Man Sues Josh Duggar for Using His Image As Profile Picture on Cheating Websites

"Uh...Dad? I may need your wallet again..."
“Uh…Dad? I may need your wallet again…”

Ol’ Jim Bob may have to once again bust out his checkbook to help cover up his eldest son Josh‘s bad behavior.

Matthew McCarthy, a Los Angeles-based DJ and photographer, has filed a lawsuit against Josh, seeking an undisclosed sum in damages. Matthew claims that the image Josh used as his profile pic on cheating site AshleyMadison.com, as well as various dating sites, was actually an image of him. After it was discovered by the media in August 2015 that Josh had these profiles, Matthew’s image was splashed all over the Internet– and he claims it caused him a loss of income, not to mention a lot of embarrassment.

In his filing, Matthew claims that he has been teased because of Josh’s “extreme and outrageous” use of his photo. He claims to have been called various names including “DJ Duggar” and “Duggar’s boy toy.”

According to Matthew, this harassment has caused him to lose work, and suffer from “prolonged pain and suffering, anxiety, depression, embarrassment, humiliation, loss of self-esteem and extreme and severe mental anguish and emotional distress including but not limited to frequent panic attacks, disruption of sleep and insomnia, mood changes, fits of anger, a loss of interest in pursuing both professional and personal endeavors, and a complete loss of self-confidence.”

Way to go, Joshy! Next time use your own mug when you’re trying to creep the Interwebs for chicks!

After it was discovered that Josh had a profile on AshleyMadison.com and other dating sites, Josh admitted that he had been unfaithful to his wife, Anna, and claimed to have an addiction to p0rnography. He then checked himself into a faith-based “rehab” facility to try to pray the naughty thoughts away.

Josh left the facility in March and has been attempting to repair his marriage in the months since.

Matthew states in his filing that he comes from a religious family and that they, too, have suffered embarrassment because of this. When the scandal hit the news last August, Matthew talked to Gawker about how he felt when he discovered what Josh had done.

“Initially, I just kind of thought it was funny,” he told the site. “But then I started reading. Now that I’ve found out that this guy’s a child molester, and he’s unfaithful and all those other things—it’s awful! Especially since he’s supposed to be this stand-up religious guy. I mean, I’m not all that religious, but I do—I am very close with my family. And am basically the exact opposite of him And now, this maniac is using my pictures online to try to get laid. It’s just crazy—it’s surreal.”

This is not the first lawsuit to be filed against Josh. Last year, adult entertainment star Danica Dillon filed sued Josh, claiming that the former 19 Kids and Counting star roughed her up during several sexual encounters they had. Danica dropped the lawsuit against Josh in February, and Josh maintains he never even met Danica.

  1. Even if the dude is exaggerating it…good, he should! Josh should be paying out the ass for his crimes, but since we can’t make him do that behind bars where he belongs…do it whatever way possible. The guy could be the richest person in the world, and I’d still tell him to sue the sick freak Josh, for all he possibly can..and then some.

Just because some of you didn’t associate his picture with the pedophile otherwise known as Josh Duggar, doesn’t mean the world saw it the same way you did. The guy *was harassed, *was named as a pedophile and a cheater(by folks that didn’t realize it wasn’t actually Josh’s pic)…Come on now. Who wants their name plastered all over the ‘net and in print, and labelled as a pedophile, and a cheater?

Josh deserves to lose everything, and I don’t particularly care how people go about getting it. He deserves nothing more than a life sentence which would be riddled by physical pain brought on by(and his life ended by as well) someone else behind bars. Pedophiles should get no basic human rights, much less anything else, as far as I’m concerned…too bad the law doesn’t agree.

  2. Jenelle's love of her life, wait no fiancé, wait no babydaddy, wait no ex, wait no guy she calls the cops on, wait no enemy! says:

I do agree that Josh is getting what he had coming but come on this made him famous or semi famous this guy is kind of over doing it a little. I think he is kind of using all of this to get more known he’s a DJ and you make it big by how many people know who you are. Just like that porn star that claimed she was traumatized by it but then met him again.

    1. It may have made him “famous”, but certainly not for the right reasons. The dude’s face was plastered *everywhere* liking HIM to the name Josh Duggar, which is, and was at the time, a very well known name for a damn pedophile AND a cheater. That’s not good publicity. Yes in most cases any word of mouth can be good word of mouth, for a business. But not when it’s your actual face being shared, with false information. The guy has been harassed ever since the sick freak Josh decided to use another person’s face. He’s been accused of BEING Josh, and that alone…is harmful. He’s not over doing it at all, it’s actually illegal to do what Josh chose to do, even if the guy didn’t want to sue, lol.

Who cares if the guy now gets more, positive, attention for it? He deserves it after having his face associated with this sick fuck. I hope the freak has to pay out the ass for this.

  3. I’m all for Josh getting what he deserves, but I get the sense that this guy is exaggerating the effects the use of the picture has had in his life.

    1. Yeah, that’s a bit ridiculous. It was always Josh’s face I saw when this all went down, I don’t even know what this guy looks like. Damn, now I gotta go see.

      1. I knew it’s wasn’t Josh. The man in the picture looked really fit. By the time Josh moved to DC, he looked like he had eaten too much tator tot casserole
