Is ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ Cancelled? Catelynn Lowell Reveals What the Cast Was Recently Told About the Show’s Future

“Get it together, MTV! I don’t want to have to change my career from being a thirty-something teen mom!”

Catelynn Lowell recently gave fans an update on the future of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

Since Season 2B ended in May, the cast has not been filming and has not been informed if the show will be getting a third season. (Various cast members have stated that the show is over, but as of press time, The Ashley has not received confirmation from any of her production sources that the show has been officially cancelled, just FYI.)

During a Live with YouTubers Elle Bee and Rei Clarke on Monday night, Catelynn revealed what she and Tyler Baltierra have been told regarding the future of ‘Next Chapter’ and other ‘Teen Mom’ spin-offs.

“We should hear something soon,” Catelynn said, adding that the network did layoff a lot of staff for the show last week.

“I better keep my job. I’ve been called white trash by Farrah, removed Briana from a kitchen chandelier during a fight and dealt with these clowns for year! I deserve my job!”

“But they kept two of our high, high executives on our show, so that’s a plus,” Catelynn said. “But you never know. Basically what [the network] is doing now is they’re going through every show and everything that they own with a fine-tooth comb and they’re figuring out what costs too much money to make and what doesn’t. What makes them the most [money], you know what I mean?

Over the last few months, MTV has ended several of its long-running reality TV shows, including Catfish and Ridiculousness. (Thankfully, we’ll always have the reruns— which seemingly run 23 hours a day on MTV now— to remember ‘Ridiculousness’ by.)

While the ‘Teen Mom’ cast and fans are anxious to see if we’ll get another season of watching Maci guzzle Bud Lights and Cheyenne brag about how rich she is, Catelynn said that, legally, the network doesn’t have to inform the cast if the show will continue until mid-2026.

When Maci realizes she could make another whole year’s salary just for drinking beer on TV…

“They don’t have to give any of us ‘Teen Mom’ people an answer until, like, May,” Catelynn said. “May-something is when our contracts are coming up [for renewal].”

(As The Ashley has previously told you, the cast contracts generally extend for one calendar year after the last episode aired. The last episode of the show aired on May 22, 2025, so that date in 2026 would be the date the cast’s existing contracts would be up.)

“[The network] is obligated to give us an answer by that time, basically,” Catelynn said, adding that the cast would have to be informed if the show was, indeed, cancelled officially. “But we haven’t heard anything. We haven’t heard anything bad [about it being cancelled].”

During the interview, Catelynn also addressed recent claims made on TikTok Live by her co-star and former (?) friend Amber Portwood. As The Ashley told you, Amber has been squawking that her quitting the show earlier this year is the reason ‘Next Chapter’ got cancelled, and that she played a large part in the ‘Teen Mom’ cast “losing their jobs.”

“All of that is not factual,” Catelynn said of Amber’s claims. “She’s not the one paying the bigwigs that ran our show who are still there getting paid.”

“They’ll get paid when I say they’ll get paid! MTV knows not to mess with a rill woman who’s been to gel!”

Catelynn was asked what she and Tyler plan to do if the show is, indeed, cancelled and, surprisingly, it didn’t sound like the couple has much of a plan, outside of trying to grow their Cate & Ty Break It Down! podcast.

“I think we’re just going to keep hustlin’ the podcast, honestly,” she said. “I feel like that’s a certain platform where we can be who we are and we can talk about whatever we want to and not feel like we have to talk about certain things.”

“What am I supposed to do? Like…work a real job?”

Catelynn clarified that, even if their cushy MTV paychecks are cut because the show ends, she will not throw Tyler back onto OnlyFans, where he was supposedly making a lot of money previously. (Tyler stated earlier this year that, although his red thong pics were raking in the dough for him and Cate while he was on OnlyFans, he took his page down because he was worried it would negatively affect his relationship with his bio daughter Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis. Carly’s parents ended up cutting off Cate and Ty from Carly regardless, though, last year.)

“That would definitely make me some decent cash on the OnlyFans!”

“I thought about joining Feet Finder, though! I’ve got some pretty feet!” Cate said, to which Tyler yelled, “Yeah right!”

  1. I think show show continue because of all these new new babies being born. There’s still stories to be told.

  2. They’ve have many many years to obtain some sort of a career choice.

I thought Cate and Tyler were going to get some kind of a profession to work in. They had to have known that the gravy train one day would end and now that it has what they’re going to do for income is beyond me.

Tyler and Cate are going to have to actually work now for a living like all of us have to. Their bills aren’t going to be paid with Tyler’s dick pics that’s for damn sure. Unless he decides to go back to New Orleans and get paid for lord knows what but I’d imagine their lives are going to change dramatically.

I give them less than 3 years to be broke have to sell their home and then go back to the trailer park. Knowing both of those nimrods they haven’t saved a dime.

  3. Well, I’m curious to see how they will liquidate their debts C&T and M&T.
Heads up: IRS won’t forgive the debt.

  4. I’ve been watching since 16 and pregnant! However I cant get any of the new ones on my MTV on Discovery+. Its very frustration. Please air it there!!!
I think they should film a show with the normal cast and the kids while they’re going through teen years etc. MACI, CATELYN, LEAH KAIL,CHELSEA,
Then take these 100% self-centered DRAMA Queens to a remote island and see who survives… they would probably eat each other.
    FARRAH & her mom
    AMBER & her mom
    JENELLE & her mom
    ASHLEY & her mom
    BRIANNA & her mom
    Just don’t cancel the show!!!

    1. i think it’s just time to stop teen mom franchise as a whole tbh, they got their message across about teen pregnancy and the statistics have gone down tremendously since then and was already low when they started young and pregnant!

  5. If anyone from the teen mom franchise goes into poverty at the shows ending, they deserve every single bit of it. With the amount of money they’ve all made, my kids and I would be set for LIFE. If they didn’t prepare for real life, knowing darn well the ride would eventually end, then they have not grown up, they’re just kids playing dress up.

  6. No marketable skills other than complaining about adoption and trying to make a hustle off the internet. Cate and Ty are kinda screwed.

  7. Cate and Tyler will do anything — and I do mean anything — to keep from having to actually work for a living. Same with Taylor & Maci. They’re going to be in for an awful rude awakening when they realize in a few years that their celebrity status is gone and so are their podcast listeners. C&T are going to end up in a rundown single wide in a neglected trailer park somewhere. Taylor might get a job, but Maci will sit home sucking down Bud Lights and whining about her awful life; that is, IF her and Taylor stay together. B&T and T&M will be fighting foreclosure tooth and nail and relentlessly calling MTV and begging for them to resurrect the show.

    1. and the people saying catelynn & tyler and maci & taylor have “real jobs” are delusional af because let’s get real how much money are m&t really making from selling the same t-shirt and it’s only the other cast members wearing it? and c&t have never finished through with a project ever and nobody’s that interested in listening to an anti adoption podcast of them talking over one another and i can see the only reason they haven’t stopped is because they have a contract with kail’s network that they actually have to fulfill

  8. I thought this show was already dead and buried. Hopefully it will be. I don’t want the cast to make another million.

  9. Going on Feet Finder? Rilly, Cate? That desperate to not work a real job? Because OF might have pushed the boundaries with Carly, but not Feet Finder? And why did they only care about what Carly and her parents may or may not think and not worry about the opinions of the non-Carly’s? The oldest probably already has some awareness to these matters and eventually they’ll all find out because the internet.

If Carly hears about Feet Finder, she’ll once again be reminded that Brandon and Theresa are waaay less embarrassing than her bio parents. I’d prefer my father in Dockers and white New Balance dad sneakers then in a Batman costume showing his junk 🤮
