‘Bachelor’ Producer Didn’t Like Ben’s Season Any More Than We Did!

"Ben was a snooze!" "Ouch! That's not very nice, Mike!"

It’s no secret that most fans were less-than-thrilled with the most recent installment of The Bachelor. With the polarizing women, lame group dates (who could forget the nauseating fairytale play episode?) and a Bachelor that was so boring I kept hoping producers would kick him out mid-season and bring ol’ Brad Womack in for a third go of it, needless to say the whole season was a [not so] hot mess.

Also in agreement that Ben’s season was pretty crappy? ‘Bachelor’ producer Mike Fleiss. In a recent interview with the After the Rose blog, Mike revealed that even he found Ben’s season below par.

“I don’t think anyone on the show in terms of the producers was really happy with this last season, with Ben’s season,” he said. “We tried to make the best of it like we always do, but it wasn’t what we set out to make.

“I think there was some frustration on the part of the audience with the way it unfolded, but I am virtually certain that the audience will get what they are hoping for with Emily’s season,” he added. “It is probably the most romantic season that we’ve ever had.”

This isn’t the first time the ‘Bachelor’ producer has bad-mouthed some of the former stars of the shows.

“We had a couple bad bachelors,” he said at a reality TV event in April. “[Season 7 Bachelor Charlie O’Connell] was drunk off his ass. He’s sober now. He’s got four years of sobriety. We got a little complacent, a little lazy. It started to sag.”

Maybe Ben should have done a lot more drinking on his season. That would have at least made things more interesting!

After Ben’s stinkfest of a season, rumors were circulating around the Internet that ‘The Bachelor’ had run its course and wouldn’t be on much longer.

Not true, says Mike Fleiss.

“I think the show is going to be on for a very long time,” he said. “It is still very popular, it is still a top rated show and is still one of the top five shows among female viewers, and it still gets more magazine covers than any show on television.”

While we frequently see the mugs of ‘Bachelor’ contestants on the covers of our US Weeklys, I think the Kardashian knuckleheads have them beat in terms of magazine covers. Still, a lot of people still watch ‘The Bachelor’ religiously, which makes me think we can expect it to be around for a lot longer.
