This week’s episode of Unexpected caused a lot of controversy for Bella Vaughn and her parents Kris and Falen, due to a scene in which Bella’s parents allowed her to shower with her (then) 13-year-old baby daddy Hunter Johnson days after she gave birth to their son Wes. Viewers expressed their shock— and disgust— over the scene, prompting Bella and Falen to take to TikTok on Thursday to defend themselves.
Falen also doubled down on her decision to let 15-year-old Bella shower with her boyfriend, telling fans that her daughter had already had sex and a baby, so she didn’t have a problem with Hunter helping Bella in the shower when she was postpartum.
“We’re going to do a little debriefing about the episode that aired on Monday, since we have been getting a lot of hate for that, so let’s just see if we can make them even madder!” Falen said of ‘Unexpected’ fans who have been slamming her and Bella’s dad Kris on social media.
After Falen made it clear that she’s “not in love with Hunter” (as some fans on social media have suggested), Bella explained that she plans to make a TikTok video giving her and Hunter’s “side” of the controversy, adding that viewers “are gonna hate that, but it’s gonna make us a lot of money, so I’m excited about that!”

Bella defended her parents for letting her shower with Hunter.
“The shower scene, y’all hated but I was 15 years old, freshly postpartum, out of the hospital and had my stomach cut open [from a C-section],” Bella— who is now 16— said. “I had just got my staples removed literally hours prior to that. So, yeah, Hunter helped me out because I just had his baby. He should be there, helping me when he’s the one that made the baby with me.”
Bella also denied that it would have been more appropriate to have her mother help her in the shower postpartum than her 13-year-old boyfriend.
“I don’t care if you say it was my mom’s job [to help me shower] because I’m still a kid. I don’t care,” she said. “Hunter has literally seen me through everything. He helped me make that baby so it wouldn’t make sense for him not to help me after I had the baby. No. You would complain about that if he didn’t!”

Falen also agreed that Hunter was the right person for the job, arguing that since the kids had already had sex and had a baby, it wasn’t a big deal for him to be in the shower with Bella.
“They’ve already done the deed!” Falen insisted. “They’ve already got pregnant, had a baby, so I don’t know what the issue is. I’m going to let them be there for each other, no matter the situation… My daughter needed help in the shower so, guess what? Hunter was there to help her.”
Bella and Falen explained that Bella experienced some health issues after giving birth, including fainting and having her C-section incision open up.
“Hunter stepped in and was there for her the entire time,” Falen said. “Bella was very shaky and all kinds of stuff after having the baby…she had a major issue with passing out so we were not letting her be in the bathroom by herself.”
During the video, Falen and Bella also addressed fan speculation that Falen has a… unique relationship with Hunter.
“I treat him just like I treat my kids,” Falen said. “I call him out when he needs to be called out. I take care of him just like I take care of my kids. That’s what you do when someone else becomes part of your family, you take care of them…
“We have done a lot for him over the last two years and I’m not going to go into detail because it’s no one’s business but I will tell you he has been through a lot,” she continued. “Hunter has been through a lot, a lot of trauma. And is it getting any better? No, it’s not, because his family’s not making it any better.”
“My parents treat him better sometimes than parts of his family treat him,” Bella said.
(Bella and Falen are obviously referring to Hunter’s father, Casey Johnson, who— as The Ashley told you last month— is currently in a custody battle with Hunter’s mom for custody of Hunter. He has already put a stop legally to Hunter being allowed to spend the night at Bella’s house.)
At the end of the video, Bella and Falen insisted that the shower scene was blown out of proportion.
“I really don’t care what you say because it wasn’t as big of a deal as you’re making it,” said Bella.

The fact they think this is going to make them rich, smdh. If I learned anything from TLC and the “families” they cover… only the surface has been scratched on this family and more disturbing things are to come or will be uncovered.

Call me a weirdo for this, but I can understand what they mean. I dont want my mom to see me in any state of undress. When I had my first (at 17), the only person in the room was my boyfriend because I didnt want my mom to see me down there. When I had my second at 23, she wasn’t supposed to be in there either but it happened to fast to leave. When I had my hysterectomy at 26, I was told id need help showering for the first week or so. I lived with my mom at that time. I still refused her help and managed on my own because I again didnt want my mom to see me like that. Idk if its a trauma thing or what, but thats just how I am. The only people I’ve ever been comfortable with seeing me in any state of undress or vulnerability is my boyfriends. Its not like they were about to have sex again. That I could understand if it was a genuine fear. But she had a c section, just had her staples removed that very day, an incision that had reopened (that sounds absolutely terrifying), and fainting issues. Someone needed to be with her. Why force her to be more uncomfortable than she already is? I also have a child with health complications. Since he was little he has always wanted privacy. Unfortunately after he had a bunch of surgeries at the age of 9 and had a picc line, he couldnt bathe himself. Do you know how hard it was to bathe him with my eyes closed? Just so I could make sure he felt comfortable. Hes 17 now, still have yearly procedures where I have to help him change and he hasn’t budged on wanting complete privacy, even in those moments when its extremely difficult to give them to him. But he doesn’t have anyone else he can trust so our compromise is keeping my eyes closed. Is it unfortunate that these two had a kid so young? Oh absolutely, there’s no denying that whatsoever. They had no business being able to even have the ability to have sex at their ages. But her taking a shower wasn’t a moment for them to have sex. It was to make sure she was clean, didnt injure herself, while remaining to feel comfortable and have some dignity.
So much of this is that he was 13. Having a 13-year-old boy be the person troubleshooting a reopening surgical wound sounds like a less-than-ideal pick.
First let me say I don’t think you are weird for your own personal feelings bout your own life or experiences. However, you shouldn’t assume they apply to anyone but you. Now, to the rest of my reply.
1-They are CHILDREN and we should ll be concerned about their continued activities regardless as to whether or not they’ve already done them. Sex should never be encouraged or accommodated when it involves literal children.
2-They already admitted they have had sex in the shower and regularly do so, even immediately postpartum ,(and also, I feel gross typing that, but it’s true). There are serious health concerns involved there, regardless of age. Also, he’s much, much, much smaller than her and if she faints, he can’t help her.
3-She has said she does not have the hangups you do with her mom, and others, see her naked or take care of her. Her mom did plenty of that as well.
4-Her mom encourages them to have sex, and has no qualms if it leads to another child. She has said this, repeatedly. She thinks once the deed is done, that’s it, might as well go hog wild.
5- These people are just fucked up, full stop. They should be investigated and have all children removed/never be allowed around children ever again. Their attitude about sex and minors speaks volumes of grooming ms god only knows what other heinous shit.

These idiots shouldn’t have been in a show called Unexpected because with this behavior and parenting, this shit should have been expected. They don’t appear or sound like they received good genetics and sense though.
It feels like… the context for the shower scene wasn’t to help Bella.
If that were made clear in the moment I’d have felt better about it.
The Ashely, love this website, but could you consider not covering this storyline? This is a child who is being put in very disturbing situations by an older teenager, her parents, and his mom (and being exploited). And, his dad has made it clear that he does not approve of any of this.
I think many of us have expressed that this is disturbing given how young Hunter was when this started and still is. This isn’t entertaining at all. The amount of coverage about the “sex life” of a child is icky.

like Hunters dad is the only one who is parenting this child. I think that TLC needs to take some accountability for this as well.

I hate that we live in a society where people like this have a platform. Surely, we must be near the end of times.
