Olivia Plath took to social media this week to slam her former mother-in-law, Kim Plath, for allegedly grooming her to be her best friend when she was a teen and continuing to use her to this day.
As fans know, Olivia is the ex-wife of Kim and Barry Plath’s son Ethan Plath; she also starred on the family’s TLC series, Welcome to Plathville, for six seasons. In recent months, however, Olivia has been very vocal regarding how allegedly hateful and crooked the Plaths are behind-the-scenes of the show.
In addition to calling out her ex-husband’s extremely disturbing behavior last month on social media, Olivia shared details about what she claimed were illegal actions taken by TLC, including how Discovery– the parent company of TLC– allowed Kim to negotiate a show contract for her that resulted in Olivia being the only cast member not compensated for Season 1.
This week, Olivia hopped onto TikTok to make additional allegations against Kim, insisting that the mother-of-ten “groomed” her as a teen.
“ … when I was 16 years-old, me and Kim were BFFs,” Olivia recalled. “ … and the reason why is I met their family at a conference and it all started when she heard that I was playing around with building websites and she asked me to build her family website and it went from there … and she groomed me to be her best friend.
“I was 16, she was nearing 50, and we talked almost every single day– calls, texts, emails, almost every single day,” she added.
Olivia went on to claim that things eventually got to a point where Kim would confide in her about things that she claimed no one else knew. She also claimed that once she and Ethan began courting and she would go visit the Plath family, Kim didn’t like when she would talk to her mother on the phone by herself.
“ … I had to have my phone on speaker so [Kim] could listen and monitor and add her two cents,” Olivia said, adding that, after these calls, Kim would talk to her about whatever she and her mom had discussed on the phone.
Olivia then recalled another time when she was visiting the Plath family and Kim asked her to go on a walk. During their walk, Olivia said that Kim proceeded to tell her about a very disturbing dream she had the previous night.
“She tells me, ‘I had a dream last night and you and Ethan were on a plane that crashed and you both died … and I was of course sad that I lost Ethan, but I was more sad that I lost you, cause I wanna have you as my daughter,’” Olivia said.
While she admitted that she found Kim’s comments “kind of weird,” Olivia told fans she was “pretty brainwashed” at the time due to her growing up in a “cult,” so she told herself that Kim caring about her suggested that she was “mature and worth something.” However, Olivia went on to allege that Kim wasn’t just trying to be her friend, she was “obsessed” with her.
“Like, obsessed,” Olivia said. “And not only did she get me to be her best friend, but she also used me to do A LOT of things for her– one of those things was [taking] photos. Any talent that I had, she put to use for things for her, which is one of the many reasons I later chose not to have a relationship with her. She used me.”
Olivia questioned– for the second time in her TikTok– why Kim (and the Plath family as a whole) continues to use photos on their site that she took years ago, while also publicly claiming to have such an issue with her.
“ … if I’m this big, bad, terrible, horrible witch who just brought nothing but bad into their life, why do they still use my photos on their website,” she asked.
Olivia told fans that she doesn’t know if she has “any recourse” regarding the use of these photos, but said she would “love” if they were removed from the Plath family’s website.
“ … it’s [from] when I was starting photography, it’s [from] 10 years ago, it’s not work I’m proud of,” she explained. “But I don’t think that they should be able to go on TV and tell lies about me and have revisionist history and then still turn around and use my photos to make money off of, let’s be honest, sh*tty products.”
This isn’t the first time Olivia has accused her former in-laws of grooming her in some capacity. In September, she alleged in another TikTok that Ethan’s parents had “carefully concocted and crafted” the young couple’s relationship, insisting that she had “no idea” who she was marrying or “what” she was marrying into.
“You’re the reason we didn’t know each other and by the way, you groomed me to marry your son and be in your family,” she claimed, as reported by In Touch. “So like, you fully chose me.”
Kim has yet to respond to her former daughter-in-law’s claims and at this time, Olivia’s photos are still being used on the Plath family’s website.

Why not go back to her maiden name and lose Plath??
Because she has built a brand and business around her married name.
Agreed! There’s no children so there’s no reason to keep the marital name! She’s inching out every opportunity to make money 💰 off of that name. I don’t think her version of the truth is as truthful as she thinks it is.

When I was 16 I was out hanging out with my friends, driving, having the time of my life. I wasn’t hanging out with 50 year olds. Olivia had to play some part in that weirdness.

Olivia sure seemed to know what recourse she could/couldn’t take when it came to basically holding Moriah’s music hostage though…
She also knew exactly what steps to take when it came to exposing Ethan to the real world as soon as they got married. Personally, I never bought her little miss innocent act.
She’s taken zero accountability for the chaos that went down.
Perhaps, you should watch further. The music was a non issue. She didn’t steal anything or hold anything hostage.

I wouldn’t believe Olivia if her tongue came notarized. She wanted to get away from them to start her life again, so why is she telling this to everyone? She acts like a victim. I don’t care for Kim and really never did. Olivia is wanting to make some $$$ making stories off of her ex inlaws….
