‘Bachelorette’ Split! Kaitlyn Bristowe Ends Relationship with Fiance Shawn Booth After 3 Years Together

“Can someone let Chris Harrison know that we won’t be needing his wedding officiant services after all?”

One of the Bachelor Franchise’s longest-lasting couples has split!

Kaitlyn Bristowe announced on Friday that she and her made-for-TV fiance Shawn Booth have ended their engagement. The couple, who met and became engaged during the show’s 19th season in 2015, told People that they are planning to remain friends despite their failed engagement.

“After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the couple said in their statement.

“This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration,” the statement continued. “Even though we are parting as a couple, we’re very much committed to remaining friends and we will continue to support each other. Due to the nature of how we met, our relationship has always been very public, and we have enjoyed sharing it with all of you, but we ask that you respect our decision and our privacy at this time.”

‘Bachelorette’ fans have been speculating for months that Kaitlyn and Shawn’s relationship was on the rocks, given that the couple had not been photographed in public together for awhile and they had yet to begin planning their wedding.

Fans also pointed out on social media that, in recent months, Kaitlyn has not been wearing her ginormous Neil Lane engagement ring.

(In case you’re wondering: Kaitlyn will get to keep the engagement ring. Per the rules of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise, if a couple from the franchise lasts over two years, the engagement ring does not have to be given back.)

Sadly, this means we will no longer be treated to these staged photo ops anymore…

In August, Kaitlyn addressed the breakup rumors on her On the Vine podcast, admitting that she and Shawn were spending a lot of time apart, due to family and business commitments, but insisted that things were fine.

“Shawn and I are 110 percent committed to each other and yes, we are still together,” she told listeners.

While the engagements stemming from ‘The Bachelor’ tend to be short-lived, the couples from ‘The Bachelorette’ have had much better luck. To date, only three couples from ‘The Bachelor’ are still together: Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, Jason and Molly Mesnick, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham.

However, there are currently six couples from ‘The Bachelorette’ still together, three of which are now married. They are Trista and Ryan Sutter; Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum; Desiree Hartsock and Chris SiegfriedJoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers; Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo; and Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen.

Other than their statement to People, Kaitlyn and Shawn have yet to address their split on social media.

  1. That’s unfortunate :(. After three years together, it obviously wasn’t a fling. I’ve always liked these two.

    1. I heard three years is a crucial stage for a relationship and many couples end it after that time. My last one was 3 years too.
