Olivia Plath Shares Her Experience Bringing Abuse Allegations to ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Producers

Trigger Warning: This story contains mentions of abuse and threats of violence.

Olivia Plath wants her followers to understand why victims of abuse don’t come forward.

More than a year after first sharing disturbing allegations against her ex-husband Ethan Plath, the former Welcome to Plathville provided more details on her experience, including how the show’s producers reacted when she provided them with information on Ethan’s behavior.

“It has been a few years since this happened and it’s still scary to talk about because as we can clearly see by today’s societal landscape, MEN ARE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE,” she wrote. “I’m lucky that I could leave with no physical injury. And today, I am thinking of every single woman who couldn’t. Who was subjected to violence and assault. Who has not been believed. Who has never seen justice. I stand with her.”

Over 11 slides, Olivia described some of her ex’s dangerous behavior and the response that behavior got from show producers.

“He drove recklessly with me in the car and refused to let me out when I begged him,” she wrote on the second slide. “Would back me into corners and cuss me out, sometimes drunkenly spitting on me. He constantly lied to me. Purposefully left me stranded in unfamiliar places. Would stare me in the eye while slamming things around me like chairs when he was angry. Refused to let me leave the house to get away from him and would block my car in. Said very emotionally damaging things and then told me that I would never find a relationship where I was treated better.”

Olivia repeated a claim she’d made previously that Ethan threatened to shoot her friends. After he left to buy guns, Olivia said she reached out to Ethan’s grandmother for help. She also called ‘Plathville’ producers.

“I told them what had happened and that I felt unsafe,” she wrote on the third slide. “I asked for a hotel room because I was too scared to sleep in the same apartment. I told them in detail what had happened, what he had said, that he had left the apartment to go buy more guns, that he had threatened me. For extra measure, I brought up this incident in a recorded interview the next day so that there was a record of it – I knew that multiple different crew members had access to and screened that footage.

“I did what I knew to do,” she continued. “I trusted that my producers would escalate this concern to Discovery network and that things would be handled appropriately.

“I was wrong.”

Instead, Olivia wrote, the producers downplayed her concerns.

“He was never held accountable,” the fifth slide reads. “Discovery kept him on their reality tv show with no consequences. The producers continued working with him and calling him a friend. They came to me and told me that they didn’t believe he truly meant the things he said and did, he was just so angry about losing me and our relationship.”

Dismayed with this response, Olivia wrote that she pressed the network to take action on her allegations.

“I sent it to Discovery Network and asked for a full investigation into problematic cast behavior that included violence, racism and homophobia,” she wrote on the sixth slide. “I told them that there was footage of my ex driving recklessly and refusing to let me out of the car when I begged – crew was present for that. I told them that there was a recorded interview the day after the gun incident when I brought it all up on camera. I told them that I had videos on my phone that included him using a firearm to pretend to shoot people on the tv screen – it wasn’t evidence, but I would give them anything I could to help show them that he had patterns of angry, violent and disturbing behavior.”

Discovery conducted an internal investigation and, according to Olivia, dismissed her charges against Ethan because, “he denied what I said about him.”

“I started making calls and I learned that they had never asked crew members about corroborating stories from the gun threat day,” she shared on the seventh slide. “They hadn’t really looked into anything at all. I had permission to list certain crew members names as people who were willing to be called as my references for certain situations. They never got a call.”

Olivia publicly shared her allegations after leaving the show.

“When I first said something publicly about my ex and his abusive behavior, I got a lot of hate online,” she recalled on the eighth slide. “The whole reason I stayed quiet for so long because I knew I would be blamed, women always are. I felt like no one believed me.

“But then, after another season of the show aired, I started getting some comments and DM’s that made me feel not alone,” she continued.

“‘His anger and problematic behavior is starting to show,’” she quoted on message. “‘You’re not in the picture and the issues are repeating. We believe you, we can see it now.’”

Veronica Peters, ex-girlfriend of Ethan’s brother Micah, made her own allegations against the Plath family in summer 2025, which included “underage drinking, illegal activities, abuse and domestic violence,” as The Ashley reported. Like Olivia, Veronica accused producers of downplaying her claims.

“There was never any abuse or crime – according to the network profiting off it,” she wrote in July 2025. “Gaslighting the audience while covering for predators? Classic TLC, Discovery, Warner Bros. Common law and anyone with a conscience knows better.”

Veronica also accused Ethan of threatening her, telling her followers that she hoped TLC would air “the part where [Ethan] said, ‘I’m going to slit your throat like the pig you are’” in the show’s seventh season.

While Olivia found allies, she continues to empathize with women who don’t experience the same level of support.

“Do you know how many women are NEVER believed?,” she wrote on the ninth slide. “How many women never get justice of any kind? How many women are battered, bruised, broken, raped, assaulted and ever murdered and still they are not believed? Still they are blamed?

“Women don’t speak up because when they do, they are the ones punished.”

She went on to explain the trickiness of her particular allegations, writing that since she was never physically harmed, her allegations would have been unfounded if she’d made a report to law enforcement.

“My ex never crossed a criminal boundary, a line that he teetered on,” Olivia posted on the 10th slide.

“The system is not built to protect women or to hold men accountable.

“There was no place in the system for my experience.”

The post has so far received over 20,000 likes and nearly 1,100 mostly positive comments, including one from Olivia’s sister Lydia Grace, who wrote, “So tremendously proud of you. If there’s one person in my life I’d do anything to keep safe while looking up to, it is always you.”

Ethan and Discovery have yet to comment on Olivia’s allegations. Olivia and Ethan separated in February 2023 after five years of marriage and finalized their divorce earlier this year.

Personally we have seen him rage on the show. The entire last two seasons were him raging and acting like a toddler throwing a tantrum. Of course Discovery wanted to keep their precious aw shucks dimple boy on.

Paula Shultz

It’s perfectly acceptable now to threaten to obliterate a person without consequences just look at the screamer in chief.

Crusty

She comes across as more worried about getting him in trouble with the TV show, than prosecuting him thru the law.

Gurl bye. Whats up? Bored, work a bit slow. Do you still have a boyfriend or has he gone and you are lonely or are you just starving for attention. Let the grudge go or call Allie Ekland and be miserable together and swap notes. You are no longer a plath, you were just as much to blame. The Ethan you married is not the se Ethan he is today and you contributed to that. He was your out because you hated your own parents. You are not helping woman you make things worse your a Blake Lively 2.0 and thats not a compliment.
