property. Even if it was a “gift.”

I’m not familiar with family law & divorce proceedings but I’m moderately surprised that David’s lawyer didn’t include a non-disparagement agreement as part of settling these cases. JE is making/re-posting content about abuse/how horrible he is & I think they could reasonably argue that it’s hurting whatever reputation he has left. He’s not allowed to post about things but she can? Seems like a no-brainer from his end.
I don’t think the family court can order that, other than no disparaging the other parent in front of the minor child.
The guy abused her kids, killed her dog, and did god knows what else but gets a decent payout.
Stay single, Janelle. Focus on your kids for a change.

No, because Jenelle abandoned all the animals when she moved to Las Vegas. I believe the neighbors took in some or all. Jenelle left all the animals to die!

Hopefully David goes to prison for assaulting Jace. He’ll piss away whatever he got from the settlement and Kenny Lee will be paying David’s legal bills. That girl doesn’t think David will take whatever he can from her just like he did to Janelle. She might actually be dumber than Janelle – and that’s a high threshold for stupidity.

I don’t understand why it’s stopping him from being at the property after Jelly moved across the country. If she’s living on The Land then game on but isn’t there something like stay at least 1000ft from her thing in a RO (being that I’ve been lucky enough not to need a lawyer on speed dial, I’m not up to speed on the ins and outs of ROs)? Seems like there’s more distance than that between Nevada and North Carolina?
Her part of the property is basically worthless as long as his creepy ass is living adjacent. I can’t imagine anyone would buy it and probably not a great idea for her to live there.

There’s no way hes going to be able to keep up on the BMW payments, unless Kenleigh pays. He will get decent money for resale, though (assuming the car is in good condition).
I wonder what kind of dirt David has on Jenelle to make this happen? Did he claim he was a homemaker throughout the marriage since he technically was the one taking care of the house and kids (I mean, he was also abusing them, but he wasn’t neglecting the like Jenelle).
And, yes, Jenelle, most of us have enough sense to not put things we pay for into some jobless man’s name, but thanks for the reminder.
Why would he need any dirt? They were married for years and I doubt Jenelle had a prenup. Taking the fact that David is a psycho loser out of the equation, it is fair to divide assets with your former spouse after a divorce unless you have some other legal document stating assets will be divided in some other way
David is a loser, but they were married without a prenup. It’s not about what dirt you have on someone, it’s about 50/50 splitting of assets. The fact that Jenelle has to pay him equalization payments shows that all his toys do not add up to the house/land/whatever she got. She’s the idiot for not having a prenup and sticking David’s name on everything.
North Carolina is not a community property.50/50 state it has “equitable distribution” which does take into account what each has contributed during the marriage.
I imagine her plan is to sell “the land.” Not sure, since no one is living there, why the court dind’t order it d sold and the proceeds divided, but that’s how they rolled.
Commenting to add that I’ve rarely seen divorces actually be 50/50 and I would have thought that with her having brought in the majority of the income, he’d have needed to show he was actually pulling his weight domestically. I guess it varies by state, though.

I think it may be that North Carolina has joint property laws meaning marital assets must be divided evenly without regard to who paid for what or who brought the assets into a marriage. I think David made out pretty well.
The do not have community property, it’s “equitable” distribution, so they court considers many factors, and they may have taken into account Jenelle brought in the income, but wasn’t doing what most of us would consider ‘work” and for along time, he was also part of that?
