Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra took a break from co-hosting their Cate & Ty Break It Down podcast recently to allow Catelynn an opportunity to sit down with the couple’s 11-year-old daughter Nova for a one-on-one about Teen Mom, and (unsurprisingly) her biological sister Carly’s adoption, and how it has affected her.
As fans of ‘Teen Mom’ know, in addition to Nova, Catelynn and Tyler share seven-year-old daughter Vaeda and four-year-old daughter Rya. The couple’s eldest daughter, 16-year-old Carly, was placed for adoption at birth and has been raised by Brandon and Teresa Davis. Currently, Catelynn and Tyler have no contact with Carly since 2024, when Carly’s parents cut them off.
During last week’s podcast episode, Catelynn asked Nova to share with listeners her experience as someone who is a biological sister to an adoptee. While Nova said that meeting and spending time with Carly has been “one of the best things that’s ever happened,” she also admitted that the experience has been a “full crazy ride.”
“ … I’ve never been able to look up to somebody before,” Nova explained. “It’s the best feeling ever to have.”
Nova credited her past interactions with Carly for helping her become more “sensitive” to younger sisters Vaeda and Rya, as she recalls the feeling she had when she would spend time around Carly.
“ … it really made me just look up to somebody and it just gave me a lot of happiness,” Nova said.
While Catelynn and Tyler have long been accused of fixating on the fact that they placed a child for adoption years ago, there have also been instances when ‘Teen Mom’ fans have called out the couple for seemingly encouraging Nova to join in on these conversations. During last week’s podcast episode, Cate made an effort to quash the accusations by asking Nova if Carly is a constant topic of conversation in the Baltierra home, or if Catelynn and Tyler have ever forced her to partake in discussions about her bio sister.
“That is not true,” Nova replied to Cate. “That is not accurate at all.”
“So is that all we talk about, 24-7?” Cate continued, to which Nova responded, “No. You talk about … a lot of stuff. I barely even hear you talk about Carly.”

While Nova insisted that her parents do not force her to talk about Carly, she said she will discuss her bio sister with her mom or dad whenever she wants to.
“If I feel the need to bring it up to you, I will bring it up to you,” Nova said. “I don’t feel the need to always bring it up to you. Like, I don’t feel forced to do it. I’ll do it at my own need.”
Nova also revealed on her parents’ podcast that having a sister that has been placed for adoption can be “a little bit” hard, as she often wishes that Carly “would be in [their] family.”
She also shared that she has one wish regarding her future relationship with her bio sister.
“I do have one wish, by that, I’m like, I wish I could see [Carly] more … ,” Nova shared. “Like that, just that would make me really happy.

“ … I miss her sometimes,” she continued. “Especially when we’re on family trips, you know? I always thought, like, what would it be like if Carly was here?”

I hope Carly has nothing to do with these muskrats in the future
Please. Do they think we can’t see through this crap?
Wow cait and ty, just wow, that to me sounded coached and practiced, maybe get your 11 year old minor off these rediculas pod casts, and let her have a stress free childhood, what utter morons you are.
Poor nova.
unbelievable.
(except believable b/c these two thirsty AF 🥤 clowns 🤡👯♀️ are involved)
This poor kid will need decades of therapy because of her POS parents
Just when you think they couldn’t sink any lower.
Manipulating a child to do your begging is so sick.
This is just disgusting. Nova is only 11 and hasn’t seen Carly in 3-4 years. She has been coached to think she looks up to Carly and misses her when the truth is that she doesn’t even know Carly. She only ever saw her a handful of times for a few hours. And half of those visits she can’t even remember because she was so young.
And, I do actually believe Nova when she says that they barely talk about Carly at home. Because, that was a performance for the cameras, podcasts, and reels. Forcing Nova to talk about Carly, celebrate her birthdays, and bringing her into adult conversations was all driven by $$$ and a strong desire to never get a real job. It had nothing to do with actually caring.
🎯
This just seems like a manipulative tactic to get access to Carly again. “How can B&T say no to a child? What monsters they are for not letting a child talk to her biological sister”
Honestly, at 11 years old, she knows what she’s supposed to say to get the outcome she wants. Plus she’s absolutely been coached by her parents to be like “we never talk about Carly that’s preposterous!”. It’s very performative from Catelynn and it’s sad they’re now involving their other children in their manipulation tactics.
