The Duggars are inching their way back onto our TV screens—well, two of them are anyway! Today TLC announced the name of its upcoming series of specials starring Duggar daughters Jill and Jessa, and also released the very first trailer for the miniseries.

The network announced that the miniseries, which will include (at least) three episodes, will be called Jill & Jessa: Counting On. The new show’s title is clearly a play on the name of the girls’ family reality show, 19 Kids and Counting.

The series will follow Jill, her husband Derick Dillard and their baby Israel as they attempt to become missionaries in Central America. Jill and Derick left for Central America earlier this year, but have already been back to the United States three times since July. They have been in Arkansas for the past month or so, but in a new blog post, the couple reported that they headed back to Central America today to continue their mission work.

"Now that we have TLC paychecks again, we don't have to buy those generic tater tots anymore, guys!"

They also stated that “it will be many months” before they are “able to make a short visit back to the States again.” (The Dillards originally stated that they wouldn’t be back home again until next summer, but changed their wording to “many months” for some reason after the post originally published.)

The miniseries will also follow Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald as they get ready to welcome their first baby into the world. Jessa is due to give birth on November 1.

The first trailer shows the girls discussing the bombshell that their family faced earlier this year when the media learned that the girls’ brother, Josh Duggar, molested them and other young girls when they were children.

In the preview, Jill talks about how devastated she was to learn that the media had found out about the family’s scandal.

“I cried a lot of tears over that,” Jill said. “I still do.”

Jessa said she was experiencing the “most joyful time of her life” when the news broke, but she is still hopeful for the future.

“Definitely with all of the difficulties my family has walked through, there are still milestones ahead,” Jessa said. (Not to mention plenty of TLC paychecks to be made!)

“We do feel like we are stepping on,” Jill says in the trailer. “We are excited about what the future holds. We will come out of this fire stronger as a family unit.”

The network’s executive vice president, Nancy Daniels, announced the specials back in September.

“We know that our audience is really excited about what’s been going on with Jill and Jessa as they move into young adulthood,” she said. “And now they’re both at the precipice of big changes. With what was happening in their lives in the next few months, it felt like now is the time for the specials.”

The first episode will air in December, with at least two more following sometime in 2016. It is not yet known if the specials will be turned into a full series (but our money is on that happening!)

  1. Cancel everything to do with ‘ANY’ of thr Duggar family!
Put the Little Family back on!

    This is NOT a duplicate!

  2. I dont understand these girls. They went on TV to say that what happened was no big deal, that it was over and done with a long time ago. So what are they upset about? That their family was revealed to be a bunch of hypocrites?

  3. TLC has become the place to watch trash. All the shows TLC has created in the past few years are glamorizing disgusting, delusional and low life people. Honey Boo Boo, Duggars, Sister Wives etc…

    1. Couldn’t agree with you more. TLC use to be a “respectful” channel to watch but now like you said they have been scrapping the bottom of the barrel in reality shows. Why dont they promote the lives of our veterans who have come back from the middle east permanently scared.Follow our veterans stories and see how they are treated instead of showing inbred trash.

      1. YES! Do something worth while TLC! Support OUR VETERANS! Good job pointing this out Barbinop! Stop with the trash shit TLC, I will watch the good documentaries on channels that really believe in family value, not dollars in their pockets!

  4. Here’s hoping no one watches and the Duggar’s finally figure out that paying your bills requires going to an actual job to receive a paycheck.

    1. amen ! i hope the show tanks in ratings and is cancelled. But I hoped this fro teh revamped gosselin show ‘kate plus 8’ yet it is returning.
      STOP WATCHING PEOPLE.
