Former ‘Counting On’ Stars Jessa Duggar & Ben Seewald Welcome Fifth Child, Days Before Christmas: See the First Baby Photos

“Ready to get rolling on Seewald No. 6, Ben?”

Another Seewald spawn has arrived.

Former Counting On couple Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald announced on social media over the weekend that they have welcomed their fifth child, a son, on December 19.

“Best Christmas present ever!” Jessa shared Monday on Instagram. “George Augustine Seewald 12.19.23 9lbs 14oz 21in.”

At a whopping 9 lbs., 14 oz., George is Jessa’s biggest baby to date. Her oldest, Spurgeon, previously held the title of heftiest Seewald kid, weighing in at 9 lbs. 11 oz. at birth.

Jessa posted the first photos of George to social media on Christmas, just days after sharing Part 1 and 2 of baby Seewald No. 5’s “birth story” to her YouTube channel.

In Jessa’s video, fans of the former TLC star got to see the moment that George was introduced to his four older siblings– brothers Spurgeon (9) and Henry (6), and sisters Ivy (4) and Fern (2).

We’d personally LOVE to hear Spurgeon’s suggestions…

Fans also got a quick glimpse of Jessa’s sister Jana Duggar–- the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar-– who was seen visiting her new nephew shortly after his birth. Michelle was also there to welcome her 32nd grandkid.

Jana, counting down the minutes until someone needs her to change a diaper, entertain a gaggle of toddlers or whip up a tater-tot casserole. (Probably.)

George’s birth comes just one year after Jessa revealed on YouTube that she had suffered a miscarriage. While discussing the miscarriage in a recent YouTube video, Jessa shared with fans that she found out she had miscarried on December 22 of last year and that her due date for her new baby happened to be December 22, 2023.

“ … God has sent a baby on the same day,” Jessa stated in the video.

Jessa and Ben have not yet explained why they chose the name “George Augustine” for their son; however, both of their other sons were given the names of prominent Christian leaders, so it’s likely that George Augustine’s name was a nod to other Christian leaders.

(Their oldest son, Spurgeon Elliott, was named after 19th century preacher Charles Spurgeon and South American missionary Jim Elliot. Their second son Henry was given the middle name Wilberforce, after politician/philanthropist William Wilberforce.)

That face you make when you realize your brothers get to be George and Henry and you’re stuck with Spurgeon.

Jessa chose to give birth in a hospital this time around, most likely as a safety precaution,  due to her hemorrhaging after her first two homebirths.

Watch George’s arrival–- sans Duggar birthing tarp–- below!

  1. Hmmmm, They have been taught to not use birth control “because it causes miscarriages” after Michelle had a miscarriage. Yet, everyone of these girls have had a miscarriage. Beautiful baby but I wonder if Jessa has ever been checked for gestational diabetes having such large babies. All of my kids were 9+ pounds and I had gestational diabetes with all of them.

  2. Yay. A new cult member. He’s a boy so at least he’ll be a “headship” one day with SOME control. This isn’t happy news. This is sad. This woman is on number five and barely in her thirties. Jill said her parents were giving the big house to whoever had the most kids. Guess Jessa is really going for it. Doesn’t surprise me. She’s one of that family’s biggest bullies. Poor kids. No chance.
