‘Welcome to Plathville’ Preview: Isaac Plath Reveals Why He Unexpectedly Broke Up with Girlfriend Kaylynn: “It’s Killing Me Inside”

“Good luck finding another woman who will put up with you and your family’s nonsense, Isaac!”

On Tuesday’s episode of Welcome to Plathville, Isaac Plath confirms to viewers that he called it quits with his girlfriend Kaylynn, only to later admit that the decision he made to end their relationship is “killing [him] inside.”

In TLC’s preview of this week’s episode, Isaac takes a break from getting his peanut farming on to breakdown his breakup, noting that he was the one who initiated the split. The 20-year-old goes on to explain that he ultimately felt as though his and Kaylynn’s relationship was “moving too fast,” as he feared that his 22-year-old girlfriend would end up pressuring him to tie the knot before he was ready to do so.

Isaac Plath: Known wedding ruiner hater.

“Just certain thoughts built up to where I felt like I was under too much pressure and I wanted to just be free,” Isaac says in the clip. “I know [Kaylynn] is a little bit older than me, so she may want to settle down a little sooner than I would have in mind.”

Isaac also blames his out-of-nowhere breakup with Kaylynn on “everything [his] family’s been through”– a comment presumably referring to his parents, Kim and Barry Plath, calling it quits in 2022, as well as some of his siblings’ failed partnerships.

“It scared me,” Isaac tells viewers.

“We Plaths are known for two things: fair hair and failed relationships!”

Producers go on to ask Isaac if Kaylynn said something in particular that that made him want to end their relationship, though Isaac insists he’s not the type to “breakup with someone because they say something.”

“It wasn’t, like, an instant decision,” he continues. “It was just something that I was thinking about, and that’s one thing that was really hard, was seeing her happy and her not knowing anything is going to happen, you know? Knowing what I was about to do to her just still haunts me to this day, honestly.”

The actual face Isaac made while delivering that line…

As for Kaylynn, she seems to agree with Isaac’s reason for the breakup, telling her friend Kim that Isaac was unsure if he was ready to be “completely settled down,” as he “knows that marriage is on the table” for her in the future. However, Kaylynn claims that Isaac is mistaken for believing that marriage is something she wants in the near future.

“It got into his head,” Kaylynn says. “He thought I want to be married in the next, like, year or two and that was not the case.

“After seeing the way that family acted at Lydia’s wedding, I don’t know if I want to get married PERIOD.”

“And then, some of the guys at work kind of got into his head a lot,” she adds. “They were like, ‘Are you sure you want to be settled down? Are you sure you’re ready for that?’”

Kaylynn’s friend offers her take on the situation, telling Kaylynn that between Isaac’s parents divorcing and his brother Micah Plath’s toxic relationship with ex-girlfriend Veronica Peters, Isaac has been “surrounded by relationship failure, after relationship failure.”

“Sounds like I made a lasting impression!”

“ … I think that’s put a real big fear on him,” Kim says. “He’s got to understand you are so far from the type of person Veronica was. Your relationship is not the same as the things that he’s experienced with his family.”

Kaylynn then reveals to (a visibly shocked) Kim that Isaac reached out to her parents days earlier to apologize to them for hurting their daughter.

“He apologized to them, he asked mama and daddy to pray for him and he was like, ‘I’m always going to love your daughter.’” Kaylynn tells her friend. “Mama was like, ‘You could tell he’s confused about some stuff.’”

“Yeah…like how to properly facilitate a breakup, for example.”

In a second clip from Tuesday’s episode, Kaylynn confirms that Isaac ending their relationship came as a surprise and that she “never saw it coming.” Meanwhile, Isaac reveals that the split has been “killing [him] inside,” and claims he’s having second thoughts.

“I’m just praying for a second chance,” Isaac says.

Despite Isaac’s remorse, Kaylynn tells viewers that she still loves Isaac but “has mixed emotions” about the two of them rekindling their relationship.
