Christine Brown Reacts to Son Paedon Moving to North Carolina to Be Closer to Janelle Brown: “I Feel Like a Crappy Mom”

“If it makes you feel any better, I think you’re a WAY better parent than dad…”

On Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, viewers will watch as another one of Christine Brown’s adult children reveals they’re relocating to North Carolina to be closer her former sister wife Janelle Brown– a decision the mom of six calls “actually rubbish.”

As fans know, both Christine and Janelle left Arizona after leaving their marriages to Kody Brown. Christine now lives in Utah with her husband David Wooley, while Janelle moved to North Carolina to be closer to her eldest daughter Maddie Brown and her family. On the latest episode of ‘Sister Wives,’ Christine’s daughter Mykelti Brown also made the cross-country move to North Carolina, along with her husband and their three children.

While Christine has insisted that she doesn’t plan to relocate to North Carolina herself, she admits in a clip from Sunday’s episode that it’s hard seeing her family move away, particularly after her only son, Paedon Brown, reveals that he’s also planning to become a resident of the Tarheel State.

“The stabs just keep on coming. I’m feeling like Kody’s kidney right now!”

“Why? Why does he need to move as well?” Christine asks in the clip shared by People. “It’s hard that my kids don’t want to live close to me, yeah, absolutely. What is it about North Carolina that has people moving there?

“It’s insane,” she adds, after calling Paedon’s North Carolina news “actually rubbish.”

While Christine admits that she’s doesn’t understand the appeal of North Carolina, Paedon reveals to his mom that’s his motive for moving has a lot to do with the grief he’s feeling following the death of his brother Garrison Brown, who died by suicide in March 2024.

Garrison and Paedon on ‘Sister Wives’…

Christine went on to remind viewers that Paedon and Garrison not only joined the military together, but that they were also each other’s “best friend.”

“So many parts of their life– they’ve been together and they’ve built a unit,” she says. “They were frick and frack when they were younger. That’s what Kody called them, was frick and frack. They’ve just been a unit, it’s been Paedon and Garrison.”

Similar to his sister Mykelti’s reason for moving, Paedon says being in North Carolina would allow him to be closer to family, including Janelle.

“I mean, Janelle’s lost a son and I lost a best friend,” he says. “And I really want to be close to her. I really want to be close to Maddie’s kids, I really want to be close to Maddie. I just lost a huge chunk of me and it’s not here [in Arizona]. I’m trying to find something that isn’t here.”

While Christine says that her children having a close relationship with “their other mom” Janelle is one of the things she “wanted most” out of plural marriage and that Janelle is someone she trusts to be a good influence on Paedon, she admits that it’s still hard to see her children moving so far away from her.

“It feels like, sometimes I feel like a crappy mom because they’re not choosing to live next to me,” she says. “Sometimes I feel like Janelle’s a better mom because they’re choosing to live next to her.”

“I’ll drink to that!”

In December, Janelle posted photos to Instagram telling followers how “happy” she and daughter Savanah were that Paedon was now a “resident of [North Carolina].”

“He even has a job and an apartment so I figure he is really sticking around,” she wrote, adding, “Maybe Christine should get a second house here.”

Despite Paedon no longer living near his mom, the two appear to maintain a good relationship with each other; however, the same cannot be said for his relationship with Kody. In September, Paedon revealed on TikTok Live that the last time he had “an actual physical conversation” with his father was at Garrison’s funeral last year.

As fans know, Kody is estranged from many of his adult children, including Paedon and Maddie, and he was estranged from Garrison at the time of his death. The father of 18 also has a strained relationship with daughter Mykelti, despite Mykelti previously being close to both Kody and his only remaining wife Robyn Brown.

  1. I mean Christine made it very clear that she didn’t care what any of her kids thought about her relationship with David. Let alone the very quick marriage and having 8 step-siblings shoved into their life. So I am not sure why she thinks they should consider her feelings about where they live?

  2. I’m pretty sure the kids also don’t really feel bad about leaving because Christine has her youngest and also is married now- so she’s not entirely alone. It’s kind weird that she cares so much- first off, they’re adults and adults leave… Also, as you get older you often grow close(r) to siblings…

  3. I think some of this comes from Christine’s new marriage. I promise you the kids aren’t entirely comfortable with it

    1. I agree with you. Just watching their faces when Christine and David were sucking each other’s faces said it all. And the over the top wedding…Christine moved too fast and did not really give a second thought to what any of her kids may have thought, especially young daughter Truely. And even though none of her kids have a relationship with Kody, maybe just maybe they are sick and tired of her constant whining about their father.

        1. Thank you. Certainly Christine has a right to be happy but the way she and David behaved in front of her kids was out of place whether she liked it or not. And then her over the top wedding. And advertising her tattoo. Good grief. Other than Truely, her kids are all legally adults and they are doing what adults kids are supposed to do…make a life for themselves and move on! Obviously Christine has issues with moving on even though she has married David.

  4. Janelle just posted about building a place in Utah or Nevada. So if all the kids are following Janelle, Christine may get her wish that they will all move back closer to her.

  5. Christine’s feelings are understandable, but I think she needs to be more careful about expressing them. I’m sure she doesn’t want her kids or Janelle to feel bad about the situation. The truth is that she’s a great mom. She helped build a stronger relationship with Janelle after the divorces. Because of that, now her kids are getting that sense of a bigger family again.

  6. Janelle is much more of a “doing stuff and being quiet” mom where as I feel like Christine is a “talk and cry about your feelings” mom. I’d want to be around Janelle too if I were Paedon.
