Catelynn Lowell Denies Rumor Stating Her Bio Daughter Carly’s Adoptive Parents Took Legal Action To Silence Her & Tyler Baltierra

“They can’t shut us up!”

Catelynn Lowell is speaking out about a recent rumor circulating the Teen Mom World stating that she and her husband Tyler Baltierra stopped talking about their biological daughter Carly and her parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, because the Davis family took legal action against the Teen Mom stars to make them do so.

Cate hit TikTok Stories on Monday to address the situation, which first came to light from a post by a TikTok creator named @TiffersSaidWhat. In a TikTok comment, the creator claimed that Cate and Ty had been legally “silenced” by Brandon and Teresa.

“They have definitely been silenced and are not allowed to speak about or try to get in contact with her, her family, her friends, acquaintances, peers, church members, etc. and it extends even after [Carly] becomes a legal adult.”

The claim apparently made its way back to Catelynn who, on Monday, joked that she was “still waiting” to receive a cease and desist (from Brandon and Teresa, we can assume.)

She followed it up with a longer message posted to TikTok Stories that specifically denied there being any truth to them being told they aren’t allowed to speak about Carly and her parents.

“I think what is mind blowing is how some ‘creators’ lack integrity and want to spread lies for [views],” Cate wrote. “For people that have messaged me. NO we haven’t been ‘silenced’ or not allowed to talk about our bio child etc. [The creator’s] views are just getting smaller. Sooo they have to come up with some type of BS to stay relevant. Anyways, thanks for all the love, questions and messages. Just don’t believe everything some ppl say!”

Since Brandon and Teresa cut off contact between them and Carly last year, Tyler and Catelynn have been very outspoken against adoption. Earlier this year, the ‘Teen Mom’ stars were very vocal about their specific adoption, as well as things that Brandon and Teresa have said and done. (At one point, the couple even posted their adoption papers from Carly’s adoption online.)

In late May, Cate and Ty announced that while they would continue to speak out about (and against) adoption, they would no longer publicly discuss specifics of their own adoption.

“We may talk about a totally hypothetical scenario involving a girl named Barley and her parents Sandon and Baresa, though!”

This announcement came around the time that the ‘Teen Mom’ stars were found to have been texting people they believed were close to Carly, including people they believed were minor friends of Carly. Tyler addressed the situation on Instagram Stories after the texts were exposed, telling fans not to believe everything that was posted about it online. He also promised that he and Cate would keep their trap shuts regarding their own adoption experience going forward.

“We vowed that after this last episode [of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter] aired, we will not be speaking about our biological daughter or her parents anymore and that’s what we’re going to continue to do,” Tyler wrote at the time. “However, I can’t control if any random content creator, media gossip site, or obsessive hater follow suit and respect that or not. But regardless of whatever new rumors, lies or conspiracy theories that may come up, we will continue to honor what we’ve said and not talk about it… so whenever/whatever you hear about our biological daughter, I assure you it won’t be coming from us.”

Anyway, on Tuesday, the original TikTok creator addressed Catelynn’s posts that deny she and Ty were legally silenced by Brandon and Teresa, doubling down on her claims and stating the legal action came after the texting scandal and that it was Carly— not Brandon and Teresa— who insisted legal action be taken. She stated that she had not claimed that Cate was ever served a cease-and-desist order, as Catelynn had joked.

  1. Anyone notice Cate referred to Carly as “our bio child” instead of using her name? To me, that seems like a damn good indicator that they’ve been told to her keep name out of their (social media) mouths 🤔

  2. If Brandon and Teresa would’ve been cool to not take legal action against Cate and Tyler.
I have a hard time believing they all of a sudden shut up for Carly’s benefit. Either there was legal action taken, the threat of it or a very distant chance the public backlash got to them.

    1. It’s weird. I don’t really follow or watch TM other than on the two subreddits, but have they really stopped talking about Carly? If they have then it must have been legal. Even if their therapists said this Carly fixation is unhealthy and they need to respect her parent’s wishes since she is a minor in their care, they would still be talking about it.

  3. I feel like they’ve got their hands full with Nova and her autism yet still constantly post about the adoption. Guess there’s always time for clickbait and TikTok in your mid thirties..

  4. No matter how it came about, I’m just glad it has all finally stopped. None of what they were doing previously benefited a single person. Not their kids or them, not Carly or her parents. Moving on is what’s in everyone’s best interest. Let the healing begin.

  5. The “quote on quote” has me fucking irate. I fucking can’t! For one, it’s “quote unquote” and you would use quotation marks around the word or phrase and not write it out, you fucking dolt.

  6. Idk, Brandon and Teresa have said they don’t want Carly in the public eye. Catelynn and Tyler have said they will no longer spread about her to the public. So why are random people on social media making videos about Carly and claiming to speak for her. It’s really weird.

  7. Interesting that Cate was so specific to call out a cease and desist when they would likely have been served a restraining order. A C&D isn’t legally enforceable unlike a restraining order.

  8. Cate and Tyler don’t have much credibility. It’s entirely possible that Brandon and Theresa at least threatened legal action given how absolutely off the rails the texting and catfishing thing was.

  9. “I think what is mind blowing is how some ‘creators’ lack integrity and want to spread lies for [views],” Cate wrote.”

Kind of like when Cate posted clickbait that was titled “Why we had to give up Nova” with a close up of Nova crying?
