Maci Bookout Talks About Ryan Edwards’ Arrest, Bristol Palin Joining ‘Teen Mom OG’ & More During “Coffee Convos” Podcast Interview

“I’ve got a lot to say, y’all!”

Teen Mom OG star Maci Bookout was the most-recent guest on Kail Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley’s Coffee Convos podcast. During the episode, Maci spilled the tea (and/or Bud Light) on the possibility of adoption, the latest on her troubled baby daddy Ryan Edwards, the future of ‘Teen Mom OG’ and more…

Here, The Ashley breaks down some of the most-interesting segments of Maci’s interview!

On why she is selling her house:

Maci kicked off her chat with Kail and Lindsie on a light note by addressing her recent decision to sell her house. Maci explained that she and her husband Taylor McKinney own a piece of land and were merely looking at houses for inspiration before they began to build when they fell in love with a house and decided to make the purchase. Maci said she and Taylor plan to keep the land as an investment. (This is, of course, not the same as “The Land,’ the swamp property that Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason made famous!)

On rumors that she and Taylor are having another baby:

When news of the McKinneys’ upcoming move came out, some were speculating that the two were expecting another baby or adopting and therefore in need of the additional room. Maci confirmed that isn’t the case… at least not yet.

“We definitely still want to adopt but it’s going to be down the road because we don’t want to adopt a baby, we want to adopt a child, so we want to make sure that our family is in, like… no one’s ever in a perfect position, but in like a really good position to do so because adopting a child is a very big commitment.”

On her feelings about Bristol Plain joining the cast of ‘Teen Mom OG’:

“I think me and Catelynn and Amber are pretty much on the same page… if they bring in new cast members, then we don’t want it to be called ‘Teen Mom OG’ because that’s not true if there’s new cast members.”

Maci confirmed that she was not informed that Bristol was joining the cast.

The Ashley previously told you that the girls found out when the news hit the press.

“Amber, Catelynn and Maci did not even know,” The Ashley’s production source told her last month. “It was kept under wraps because MTV was afraid that Sarah [Palin] would pull out, and MTV knew that the original girls would be upset. In fact, they even used a different name when discussing Bristol being on the show, to keep it a secret!”

Maci said that it would have been nice to get “some sort of courtesy call” before MTV made any official announcements, though she’s still grateful for who WON’T be returning to the show next season.

“Well, I really feel like I’m not going to be mad at anybody joining because anybody is better than Farrah.”

On the recent trouble her ex Ryan Edwards has been in:

Maci was asked about Ryan and his most-recent run-in with the law, which The Ashley reported on last month. Maci said she had “no idea” what kind of state Ryan is in at the moment because he is not allowed to contact her or Taylor by court order. (Earlier this year, a judge granted restraining orders for Maci, Taylor and their two children that prevent Ryan from going near them, their home or pets.)

At the time of the podcast interview, Ryan was in jail. (He has since been released.) Maci seemed to be comforted by the fact that Ryan was locked up.

“I mean, he did get arrested,” Maci said. “I mean, I do know why, but I just don’t want to say. But to be honest with you, I think I feel better that he’s in jail because I know he’s safe there … I know he’s not driving around, he’s not, ya know, he’s not doing something that could potentially really hurt him or an innocent person.”

On how she talks to her son Bentley about his father’s problems:

Maci added that she still cares about Ryan’s well-being, due in large part to Bentley.

“It’s Bentley’s dad and although Bentley is about to be 10, I’m not sure how much time [Ryan] can make up now but still, no one ever wants to tell their child something terrible has happened to their parent.”

When asked about Bentley’s knowledge of the situation with Ryan, Maci said he understands what’s going on and doesn’t ask questions. She noted that anytime anything “that’s really bad” has happened, Bentley’s main concern is being able to continue spending time with Ryan’s parents, Jen and Larry. Maci said they always make sure to stay on the same page for Bentley’s sake.

“We’re not always going to get along or agree with each other, but the four of us do a really good job of making sure that everything is good for Bentley and that Bentley gets to spend time with them and in that aspect, everything is normal for Bentley.”

On the current state of her relationship with Ryan’s wife, Mackenzie:

When asked if she had a relationship with Ryan’s wife, Mackenzie, Maci replied with a hard “negative.”

“I mean, in my situation, if somebody shows you who they are, believe them the first time,” Maci said. “So I’m keeping a good distance from that one.”

(As ‘Teen Mom OG’ fans will remember, Maci and Mackenzie had quite the showdown on stage during a past Reunion, mainly in part to a letter that Mackenzie wrote Maci that essentially blamed her for not telling people about Ryan’s drug problem.)

Maci went on to say that she and Taylor have talked about the dynamic between the families once Ryan and Mackenzie’s baby is born, as both she and Taylor believe it’s important for Bentley to have a close relationship with his half- and step-siblings (and she also pointed out they don’t use the terms “half” or “step”).

“It will be, I think, a struggle to try to find a way to make sure that no matter what’s going on with Ryan that Bentley has a relationship with his brother. Both brothers, really—[Mackenzie’s son] Hudson and the new brother.”

On trying to co-parent with Ryan:

Lindsie commended Maci for her tendency to take the high road (instead of taking to the road high?) when dealing with Ryan, to which Maci credits to just being a “high road kind of person,” although she joked that in some cases she’d say she takes more of “the avoidance road.” On dealing with Ryan over the years, Maci said she finally realized their breakup was due to her coming to terms with the fact that you can’t fix people.

“I’m a fixer,” Maci said. “I couldn’t fix him, so I left and then I continued to try to fix him even though it wasn’t like I wanted to be in a relationship with him, but I wanted the best for Bentley and I wanted things to be easy on me and him, ya know? I didn’t want to rip his eyeballs out of his face every time I saw him and I know he felt the same about me.”

  1. I like Maci, i honestly do. She always seemed real to me, and handles the crap thrown her way with grace and maturity. But girrrl, what’s going on with your hair in that pic?

  2. That ginger minge still loves Ryan, it is very clear to me. Her self righteousness makes me want to puke. Nice job on naked and afraid you soulless cooze.

  3. Yes and if Briana and her daughters don’t get some sort of therapy, those girls are going to repeat the same cycle over again.

  4. At the end of the day, Maci seems like a good person, and a good mother…you can see it in her kids. I do feel bad for her…shes been dealt a pretty crappy hand with that crazy Rhine and his goblin of a wife…but you can tell that she’s trying to make the best of it for the sake of Bentley. Hopefully Rhine will get sober, and Mack will get her head outta her ass, and they will be able to co-parent like responsible adults.

  5. I do like Maci but I don’t think she should have anymore children. And if they really adopt, she shouldn’t got to Catelynn and Tyler for information about that. (But they are great friends so she prob will, ugh)

  6. The only thing I can focus on is the Instagram pic where Kail looks like a tatted up Miss Piggy. Which, honestly, is a damn accurate similarity that I never noticed before. No amount of plastic surgery or lipo (or amount of children/baby daddies for that matter), will fix that. She’s AWFUL, all around. Maci is dumb. Not that she altogether wrong, but she’s just dumb. No you weren’t given a “courtesy call”. You’re an employee. My employer doesn’t call me when they hire someone new. Dumb.

  7. Well it’s being reported on tmz that Nathan didn’t get Kaiser away from the land. CPS found the aligations of abuse not warranted. So Jenelle gets off again.

I still believe Maci is pregnant.

    1. Oh, no! Don’t tell me that. Poor little Kaiser is never going to get away from the terrible twosome. The system is extremely corrupt. It sucks!??

  8. I could see that Briana was hurt that the father’s of her kids don’t want to be involved, but WHY doesn’t she pick better men to have children with? I mean okay she was young when she had nova but she had Stella years later with some random guy she hooked up with in “da club” . If she would use birth control, stay away from bars and clubs, and keep her mother and sister out of her business, she might increase her chances of finding a good man who would stick around.

    1. Briana and the coven are man haters. Nova loves her father and as Dr Drew and Brittany said Devoin was involved and tries to be active in Novas and Stellas life. Nothing will ever be good enough for Brianna because her mom and Brittany wipe her ass and do everything for her.She admitted Stellas father pays over $1000 a month in child support for stella. That’s brianna’s dumbness to spend it all on daycare when she doesn’t work. She has some nerve to say the fathers dont help what does that biooottccchhh do beside pump out babies for her mom and Brittany to raise and go find another stud to breed with? She is raising her daughters to be the 3rd generation of DeJesus women to be men haters with daddy issues when they don’t have to be.

  9. Maci is a class act. If it were me, it would be pretty hard to “take the high road” when it came to Ryan and Mackenzie. Those two have lied and blamed Maci for so many things that clearly were not her fault. It’s truly disgusting how they have treated her when all she wants is for both Ryan and Bentley to be safe.

  10. Maci always seems to make the best out of everything.

On another topic: did anyone else legitimately feel bad for Briana on the Dr. Drew interview this past week? The DeJesus’ can be ratchet (Briana still did sound like a demon coming out screaming) and Roxanne is controlling. I still felt bad for Briana, it makes sense why she was attracted to Javi; he is a good dad even though he has negative qualities (like everyone else).

      1. Yes and if Briana and her daughters don’t get some sort of therapy, those girls are going to repeat the same cycle over again.

  11. I don’t always agree with every single thing that Maci does but I will say, she is a very good parent. She always puts Bentley first, she respects his relationship with Jen and Larry and she doesn’t bad mouth Ryan to Bentley which would be a very easy thing to do.
