Amanda Conner Reveals She & Husband Ryan Edwards are Currently “Low on Money” After Months of Not Filming for ‘Teen Mom’ (Updated)

“Stuff’s expensive…and stuff…especially when MTV’s not payin’ you to be drugged-out on TV.”

It’s been nearly a year since the cast of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter has filmed for the show, and the lack of MTV income is starting to be felt by some of the cast members.

Over the weekend, Amanda Conner— who is the wife of Ryan Edwards— revealed to her TikTok followers that things are tight financially in the Edwards household these days. In a video posted to TikTok, Amanda took viewers along as she “shopped on a budget” at Walmart, and stated she didn’t currently have the money to purchase things like deli meats and fresh produce. In the post’s comment section, Amanda told those who were critical of her food selections that she and Ryan “are kind of low on money so we’re just doing what we can at the moment.”

“I wish I got stamps!” Amanda wrote to another person who mentioned food stamps being a necessity.

The (possible?) cancellation of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ appears to have hit hard for Ryan who, in July, asked the judge in his child custody case to lower the amount of child support he pays Baby Mama No. 2, Mackenzie Standifer, because his income is now drastically lower than it was when he was appearing on the show.

“Bein’ a washed-up reality star ain’t all it’s cracked up to be…and stuff.”

Ryan– who shares son Jagger and daughter Stella with Mackenzie– noted in court docs filed in February 2025 (while he was still appearing on ‘Next Chapter’) that he was making a monthly income of over $16,000, which included his ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ earnings, as well as the income he earned at his “regular” job as a mechanic. Over the summer, Ryan asked the judge to drastically reduce his child support amount, due to the fact that he is “no longer earning income through that series, through no fault of his own.”

Ryan, like most of the other long-time ‘Teen Mom’ dads— was reportedly earning a $35,000 paycheck for each episode of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ that he appeared in. In the latest court documents filed in July; however, Ryan claimed he is now only earning income through his “regular” job, where he allegedly makes $4,282 a month. Amanda also works full-time at a rehab facility.

“Did you know that at regular jobs you can’t just call in ‘tired’ like I did with MTV?!”

As The Ashley previously reported, Ryan still owes thousands in court fees stemming from his wild run-ins with the law in 2023. According to court records pulled by The Ashley, he is on the hook for $7,078 in court fees for his harassment case, as well as $1,151 for his 2023 DUI case.

“Don’t be tryin’ to pawn off those Great Value brand dog treats on me, either! I’m a premium pooch. Also…woof.”

Since Season 2B ended in May, the cast has not been filming and has not been informed if the show will be getting a third season. (Various cast members have stated that the show is over, but as of press time, The Ashley has not received confirmation from any of her production sources that the show has been officially cancelled, just FYI.)

Last month, Catelynn Lowell revealed that MTV still has some time to make a decision regarding the future of ‘Next Chapter.’

“They don’t have to give any of us ‘Teen Mom’ people an answer until, like, May,” Catelynn said. “May-something is when our contracts are coming up [for renewal].”

Raise your hand if you’re anxiously awaiting that phone call…

(The cast contracts generally extend for one calendar year after the last episode aired. The last episode of the show aired on May 22, 2025, so that date in 2026 would be the date the cast’s existing contracts would be up.)

“[The network] is obligated to give us an answer by that time, basically,” Catelynn said, adding that the cast would have to be informed if the show was, indeed, cancelled officially. “But we haven’t heard anything. We haven’t heard anything bad [about it being cancelled].”

UPDATE! On Tuesday, Amanda came back to TikTok to clarify that she and Ryan aren’t “broke.” In a comment left on Rei Clark‘s TikTok about The Ashley’s story, Amanda chimed in to say, “We are not so much struggling, just budgeting just watching how we spend our money is all. But we are blessed to have what we have so I just don’t take those things for granted.”

Amanda also reitierated that she and Ryan are working “real jobs.”

“I had a job before MTV, I had a job during MTV and I have a job after MTV,” she said in a new video. “Look at it like this: MTV was just the icing on the cake, not the whole damn cake. My bills? They’re paid. My kids, very well taken care of. My life? Handled. I’m just not out here blowing money on dumb s**t.”

Soooo…can we go ahead and assume Amanda’s not picking up one of these babies?

“That’s called being smart, not broke. Just because I budget, that doesn’t mean I’m broke,” she added. “…I’m just a regular mom out here in Tennessee. I’m not a f**king Kardashian.

  1. They got used to that teen mom money and are living above their means. How much do you want to bet they’ll be on OF here shortly.

  2. I’m lost- How can they both have actual jobs- decent jobs- a TWO income family, and struggle as they say they are?
I make decent money (75-80K a year) and I’m a single mom of three, live in California where everything is expensive and I’m able to buy food and such, rent, gas money, etc and I still have a little left at the end of the month… So yeah, very confusing how they have nothing. Also to echo a few of you commenting- how did they make good money from Teen Mom and not save/invest any of it?! That is called being stupid and frivolous with spending…

    1. Seriously? Why are you being so judgemental? So families who have more than one income can’t struggle? Because that is what your saying which is beyond messed up. Anyone can be struggling, no matter their income, you do not know what goes on in their lives. Especially right now where the cost of living is going up and continues to do so. However, we do know, at least Ryan, how much he makes and that he currently has debt along with past court fees that he still owes. The Ashley has an article about this. Assuming they didn’t save any of the TM money is extremely judgemental and wrong. Amanda said their not broke but are budgeting and being careful with how they spend their money; what’s wrong with that? NOTHING! It’s actually pretty smart, if you ask me. A lot of families are doing this right now, including mine.

Good for you to live in one of the most expensive states and have your head above the water, I really do mean that, that’s awesome.

    2. Ryan does pay child support for 3 kids. I dont know how much hes paying to Mackenzie and Maci.

They do also have 2 kids in their home: Amanda’s son and their newborn. I think their baby is still young enough that theyre buying formula and diapers.

I do agree that they should have their home and debts paid off and additional money saved from the show. They made A LOT of money.

  3. How are you “low on money” when both of them work full time outside of MTV? If both of them are working full time then they should have had a nice cushion to fall back on considering that would be 4 incomes in that house. They live beyond their means that’s why their low on money.

  4. This whole entire post made me laugh. It’s not exactly shopping on a budget and I don’t really see where Amanda said she was broke, etc. It’s a video to maintain engagement and views of someone buying things that no person who was broke would buy. She isn’t going crazy but she isn’t exactly skimping – cage free eggs and expensive frozen items that are much cheaper made from different ingredients or even purchasing fresh. Most of the items are brand names as well.

End of day, I didn’t really see this as a “woe is me, I’m broke, video.” More as just a video posted for engagement and maybe someone who skipped a few “fun” items she may have previously purchased to cut down on the extras that aren’t needed.

  5. rhine looks like a total fug bug in that top pic, and i love that for him. 🤗😹
also, as so many others have said ~ how did these two moronic trash bags 🗑️ not save ANY of the TM money?!?
    *cough* drugs *cough* ❄️💊🚬💨

    1. Amanda has been working at the same rehab for more than 1 year. Her and Ryan are doing well on their substance abuse journeys.

  6. Them not having large savings/investments and a paid off home is their own poor planning. He was making $16,000 a month, plus her income. Ryan’s money alone was about $192,000 per year. I cannot even imagine having that type of money coming in. I’d pay off all debts as soon as I could, make extra payments towards our mortgage principal, and do some safe investments each month. The fact that almost none of the people prepare for the gravy train derailing stresses me out so much.

Also, she sucks at shopping if she thinks that’s budget shopping. So much name-brand stuff. When you’re poor and trying to feed a bunch of mouths, beans, rice, potatoes, flour, and cornmeal are your best friends.

  7. The things she’s putting in her cart “on a budget” make no sense…

Luckily I’ve never encountered someone with an infant filming themselves at the grocery store. I’d die of second hand embarrassment.

    1. She didn’t buy not one ounce of food.
      It’s clear she doesn’t cook.
There’s not one entire meal in that cart, just microwavable snacks.

      1. This is why its so “expensive” for her. She needs to go figure out how recipes work and cook homemade meals. They really can go a long way.

        1. Everything she bought could be made from scratch but I imagine it’s food her child can make himself while she’s off getting high.

    2. Considering that is part of her income … maybe that is now how she feeds her infant . She makes money off social media so atleast she tried to monetize her short time on the show.

  8. Amanda really thought she was going to cash in on Teen Mom, but hopped on the train wayyyy too late and with one of the biggest losers of the franchise (which is saying a lot). Ryan could have saved so much money given how much he made per episode, but blew through most of it on drugs. Are we supposed to feel bad that these two are feeling a self-inflicted money crunch when millions of people in this country are in a tight spot despite working hard and saving?

    1. Yeah, I don’t feel bad for them either. Instead of saving up, they just used everything up. (I heard this happens to lotto millionaires a lot too…they get a flush of cash and just spend it all, how irresponsible!)

      1. If she didnt buy certain things from the freezer she would have been able to buy fresh produce and deli meat. I spend about $300 a month on food and im able to get deli meats and produce. And I never achieve getting my cart as full as she did. Its how you shop. I feel like she wants bigger and better things so thats why she thinks shes broke. she goes on tik tok lives here and there and gets tons of likes and gifts. I dont think shes that broke tbh. She and Ryan needs to budget better. If I got $16,000 a MONTH. Half of that would go into savings for situations like this. They should of thought twice about thinking she could rely on TM money. Nothing is ever consistent so if you get a crap ton of money, always invest it someway so when things fall thru, you actually have income to rely on.. I dont feel sorry for her. Everyone on an income is struggling. She is not.

    2. They’ll be fine, she’s just dramatic as hell. He obviously makes too much to qualify for stamps as she desires and his parents are rich and Rhines mommy definitely ain’t gonna let baby boy starve. No money for deli meats? Nah she’s just lazy and buys trashy overprocessed shit (we all do in this economy but some of us aren’t making pity grocery shopping TikToks about it) Amanda imagine allllll the money you’d have if Rhine didn’t spend it all on fent!

      1. If she put the frozen pizza away, she would have deli meat money. But, she apparently can’t save money or cook.

  9. Didn’t they put away any money?

Also I don’t know how expensive things are in America, but should they not be ok with two full time jobs?

  10. I, for one, am happy that Amanda missed the gravy train. She got a little taste of it and thought she had hit the lottery. I’m sure mimi has some big account set up somewhere for her baby Ryan. He’ll be ok.

  11. It just amazes me that these Teen Mom parents have ZERO money sense. None of them seem to have put any of their money into a savings account for situations like this, where the show might end. None of them want to do the hard part, which means get a job! Or, get a second job!!
These are the EXACT kind of people who think they deserve to be on food stamps because “we have kids!”
These are the EXACT kind of people who should always be DENIED food stamps!! They are ALL capable of working and should never collect ANY assistance. They made a shit-load of money while they did the show, and should’ve done a better job with it. They shouldn’t be reworded for their stupidity with money, by allowing them any assistance. It amazes me that Ryans wife said she wishes she was on it!! Total trash!

    1. I think Gary has been good with his earnings. So many of the others owes on back taxes and everything else. They need to find a 2nd job to make ends meet. I had to get a 2nd job many years ago because I was on my own and refused to ask for any assistance. I was determined to make it and I did. It’s not fun but kept me from going under. I am sure Ryan’s parents would babysit the kids while they work.

    2. Jenelle Evans has also said she wishes she had EBT too. I believe she said it wasn’t fair she didn’t get any on TM money.

  12. Guarantee they have been spending it on drugs. Also, Ryan is making $4300/month, and Amanda is making at least $2000. $6300 is more than enough to live off of in Tennessee…

    1. Have you been living in the US lately? My husband and I make over $200k a year, we live in freaking Ohio. We are also seriously feeling the pinch.

      1. Then you seriously need to budget better. I live in KY & my husband & I make about the same as you & are fine. Granted I have always tried to shop frugally as I grew up very poor, but I can still buy lunch meat & fresh fruit.

      2. I, a single woman also in Ohio, am making about $50k a year. While I do “feel the pinch,” it’s pretty minor and I know that overall I have nothing to worry about as long as I budget properly. This includes owning a home where I pay all expenses myself. I’d highly recommend that you and your husband look into a financial adviser.

      3. Prob need a little better budgeting, my husband owns his own business and pays himself 60k, I work part time and make 32k (live in texas) we have 4 kids and live very comfortable. Nice older home on 4 acres, only one car payment, and its almost paid off, and we still take a vacation every year and my son races motocross, iykyk, not a cheap sport.

      4. Oh please 🙄. I live in Seattle, AKA one of the highest cost of living cities in the country, and I know plenty of people who own homes and live comfortably enough on a $200K salary. You and your husband need financial counseling just as much as the Teen Moms lol

        1. “uR a TrOlL. UR WeiRuD” head ass

Yes. Yes I’m Mack. You got me. I’ve been caught.
          That would make you Amanda.
          See how that works?

And if you’re Amanda, you’re definitely still getting high. You can see it a mile away.

Maybe get offline, learn to cook and make sure your junkie husband isn’t shitting up your walls and destroying your house!!

          1. Lol what does “shitting up the walls” mean?😂 Do you know Amanda personally (no you dont). But you’re sooo sure she’s still on drugs. Stop slandering someone in recovery. Whether she’s clean or not has no emphasis on your life

          2. @krista ~ not to speak for @myname, but they were prob referring to rhine trashing his and mack’s house. can’t recall particulars (it was covered here on theashley; you can do a search), but pretty sure there was sh*t 💩 on the walls among the utter mayhem.
also, slander is spoken and libel is written. and you prob meant ‘impact’, not ’emphasis’.
thanks for attending my TED talk. 🤣🤗

  13. At least she’s honest about it. Cate & Ty have never had a job. Have no skills or experience to fall back on.
Won’t be long before they are applying for stamps.

  14. $35,000 is more than a lot of people make in a year and he was making that per episode and is already broke?? Wow, that’s crazy.

Someone needs to show Amanda how to actually shop on a budget because her choices are not good. It’s much cheaper to buy a loaf of bread, peanut butter and jelly than it is to buy uncrustables. Nearly everything in that cart was name brand stuff.

  15. Oh no so they have bills and debts?!??!? Shopping on a budget?!?!?!

That’s literally all of us out here!

  16. The show has made these people codependent on MTV, most will not be able to support themselves in a 9 to 5 world, it’s very sad what has become of most of them

  17. Good, I’m glad. Ryan blew his money on drugs for years and had kids here and there without a second thought. Time to man up and get a second job, Rhyne

  18. I just cannot feel bad for any of the ex teen mom cast. They made so much money off this show. If any of them ran out of money as soon as it stopped paying then they have nobody to blame but themselves. They should be set for LIFE. Theres no way they actually thought they’d retire as paid employees of MTV teen mom. 🙄 I mean come on!
