The OG cast of Laguna Beach is ready to reunite in person for the first time in 20 years to “Come Clean” about their experience on the MTV series, which debuted in 2004.
This week, the Roku Channel released the official trailer for The Reunion: Laguna Beach, with the clip appropriately kicking off with former adversaries Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari sitting side by side on the beach.
“We have never had a conversation on camera, just the two of us, are you ready?” Kristin asks Lauren who replies with, “No.”
While the alleged love triangle involving Lauren, Kristin and Stephen Colletti will presumably be discussed in detail during ‘The Reunion,’ it’s the feud between Lauren and Kristin that resurfaces in the trailer.
“They said, ‘Who do you think is going to be prom queen?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know and I don’t care, as long as it’s not Lauren Conrad,’” Kristin admits in the trailer, to which Lauren adds, “We did not like each other.”
Along with Kristin, Lauren and Stephen, ‘The Reunion: Laguna Beach’ will bring together OGs Trey Phillips, Dieter Schmitz, Talan Torriero, Lo Bosworth, Morgan Smith, Christina Shuller, Alex Hooser and Jessica Smith. (Lo– who was pregnant when the special was filmed– and Morgan will join their former co-stars virtually.)
“In 2004, eight friends from Laguna Beach, California, were approached to follow their senior year of high school, but the people who lived it never really talked about what happened until now,” fans are told in the trailer for ‘The Reunion,’ as the friends and former castmates proceed to reminisce on high school memories and the unique experience of having some of those moments air on TV.
It appears that the then-high schoolers’ 2004 trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, will also be addressed on ‘The Reunion’– including the moment that Stephen infamously called his on-again, off-again girlfriend Kristin a slut for dancing on a bar and giving another guy her attention.
“It’s one of the worst moments that happened when I was a kid,” Stephen says, when asked about the incident on-stage.
(As you may remember, Stephen and Kristin previously addressed the moment on their Back to Beach with Kristin and Stephen podcast in 2022, with Stephen describing his behavior in Cabo that night as his “worst” and insisting that he was raised to treat women with respect.)
Other cast members recall their own painful memories, including Jessica, who admits to the group that she had “horrible anxiety” about returning for ‘The Reunion,’ and Alex, who remembers a time during high school when her “whole family life was kind of just falling apart” and she had “literally lost [her] mind.”
“For all of us, it was hard to revisit for different reasons,” Kristin says. “It just feels like the right time now.”
As The Ashley told you last month, fans can expect to hear plenty of behind-the-scenes stories from ‘Laguna Beach’ during ‘The Reunion,’ as well as cast reactions to memorable episodes. In the trailer, the OGs are also shown returning to notable Laguna Beach filming locations.
The two-hour special will be hosted by actress/comedian Casey Wilson, with Lauren, Kristin and Stephen listed as executive producers on the project.
