Parents of Controversial ‘Unexpected’ Season 7 Star Bella Vaughn Claim “Trolls” Are Making Their Family “Stars of the Show”: “It’s Freaking Awesome”

“Move over, Kardashians– there’s a NEW reality TV family in town!”

Kris and Falen Vaughn, the parents of controversial Unexpected star Bella, hopped online this week to respond to the ongoing criticism surrounding their family, insisting that the “trolls” are only making them the “stars” of Season 7, which has yet to even premiere on TLC.

As The Ashley previously told you, the upcoming season will follow 15-year-old Bella and her 13-year-old baby daddy Hunter of Arkansas, who welcomed their son Wesley in March 2025. (Bella is just one of the teens who will be sharing their pregnancy story in Season 7.) While Bella and Hunter’s ages left a lot of fans of the show shocked after seeing the Season 7 trailer, the criticism surrounding the young couple– and their families– only grew after Bella revealed on social media that she was 14 when her son was conceived and Hunter was just 12.

Viewers have also questioned Kris and Falen’s parenting due to the fact that Bella’s sister, Emi, is also a teen parent, having welcomed a baby girl named Elleigh less than two months after Bella gave birth to Wesley.

Despite the backlash that the Vaughns have received in recent weeks, Bella’s parents continue to double down on their decision to allow their daughter’s pregnancy to be documented on TV, with Kris and Falen even firing back on Sunday after comments on their TikTok Live “got a little wild,” according to Us Weekly.

“[I] just wanted to come on here and make a quick video,” Kris said in the video, while sitting alongside his wife, Falen. “Our Live tonight got a little wild there at the end. That’s not how we really want to handle things, but due to all the trolls and the women quickly being known as what I have to say on TV as the unscrewables, they are going to make Season 7 hot. It’s going to be a hot season.”

Kris went on to claim that the people online who are hating on him and his family are only making the Vaughns more popular.

“All they’re doing is making us the stars of the show and I got to tell y’all, my royalty check is going to be so fat,” he said. “We’re going to be able to buy a lot of groceries, so thank you all. It’s freaking awesome and you all have a great night.”

Before signing off, Kris took an opportunity to remind viewers that Season 7 of ‘Unexpected’ premieres in a few weeks, before telling people to not “believe everything you see on social media.”

While Falen allowed Kris to address viewers in their latest video, she’s been leaning into her upcoming role of ‘Unexpected’ grandma for weeks, having added the show to her various social media bios and making a formal announcement to followers this month that her family would be joining the show for Season 7. In her “big announcement” video, Falen promised fans that her family will host “watch parties during the show” where fans can see their reactions to the episodes in real time, as well as a “debrief after the show” on Live.

Just last week, Bella defended her parents online amid fans questioning why Falen, in particular, appears to be building a platform off of her daughters’ teen pregnancies and their upcoming appearance on ‘Unexpected,’ insisting that Falen already had a presence on social media before her daughter was expecting a baby.

“My mom did not build her platform off of me being pregnant,” Bella said. “She had a TikTok before that. I was six months pregnant when we started posting. And I only did it because I had people messaging me on TikTok saying, ‘I’m in the same situation as you, I don’t know what to do. I really need some help. Can you post your story? It’s really similar to mine and I don’t know what to do.’”

“I mean, applying to be on a reality TV show about teen pregnancy is always an option…”

Bella also insisted that her parents weren’t to blame for her getting pregnant as a teen, claiming that they “have done everything” for her and continue to support her “in every single way” now that she has a child of her own.

“It’s not a parenting issue when a teen gets pregnant always,” she said.

Bella went on to tell critics that the online drama surrounding herself and her family isn’t worth her energy, as she has “a baby to raise, love to give and a life to live.”

Season 7 of ‘Unexpected’ premieres Monday, February 16, on TLC.

  1. Color me shocked that parents of two teen moms are also incredibly immature. I hope someone starts a petition to get her story removed. This is too much given their ages and the way the whole family is acting, even for reality TV. Her mom reminds me a whole lot of Mama June.

  2. Just a bunch of trash POS deadbeats that couldn’t even teach birth control to their daughters and are seeking fame from that failure

  3. Imagine having a wife with a face like that & the audacity of calling other people trolls. The only troll I spot is Falen. Kris is one of those toe-headed mfs who gets mad and spews hate against people calling him out with the truth. Typical.

    1. @kails ~ i was actually going to (genuinely) ask if the wife was…um, medically well. or if she just looked like…that. 😂
time for her to hop off live and head to her post at the bridge guard station. 👹👺

  4. So basically this family are fame whores. How can you love getting all of this attention knowing FULL WELL that your son-in-law was only 12 when he got his girlfriend pregnant…

    1. Honestly what’s more concerning to me is the fact that he was 12 and his baby mama said that he was already sexually experienced before they got together.. like what’s the deal with HIS parents. 14-15 year olds being sexually experienced is still really young but it’s not unheard of. 11-12 year olds being sexually experienced is a gigantic red flag. They’re in middle school still.
