Bella Vaughn and her mom Falen are reflecting back on their decision to appear on the most-recent season of ‘Unexpected,’ revealing that they actually had to move following their controversial appearance on the TLC show.

During a Q&A session posted to TikTok on Sunday, Bella—who appeared on the show with her then-13-year-old baby daddy/boyfriend Hunter Johnson— stated that the backlash she and her family received because of what aired on ‘Unexpected’ was enough to chase them out of town.

“It’s hard, especially going through a situation like I did with the show and everything,” Bella said. “Y’all know the reason we left [our town]? We moved because the town we were in was horrible and toxic and those people are absolutely disgusting. After all that went down [on the show], I literally had no friends. They were all fake.”

Falen— whose actions on the show certainly didn’t help the family’s reputation— stated that anyone who did befriend Bella had ulterior motives. 

“They would want something from her,” Falen said. “They would want to hang out with her for followers, or hang out with her for attention. It was never anything just to be there to be nice.”

Bella admitted that she did meet a lot of “amazing people” because she was on ‘Unexpected.’ However, she said that “sometimes I very deeply regret [being on the show].”

“It was horrible,” she said. “I wouldn’t recommend it, actually.”

As ‘Unexpected’ fans know, Bella is one of the most-controversial girls to ever appear on the show. In addition to getting pregnant at 14 by her then- 12-year-old boyfriend, Bella (and Falen) openly talked about some eyebrow-raising topics on-camera, including Hunter’s desire to have “butt sex” with Bella to prevent future pregnancies, and Falen allowing Bella and Hunter to shower together in her home, to name just a few.

According to Falen, many of the more-controversial scenes were “exaggerated” for ratings. 

“We just never expected the stuff to come out that actually came out from the show,” Falen said. “So many of the lies and [them] exaggerating a lot of the stuff. We just never expected that.”

Bella agreed, insisting that the producers weren’t truthful when they told them how things would be presented on the show. 

“I had never seen the show,” she said. “I had never watched it. I had only ever watched our season.”

While TLC is casting for Season 8, Falen made it clear that they have no intention of going back on the show if they are asked.

“One season and done was plenty for Bella,” Falen said, adding that appearing on ‘Unexpected’ “did open some doors” for Bella.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and when you get it, you don’t think it’s real,” Bella said. “When people talk to me and are like, ‘This is so cool. You’re, like, famous’ I’m like, ‘I’m not, though.'”

“We don’t see it as that; we see it as we’re normal people,” Falen said. “We still see people out in public and they recognize us and stuff like that and they take pictures.”

“Not all encounters are good,” Bella added. “I’ve had bad ones too.” 

Falen stated that the people who don’t like them only know them from what was put on the show.

“You know us from what has been put out and what videos have been made to paint a picture of something that it’s not,” she said. “That’s what the ones that don’t like us know and it’s sad that they went that route and believed it.”

“We don’t put our whole lives on the Internet,” Bella said. We went on a TV show but that’s not us. That’s not our lives. Y’all don’t know a lot of the stuff that goes on, which is how it should be.”

“You guys only seen about 10 percent of what actually happened,” Falen added. “…it would have been a lot better if you had actually seen the fun things [Bella and Hunter] did and not just all about drama and just trying to stir the pot.  There’s so much good stuff that you guys didn’t get to see.”

This is not the first time Bella has criticized her ‘Unexpected’ show experience. Back in May, Bella slammed those working behind the scenes of the show for allegedly not offering “very much help” when she and other cast members began to receive hate from fans online. 

“They just kind of threw us out there,” Bella said.
