Prepare the trusty Duggar birthing tarp (once again)– Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald are expecting baby number seven.
The former ‘Counting On’ couple revealed their baby news during Wednesday’s episode of ‘The Unplanned Podcast,’ where they confirmed that hosts Abby and Matt Howard were the first people outside of the Duggar Family to hear about their growing family.
“We’re actually expecting again,” Jessa said, as reported by E! News. “Yeah, six weeks pregnant with number seven. Surprise!”
As you may know, Jessa and Ben welcomed their first child, son Spurgeon, in 2015. Their second son, Henry, arrived in 2017, followed by daughter Ivy Jane in 2019. Jessa gave birth to her second daughter, Fern, in 2021, followed by son George in 2023 and son Edward in 2025. (Jessa also revealed in 2023 that she suffered a miscarriage in 2022, nearly a year before welcoming baby George.)
As with nearly all of their past pregnancies, Jessa and Ben confirmed this week that their seventh child was planned. Like her parents Michelle and Jim Bob and many of her 18 siblings, Jessa has vowed in the past to leave the number of children she and Ben have “up to God.” This plan has resulted in Jessa birthing a “blessing” roughly every two years since she and Ben married in 2014.
For those wondering if Jessa and Ben plan to keep their procreation pattern going, Jessa said they aren’t ruling out the idea.
“We don’t believe that, like, you have to have a max number [of kids] or whatever,” Jessa explained this week. “We want to be on the same page as a couple. And obviously the most important thing [Ben] cares about is my health.
“ … It’s always me [that wants more kids],” she continued. “I get baby fever way too soon. I’m like, ‘How can I have a newborn and have baby fever?’”
Despite her persistent baby fever, Jessa assured fans in 2025 that she will not be following in her mom’s footsteps by having 19 children of her own. However, she also explained that she and Ben knew going into their marriage that they’d be pumping out a plethora of kids.
“I think we had thrown out the number seven or something,” Jessa claimed. (FYI, that number was actually 15. On an episode of ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ in 2015, Ben revealed that he used to imagine “playing football with [his] 15 sons,” to which Jessa agreed that having 15 sons would be “awesome.”)
Either way, following the birth of Baby Seewald No. 7, Jessa will be tied with oldest brother (and current prisoner) Josh for most fruitful Duggar spawn. As you know, Josh and wife Anna have seven children together, with their youngest arriving just two months before Josh was found guilty of receiving child sex abuse materials (CSAM) in 2021.
